I do this a lot.

I don’t get this, why would you not want to rewatch something you really like?
>>
I'm struggling to come up with a serialized western cartoon with a conclusive ending I wholeheartedly enjoyed. I can only think of OtGW, and that barely counts since it's basically a movie chopped up into some pieces. Also I rewatch that yearly.

Somethings just have endings so good you don't need to. I know this is /co/ but Scrubs was that for /tv/

mentally weak. likely afraid of introspection.

I guess Over the Garden Wall but I revisit that show every year. Ed Edd n Eddy too sort of, but again I don't have an issue going back to the finale. Oh and Home Movies. I think it's kind of funny that some of the most satisfying conclusions to a /co/ property come from wholly episodic comedies.

For me its when I am in the middle of enjoying something (either a vidya game or a show) so much that I start slowing down the rate I play/watch it deliberately to try and extend what I can get out of it and dread getting to the ending too quickly.

You know 4chan is dead when you fags are just importing shitty twitter trends, maybe I won't miss it when age verification/digital id fucks this place over
>>
>>152812718
Because it was so good I don't need to watch it again, I can still remember it well enough because it was that good and nothing ever beats a first watch anyway.
>>
It’s depressing the most shows are either cancelled before they get to an ending, flop their ending incredibly hard beside the creators never had one planned to begin with, or are episodic in nature so the ‘ending’ is just another run of the mill episodes.

Honestly it makes getting invested in a show feel like a waste of time.

>you got five seasons and soon you'll get a movie, what more do you want?
>this will filter so many of you
>do not wish for this show's return on a monkey's paw
It's not often a show tells you to move on but I respect that. You can also read the comics but the art for the early issues aren't good.

I decided to replay prince of Persia warrior within recently, a beloved game from my childhood, and I got bored.

I don't really watch much live action TV but the shows I have watched to the end have always been underwhelming. I have seen some anime with good endings but I guess that's the benefit of having a planned episode count.

>nothing ever beats a first watch anyway.
I understand that feeling, but it still doesn’t make sense to only watch it once. You can only truly appreciate art by engaging with it multiple times. Each viewing can reveal new details, jokes, or subtle elements you missed the first time. You can’t declare something as kino after just one watch. That title is earned through repeated viewing. In fact, things get worse after multiple viewings, as you start to notice cracks that weren’t apparent during the first watch i.e., "honeymoon phase." If even after repeated viewings, it still holds up, that’s how you know it’s a keeper.
>>
Had that feeling with many a things, co related and non related.
Last thing I remember that had me like that is Elden Ring and Oppenheimer

Home Movies finale was very emotional for such a low-key energybshow
>>
The real kicker is when the whole thing is so good you don't even watch the finale because you don't want it to ever end

Happened to me only once
>>
>>152812742
No. You could tell there was a bunch of stuff in the finale that they added out of bitterness that they weren't getting a season 4. Also they deliberately made everything about energybending feel like an asspull for no reason whatsoever when it would've been fine to show up without all the angst and Lion-Turtle stuff and the real thing they should've fixed is Aang getting the Avatar State back without feeling like an asspull.
>>
>>152813078
I deliberately avoid rewatching stuff because if I do I'll stop liking it.
What's your favorite show? Do you seriously believe it'll stay a 10/10 if you rewatch it?
>>
>>152812868
Yeah i also wouldn't want to watch scrubs after i was lucky enough to stop the first time

>>152815463
My favorites /co/ shows are a tossup between Batman TAS, Samurai Jack, and Ed Edd n Eddy. And they're still 10/10s for me despite having rewatched them several times. So yeah I do believe that, I don't get this mentality at all.

>wholly episodic comedies

Or just pay attention the first time around instead if being a speed watcher.
>>

Are you telling me you absorb every aspect of a show when you watch it for the first time?

I only first watched Invader Zim 4 years ago as homework for Homestuck.

Cartoons with actual finales are rare enough, let alone good ones. The only thing that comes to mind is the Ed Edd n Eddy movie and I'm happy to revisit that anytime.

examples?

...yes? I can rewatch Fellowship of the Ring any time and it's always a 10/10 movie. Or for a /co/ related example Prince of Egypt.

White Lotus army, Toph saying she never had an episode with Zuko, Ty Lee joining the Kyoshi Warriors.

>I don’t get this, why would you not want to rewatch something you really like?
Because I loved it when I was 12 or when I was in high school. Now I'm a joyless, aging old man, and watching it again I won't find the jokes funny or the clever parts clever.
>>
people who don't rewatch their favorite shows have no souls
>>
>>152817259
Could just be a deus ex machine, a gag (Toph is borderline a comic relief character), and another gag at the end of the series where further consequences don't matter.
>>
>>152817758
They feel like the writing team being bitter and rubbing the lost story ideas in the face of the audience, just like all their bitching about not being allowed to let Aang kill Ozai.

>>152812694
Angel had the perfect finale for the tone of the entire show. I rewatched that more than once and fuck all the comics that came after the show.

Six Feet Under and The Wire
>>
>>152812868
I liked Pantheon but I don't think it's finale was particularly great. It felt kinda rushed actually since they probably had to consolidate a lot after getting the news S2 would be the last.
>>
>>152816943
you're joking, right?
>>
>>152814663
Yeah anyone saying they don't rewatch something they claim they like never actually liked it to begin with.

I have never rewatched a show, not once.

Yes you have. Don't bullshit and pretend you came fully formed from Zeus's head fully media literate.

It's more of the fear of overwriting the memories with new ones that aren't as impactful.

Moral Orel, I suppose.

It was straight-up garbage. They ditch all the speculative thriller stuff to instead be a techbro fantasy about how awesome it is to be an electronic being untethered from the limits of flesh.

Moral Orel is like pic-related, where an exec saw the first serious sad episodes and said "this is great give me more of that!"

Then when they were given exactly what they asked for they went "no that's too sad" and canceled the whole thing. Didn't even let them have the full season they originally were supposed to have.
>>
>>152812984
That show would go from a 4/10 to a 9/10 solely by the removal of Greg
Like holy shit, that's gotta be the worst character ever put in a cartoon.
>>
>>152816931
Same, hell, I go so far as to not even replay games I like. I just don't care enough about a show or game to go back for gags and shit I might have missed. And frankly I think the people who keep doing that over and over are kind of crazy.
>>
>>152812694
Samurai Jack.

I'm not a fucking shipper, I think the ending we got was appropriate for the tone the final season gave.
Yeah, it's fucking bittersweet ending, but that's been Jack's entire story. Bittersweet.

Aku is gone.
His empire will never be.
The future is saved from his influence and the memories of all the comrades he made along his journey will always be there.

The life of the Samurai is a life of solitude, but Jack didn't complete his mission single handedly.

Yeah, friends died, that's life.
>>
>>152821019
If you actually liked Samurai Jack you would know Jack has had opportunities to use time travel portals in the OG show and let them slip away because it would mean the death of innocents in the future. The show directly contradicts itself and failed, fuck you Genndy

I do the opposite, if something I really like is coming to an end, I avoid finishing it for as long as I can, because as long I dont see the ending Its like I dont have to say goodbye to the characters
To this day Ive never seen the last season of Regular show, and Im still debating if Im going to watch the sequel

Yeah, I understand that
>>
>>152821318

>>
>>152821339
Nope. Over the few years Ive gotten a vague idea of what happens just because of memes but until now Ive never considered watching it
