The original Spider-Man trilogy was written from the pov of a child. He may be older than the other two but Tobey is way more childlike in the ways that matter. Perfect for a kid's movie franchise.

The way he deals with guilt and his own flaws are more optimistic and more realistic than how an adult does it. Children can see things the way they really are. I see so many grown idiots saying he's not selfish even though that's his defining character trait and the driving factor for every Spider-Man story in film history. Besides across the spiderpuke I'm assuming. I haven't seen it but I know they want to subvert everything so they probably changed that too. Anyway as a child you don't think about how much worse other assholes in your life are and take comfort in being not that bad "relatively speaking". Kids don't know, nor do they care to know, the flaws of others. A child will identify his own flaws and feel guilty about them, but also recognize that they're a problem that can be solved. When Pete is in trouble with MJ his mind doesn't automatically go to how immature she is or how much good he has done and how he should deserve more. It's like he doesn't even know those things. He sees MJ as a perfect person because her faults aren't relevant to the issue at hand.(And because she's a beautiful woman inside and out, her "flaws" not mattering to him in the slightest. Like a child's first love.) He's on his own journey of growth and that's what the movies are about. He's able to recognize that he killed uncle Ben but also that he can redeem himself, which he succeeds in doing rather quickly. There's no hint of angst, just a desire to be more grown up.

The themes and morals in the movie are very simple and unsubtle. As if seeing them with a clear, young mind. Unburdened by cynicism and apathy. As if learning what forgiveness, choice, and responsibility really are for the first time. Because kids watching the movies will likely know the words but not be truly familiar with the whole meanings of the concepts.

Aunt May is the ultimate authority figure in his life. He never has the arrogance to even realize that he can disobey her. To him her wisdom is boundless and unattainable.

He spends the whole trilogy thinking how other people have it all together and trying to keep up with them.

Manchildren whining about it on youtube all the damn time are ruining discourse on kid's movies and ruining the movies for the kids by applying cynical, mean spirited "logic" to the films. Which kids will think is cool because an adult is doing it. If Tobey's Spidey saw the video essays of today he would think they're cool and right, because he's a kid. The saddest thing about video essayists is that they did once experience these films the right way. They knew when to use their suspension of disbelief. They knew that logic didn't need to exist. And they were willing to get over themselves for a few hours in order to put themselves in Pete's shoes and enjoy the film. But they don't remember any of this anymore and yet they still refuse to move on. Now, all they do is complain about the only thing they have in life. The thing they choose to focus their careers on. I hate seeing kids using pseudo logic instead of their hearts. Especially when thinking about something that's supposed to be only for them. Adults have no business dominating the discussion on children's movies. Especially not in spaces that kids use. And especially not when they're too retarded to even feel what the movie is trying to make kids feel.

The worst ones are the ones who cry(yes cry) about Pete chosing the woman he loves instead of going for the easy and nice option. They're telling kids that true love doesn't exist and you should choose your wife based on if she gives you cookies and sucks your dick for no reason. These entitled homos really think that if someone challenges you or makes you work then you're the victim of a heinous crime. They're no better than the faggots who think that being made uncomfortable is the worst possible thing in the world. Only these MJ haters pretend to be misogynistic for praise on the internet instead of pretending to be hyper woke like the comfort fags.

We don't even know Ursula. She's sweet and she does something nice for Peter, but she has no will of her own. And since women are not merely objects, Peter doesn't think of her as an option. And neither are we supposed to. The movie isn't even about who he should choose. Choosing another girl isn't even on the table. It's about him trying to be good for the woman his heart already chose. (Aunt May basically looks into the camera and reiterates this out loud almost word for word in Spider-Man 3 and yet essayists can't fucking grasp the concept. They don't fucking understand the structure of the story.)

Peter is not a man yet. The only reason they casted an adult was so the kids can have a good role model to look up to. Pete's mind might work like a child's, but the kids don't know that. They just think Pete is a cool adult who's approachable and easy to understand.

That's why the mcu made the changes they did. They can't risk kids taking him seriously and learning morals. The responsibility lesson is the most important one in our lives and yet most adults don't know it. Adults are entitled, arrogant, cynical and apathetic. Kill all grown ups. Let kids have their fucking stories!

Wellllllllllllllll I kinda have to disagree, you're not seeing the bigger picture here.

tldr you have to think like a kid to get the full intended experience from the Spider-Man trilogy. Meanwhile adult retards on the internet keep talking about it like it's real life until that's all you ever hear about the movie, because they're paid jeet shills trying to suck the magic out of it for kids. It's kind of like if you were a kid and all the sudden one day all the adults around you started non stop bitching about how unrealistic Santa Clause is, and even started a culture around said bitching. And then all the Santa enjoyers/believers' voices were drowned out by the "adult" retardation dominating the discourse about the character. Which is no longer discourse, but just a bunch of literal niggers constantly parroting the same soulless memes calling Mrs. Clause a whore for some benign, and literally untrue reason.

Or maybe Spidey is generally just a good-nature dude. Kinda like how he usually is in the comics. Holy screwball.
