So Jean can purify people of the Maker's control. Neat!
>>
>>152857224
I can't take this seriously Camp. This is supposed to be representative of the real world, right? That's what your point about all this shit is? Then you have baby-wearing baddies like that one guy in that Image comic. Jesus fucking christ.
>>
>>152857553
It's because the nazeees are literally evil 100 even though we have a literal nazi later on be portrayed as a tragic figure.
>>
>>152857311
didn't need to make him look so much like Kirby here
>>
>>152857367

>>
Also the logistics of it all don't make any sense. So Schmidt was the previous leader I assume, right? And then the Maker had him killed I imagine. But then they have Fury give him an infinite formula dose so he can handle them for the HAND, as a sort of controlled opposition.

Ok I can buy that. Then I have to ask WHY? The Maker and the council were supposed to control everything in this world, down to the fucking water supply. Why would they need to maintain a group of evil nazis just there in the background, arm them with dangerous weapons and give them all kinds of resources? Camp showed that they could just fry any random bozo that expressed wrong-think before the Ultimates were a thing. It just gets increasingly dumber the longer it goes on. I would also have taken the whole thing more seriously (The death of a radicalized old friend by his other friend's hand) if they didn't have that dumb shit about wearing babies as armor, holy shit.
>>
>>152857626
Steve went through really bad shit like basically being born with everything wrong and still ended up a good person, Bucky got broken by the pressure and submitted to evil when faced with his own mortality and sacrificed everything and everyone to avoid the prospect of dying. Tragedy doesn't excuse evil, it never does.
>>
>>152857725
Oh I know it doesn't excuse evil, it's just funny how Camp doesn't know if he wants his villains to be comically evil or tragic figures.

IIRC Maker wasn't making changes that far in the past. But I know a lot of comics show Steve's mom being a single parent so it's not a novel idea.

Meta contextually maker probably went back to 1962 but we only really saw him back in what would’ve been the early 2000s to 2010s to see him stop pete from getting eaten. My question is how did he not find cap in all that time, he can travel in time and space freely but can’t track down a single body in the arctic?

Ultimate Wolverine feels like it should have been done several issues ago, how many times will they do this whole "we're trying to find Magik, meet some obstacle that takes up the whole issue before they keep searching for her, also some flashback about her past".

The Red Skulls were probably the most interesting background setup storyline and one of the few I'd have enjoyed seeing explored.
But they're just evil nazis with a (Red) Punisher logo instead of something actually interesting.
So many ways to take it and you choose to take it nowhere.
>>
>>152858560
Tony and Reed-Doom went back in time prior to 1962, grabbed Cap's body and travelled back to post-Ultimate Invasion
Maker couldn't find the body because the body wasn't around from 1962 to the city sealing in Ultimate Invasion

It's flimsy but it's their explanation.
>>
>>152861005
Brevoort hates and despises John but he's too popular to straight up kill, even maiming him couldn't get rid of him.

The Red Skull and Asgard storylines were clearly meant to go on post-Maker and are now condensed into single issues.
>>
>>152865621
Camp would be the first person to alter his plans, everyone else stuck to their original stories.
>>
>>152865811
I'm convinced Camp thought he would be given some leeway since he was the one that put the most work in the universe aside from Hickman, but then reality hit him like a brick

Camp is just trash, man.
>>
>>152860056
I presume that's the point. Do you think a single one of the people out there today wearing Punisher skulls in any single flavor of their ideology have read a single Punisher comic or actually care about the character?

They've probably seen at least one of the movies.

Millar's may be a pro-life antiwoke edgelord, but their politics aren't that different, both are anti-America.
>And in retrospect, it’s astounding how leftist The Ultimates was, during a period when American action movies were either pro-war or purely escapist. Millar declined to be interviewed for this article, but I spoke with him at length two years ago for a profile I wrote at The New Republic, and he outlined his philosophy there. “Europeans tend to be pretty left-wing, and Scotland's always been a left-wing country, so I'm always suspicious of uniforms,” the Scotsman said. But you didn’t have to be a liberal to love The Ultimates: It was a rip-roaring action story with luscious artwork, and even though Ultimate Cap wasn’t intended as a role model, many took him as such. “People would say, 'I joined the army after reading The Ultimates because I wanted to make a difference in the Middle East,' and I was like, 'Well, I kinda meant the opposite of that,’” Millar recalled with a laugh.
It's like Judge Dredd "Actually, you're supposed to hate these guys."

That's modern revisionist era crap from Millar now that being a neocon isn't popular. Millar has ALWAYS been right wi wing (see his STAS comic and the ST issues he wrote that were not ghost written by Norrison). Millar loved to boastp about how conservative Ultimates and Civil War was in the 00s and 10s
>>
>>152872811
>>152872827
Think it's funny how in this small shared universe with only a handful of writers, Camp can't write Richard in-character and Hickman apparently didn't share anything about what he was doing. The entire final arc was about Richard installing a MacGuffin that would make them untraceable. Vision should have nothing to do with, nor be able to find them either. And of course they shouldn't still be in the Savage Land.
>>
>>152873295
At least he writes Richard with a little more personality. Hopefully he writes May too...
>>
>>152857333
Not sure why Steve had to kill him. Dude already completely gave up.
>>
>>152873579
Because Bucky joined the fascists and "fascists get the rope." 1610 Cap also didn't need to kick Bruce Banner in the face after he was done Hulking out and surrendered, but he did it anyway because he was an asshole and it felt good to take out his frustrations on him.
>>
>>152873674
1610 Cap was an asshole, but 6160 Cap is worse since just can't stop murdering people. He loves it, he even killed thousands in issue #2.

>Criminals can be reformed except when I don't want them to be then they die
This core message on top of the hilariously huge revolving door of characters who change between appearances, wheel spinning plot, and no real goal for the team makes Ultimates quite possibly the first schizo-core comic book I've read
