It covers a lot of stuff, even beyond Zhao, and is a fun look at the kind of thing the official comics were trying, and often failing, to pull off with their post script stories. That it's centered around a very fujo idea of "redeemed Zhao" is sort of something you'll have to get over. Except it's also one of those rare fanfics that has an obvious "Fetish" but also the creator is competent and has enough restraint to portray it in a generally interesting manner.As an example, I love this page where it has a guard "dog" that's revealed to be a Goosedog. Or Doggoose or Goosehound or something. Just a really solid, subtle joke using the Avatar gag of having all the animals be mash ups.

As mentioned here >>152818865 "middle aged villain gets a redemption arc" is a peak fujo premise, but the artist, rufftoon, keeps things sane and, despite the story you might expect from the premise, it's actually hard to argue if Zhao ever truly redeems himself at all. Zhao's just that kind of dude. He's not gonna get a Zuko-style story.It expands on the conniving, ambitious character we see in the show, putting him in odd situations that he would've never normally ended up in and letting him weasel his way out of it while staying true to the core of his character. It's also a fun, reverse romp through the Avatar world, especially one just after the original show, and seeing it from the perspective of a jerk who can barely appreciate it at all. From his growing "connection" to the spirits to seeing his reaction to the heroes and where they are now.
Unless I missed something from the last time I read this comic did Zhao suddenly get some hot guy he has tension with to make this fujo shit or are people just calling it fujo because the author clearly wants to redeem and fuck the protagonist?
