Zach is a pure gag-artist. His NG stuff consists mostly of just 30-120 second long jokes. I totally believe he and Cusack ran out of ideas and decided to stop when they felt they've "peaked". They don't seem to be able to produce coherent 10-20 minute long episodic animation, create interesting characters or have an overarching plot for a whole season.

If Smiling Friends were an NG production, it would be called "Mister Frog", and the Mister Frog episode would be cut into 11 one-minute-long episodes.

It was OK, still didn't find its "Style" ironically the Simpsons parody that tilted them into doing "Hawk Tuah Man" is Apt, bunch of crazy characters running around the type of "lol so random" humour Hadel claimed was 'Cringe" for years.
Hey, Family guy, The Simpsons and South Park lasted that many seasons because of really good episodes, even in later seasons, and well known moments.
Now that Smiling Friends is over I struggle to remember any stand out moments or episodes.
Wasn't a laugh out loud show with great jokes, wasn't about the characters or plots.
What did we lose?
