I have always felt this way.Maybe “shitty” is the wrong word, but I’ve always felt this movie was massively overrated. It feels like the spectacle of the opening chase and the emotional ending sorta cloud people’s overall judgement of this movie. The entire middle section is pretty boring and meandering and the only part people remember is the sextant joke.The movie definitely tries hard but I do think calling it “perfect” like so many people do is just incorrect. It’s one of those situations where if you take it as a regular episode of EENE it’s a confusing mess, but as a finale it’s almost damn near perfect. Happens with a lot of shows that try their damndest to wrap up every loose end but also establish a new status quo, but especially with this one.Am curious about other anon’s thoughts on if a post-movie EENE season would be interesting or not. Cause I’ve always been mixed in the subject. I’d like to imagine that succeeding at becoming accepted by the neighborhood would allow the Eds to have more chill episodes of them dicking around by themselves like in season one, but I could imagine it sinking to the confused level of the school episodes.

After being ostracized for so long, Edd see the Kankers being left out and empathizes with them and tries to include them. Eddy doesn't want it because he doesn't he doesn't want to risk becoming an outcast again, and his conflict with Edd the overarching conflict for the season. The season revolves around them trying to teach the Kankers how to fit-in and their plans annoying the other kids until they become pariahs again. The finale is them doing some grand gesture to earn everyone's trust back and the Kanker sisters final being accepted.
