El Mañana Noodle is underrated.
>>152822160Thoughts on The Mountain? Not my favourite by far, but I like it as an unofficial coda to the franchise as a whole and a way to cope with the entire band’s storyline being derailed out of existence.I guess Murdoc getting cleaned up and actually acknowledging he’s a shitty person, 2B regaining his smile and optimism, and Noodle growing up into a sassy hag is all it took to cancel the apocalypse.
>>152822307I think it was alright, not my favorite. The music video was great but overall I enjoyed some songs from it for a while but I doubt I'll come back to them any time soon again.>2BDidn't know Yoko Taro was collabing with them now lol
>>152822307>Thoughts on The Mountain? Not good enough for a re-listen but not bad enough to be too disapointed. It's experimental and had a nice AMV, but PB was both and is still yet to be topped. Even TF sounds more experimental yet still distinctly "Gorillaz" than TM. It's kinda like a side project more than actual full fledge release
>>152822307it makes since that it was made because Jamie and Damon both lost their father's and artist they were friends with. Even the voices in the music video are people who passed away their life and communicating beyond the grave if I can wax poetic.
>>152822307I've listened to the album all the way through, watched the music video for Mountain/Moon Cave/Sad God half a dozen times, and relistened to a couple of the tracks like Orange County and Shadowy Light a few more times. It's okay, but it's no Demon Days. It's certainly their best album since Plastic Beach, but I think almost anything would have been an improvement over Humanz and Cracker Island. I don't think I like it as much as Plastic Beach, which was divisive, but had some bangers like Rhinestone Eyes, Stylo, Empire Ants, Melancholy Hill, etc. I don't think the new album has anything that catchy; I've caught myself whistling the flute motif from Mountain a few times, but I had Melancholy Hill in my head for like two month after Beach dropped.
>>152822935personally i never cared for plastic beach, the aesthetic was kinda cool but none of the songs did it for mewas too mellow and poppy and low energy, felt like i was gonna fall into a coma whenever any of them were playing on tv or on a radio
>>152822995Yeah, it's not everybody's thing.
>>152822370This sums up my opinion on all the Gorillaz tunes since the revival really. From a technical standpoint it’s all very impressive, but it all also has the energy of everyone winding down after a wild party and a tacit admission that the fun is ending.
>>152823417i mean... it is?damon and jamie are getting to the retirement age and then you know... deaththe party is almost over, what do you want from them exactly?to have the energy of 20 year olds again?that doesn't work like that
>>152822160Tweenage (?) Noodle was best Noodle. Then she had a huge fall and became current wall-hitting, coke-addict Noodle.
