I started reading Eltingville. It reminds me of Its always sunny in Philadelphia if the characters were nerds. What do you think of it?Do you find the characters and stories relatable?
It goes overboard with the point it's trying to make; supposedly much of it is based on Dorkin's real experiances but some of it sure seems like simple strawman shtick. Josh getting diarrhea and shittng out Batman symbols is way too on-the-nose, or all of them getting onto a call-in radio show at once and taking it over is pretty hokey. The best criticisms of "nerd culture" are the less outrageous things like how Bill doing an innocent party game at their Twilight Zone marathon thing is ruined by Josh trying too hard to win the prize out of greed, or how in the same story after seeing an episode of the show they'd never seen before they actually briefly consider it as a piece of drama instead of nerd fetish item (before getting distracted by the next episode).
