>>152921122>Maybe you were writing something?I have considered it before, but I'm terrible at writing and cannot suppress the "anon, this is cringeworthy and embarrassing, stop trying" thoughts any time I try.
>read anything Binged Cain Instinct in a whole week. It's a shame Ayane is too mellow to make honor the name of the story. as things are currently developing, she is closer to chuuni jesus rather than doom guy, which is really understandable given that he character is being level headed, but i still wish to see her rip someone's head off, prefferably her brother's or chichigami. >WritingSomewhat. Been scribbling some notes, lines and stuff in a notebook when i get inspiration. But actually putting it in a cohesive text, yeah no.
>>152921122Not lately. the ships i like aren't popular and get little content
>>152921122I wanted to write one with Bruce Banner and Raven meeting as runaways and doing a surrogate father daughter thing, but my knowledge of Raven is sorely lacking outside the cartoon. My other two ideas were Peter Parker getting the Venom symbiote from the science fair rather than being bitten by the spider, and Supergirl being indoctrinated by Darkseid prior to meeting Superman and needing to be rehabilitated over multiple chapters after the Apokolips invasion of Earth she led failed and she was captured by the league.
>>152921122>Read any good fics lately? No, I don’t read fanfiction. >Maybe you were writing something?I’m pretty much always writing some, yes. It ranges from pure wish fulfillment episodic stuff to genuine attempts at stories with a very heavy tie to a specific universe.Recently, I just finished the thumbnails for issue #1 of a slightly more self-indulgent fan comic. It’s mostly just practice for bigger things, not really meant to be published or elaborated on much, but I’m proud that I got it done because I haven’t finished something in a very very long while. Hoping to keep honing my skills on similar stuff for the next few months before maybe working on something I’d like to share with others.

>>152924157You’re telling me that people are actually using ai to write fanfiction? What’s this world coming to?
>>152922096That’s my biggest thing when writing fanfiction. I try to make sure everyone’s acting like themselves because if they’re basically my OC’s what’s the point you know?
>>152924293Who cares, fanfics went to shit long time ago. It's either super safe, boring shit or the author hides behind several layers of irony. No sincerity or passion left
>>152924357>the most sincere fanfics are what /co/ shits out Are we really at this point?
>>152924357Separating the wheat from the chaff has always been left to the discretion of the reader, individual preferences being what they are. After all, fanfiction isn’t exactly highbrow, though there certainly can be exceptions, but I will agree with you that overall quality has taken a bit of a nosedive. There’s still gems in all that coal but it takes more effort to sift through.

Currently writing a Ben 10/MHA story. Yeah it’s “Midoriya gets the Omnitrix” which I admit isn’t original but I’m trying to organically fuse the alien aspects into MHA. Got a lot of support for that one actuallyAlso been writing some Noir Peter x Felicia since I love that version of the ship. Wanna write more regular 616 Spidey based on my own ideasHave a series of Terry x Inque fics I’ve been writing. Finishing up the arc of them getting married and then a multi chapter ficBut I gotta finish my Albedo (Ben 10) fic I’ve just not been super happy with it but I’ll power through itLastly I wrote some fics for the hypnosis threads that have been popping up. Poison Ivy x Robin and some Spider-Man along with my own Star Wars OC’s, Dex and Tala. I really like them (big Star Wars fan). Would be down to talk about any and all ideas

>>152924357>Who cares, fanfics went to shit long time agoAnon, please. This medium has always been a wild west of quality. There is a reason why my immortal was memed to death. I also disagree with the stuff on sincerity. Fanfiction IS sincerity in itself. Yes, i hate lazyfags that use ai for anything more than spellchecking and they should be diregarded, but the actual human written stuff is still the same. That said, i do agree that in general, the writing quality has been pretty shit, more so than the old days. Simply because more awful cancer concepts such as Gamer fics, stats, litrpg derivatives, chaos gacha, essence shit and waifu catalog stuff. And they plague most fandoms i frequent. The gamer and it's consequences have been a disaster to fanfiction. But hey, such are the trends of the hobby, just as super special sis and plot rehashes were in the 2000s.
>>152926333>>152926370That’s weird and annoying. Hope you guys enjoy what you find. Any feedback is appreciated

>>152923135It's simultaneously much better and kind of worse. The way it's set up inherently biases things toward shipfics and makes it less likely for people to write other kinds of fics. I really wish they'd add standardized genre tags and give them at least as much prominence as the relationship-related tags. People could still use whatever other tags they wanted, too, but it would make some types of fics much easier to find, and it would be clearer to new fanfic writers that you don't *have* to write shipfics.
>>152921122I'm writing a rewrite of Arcane, filling in some deleted scenes in season 1 then a rewrite of season 2.
How is the male fanfiction world doing? The same as always? In the female world, I try and find smut fics and it's like, 70% trannyshit. It's fucking intolerable. There's no amount of tags you can exclude to get rid of it all. It's that or coffee shop college AUs. It's hell.
>>152928035The cartoon show with its own board is easily the best fandom for finding other kinds of fics. Their fandom-specific site is designed way better than either AO3 or FanFiction.net and the balance of genres is a million times better than for pretty much any fandom on AO3.
>>152923135Everyone abuses the tagging system, resulting in an endless supply of massive tag-walls where every single insignificant detail is listed. Character is mentioned once? Tagged. Relationship is referenced in passing and never again? Tagged. [Insert trope here]? Tagged. Not to mention ao3 has the most cancerous community on the entire internet. It's all the worst aspects of tumblr and twitter and reddit fused into one giant, gay abomination.
>>152922529>the ships i like aren't popular and get little contentSame
>>152928158The worst is if you're looking for a crossover fic and find one that has the fandoms you want for it, oops nevermind its just some mega drabble fic they've tagged a dozen different fandoms in.

>>152928380Dont forget the classic, X Needs A Hug.
I started to see 'Fix-it' fics as inherently flawed>By fixing things you remove would-be character development, which then the author either ignores or has to come up with something new>By fixing stuff you also remove stakes from the story>Both of these problems will eventually result in boring, flat story>Even worse if fic in question is epic in length
>>152928521I thought a 'Fix-It' fic was people writing a fanfic retcon of a particular element they thought that the author fucked up, not "fixing" the entire universe? Like a fanfic author writing a fix-it fic of Sins Past or something.Although I have seen a few like you describe, where the fanfic writer thinks they are superior to the actual creators and fix fake 'flaws', but I wouldn't call Fix-It Fics inherently flawed because of it. But maybe I don't read enough to see your point.
>>152928452Some reason Yaoi fans wants to write straight pairings but are too afraid to get cancelled for genderbending so they just make them trans. It blows because they put all of it in M/M.
>>152928521But what if you explore the ramifications of the stuff you fix? Like, okay, this character didn't end up going through the character development they were supposed to. How does that affect the story, and the actions they take in the story?
>>152926828Is this real?
>>152922431Synned tags are annoying to browse but if they tagged it you can still put the right words in the keyword field and filter for what you want that way
>>152921122I recently started using redquill to get AI smutfics of cartoons and comics that usually don't get any or aren't "normal" enough for my tastes. They're not the best but like with AI in general, it's often "good enough" to scratch whatever itch I have for a Calvin x Susie coupling or Rocket Power gangbang etc.
>>152928502Just reading it gave me hives, thanks.
>>152928864eh AI is a weird rabbithole to go down. I had some fun with it a few years ago, kinda had a choose your own adventure type story going on for like 2 months. but its verbage got repetitive after awhile, and the smut romance stuff kinda turns your brain to mush
>>152928502>Fic tagged with A/B>still has two separate tags for A Loves B and B Loves AWhy? I hate this zoomer quirky tagging bullshit so much. AO3 should have always limited tags to 10 or something.
>>152928452kek I remember going on ao3 during the pandemic and seeing all the troonshit in the rick and morty category. To this day I think ive only seen 1 actual Morticia fic that was good, was like 12 chapters on ffnet until the author had a hissyfit and nuked his account kek
>>152928932Yeah it's not ideal, but when you look up AO3 and can't find anything decent of any character or show that you're in the mood for then you take what you can get.I don't go on any long strings of stories mostly because mine always get flagged for underaged content, but luckily while it blurs the page after generating a story like that you can still Ctrl+A Ctrl+C the whole page and paste it in a word processor, you just can't continue with new chapters. So I'm basically just getting short stories of some sexual encounter featuring these characters. I've made a point to make a component for each show for it to draw information from but it'll still get some really weird mistakes despite that, like having a KND story and having it describe Numbuih 5 as pale or Kuki wearing a pink dress.
>>152928932>>152929007I'd rather quit writing than resort to AI slop as a substitute for actual effort. My works in AO3 may not be successful, but they're mine, I actually sat down and tried to write the best stuff I could instead of just feeding shit into a glorified chatbot. I have a total word count of over 3.6 million and I built that the hard way, goddamnit!
>>152928945But anooon, I NEED those views and u̶p̶v̶o̶t̶e̶s̶ kudos!
I haven't really been reading fics like I should be. Always kinda slow on that.I have been writing fanfic but I've mostly have stuck to vidya stuff having only done the one /co/ fic (a great mouse detective basil x miss kitty story)>>152924333Same, like I don't mind willful character deviation when done right but a big part of fanfic for me is properly emulating how a character acts, thinks, and speaks, with some wiggle room depending on what kind of plot you're going for>>152923084ff is only really better with some fandoms being bigger and there generally being more hetero stuff compared to Ao3Aside from that Ao3 blows it out the waterThe awful bot comment spam is ruining ff. Seriously considering not posting there anymore after one of my recent stories got 3 reviews and all were bots.>>152926333Most boards can I think. Iirc it comes from someone spamming links to his futa stories here a lot some years ago>>152927323I had someone make fanarr of one of my stories once. It wasn't very good art but still such a cool thing to do, eternally grateful for it>>152927965I never thought about this (I only do smut so I use the relationship tag section every time anyway) but yeah it is kinda biased towards that stuff by the nature of having a specific section for it.Also want to add that boy do I fucking hate how hard it is to discuss fanfic on 4chan. It typically gets 404'd on every board except /trash/ and /vp/, /lit/ where you think it would be home to explicitly forbids it. Its honestly only a matter of time before this thread goes.Real fucking shame too, it's fun to discuss
>>152921122I suppose I'll share my own:Title:Batman [Sunrise] or: How Kara Zor-El pulled off the greatest 'I can fix him' slam dunk in her bloodlines history.Batman Harem fic written with a straight face. Set after he won his war. Plot with Porn. This is the first thing i've written ever that wasn't a high school essay. I wrote the first chapter in a depression after fucking up getting a job and discovered I actually loved writing and want to make an actual book once this is done. I use Questionable Questing as my main and I put side-stories in there but A03 I update right after it.
>>152924333Most guys writing fan fiction have very specific axes to grind - they hate what Writer X did or how Actor B portrayed this and write accordingly. In it's own way, it's also not 'canon' accurate, sometimes.>>152922096Most fan fiction written by women is their interpretation - and it's also filtered and based on a very specific and limited idea. Sadly, it is often based on OTHER fanon, versus being based on actual knowledge. For example, someone writing Young Justice fan fiction purely based on READING other YJ fanfic. It's also very much encapsulated - writers who saw only the first season of Invincible and or saw just some episodes, and saw a lot of memes, fan art and gifs, or even fan porn, and decide to write based on THAT, versus knowledge of the comic books. Plus, of course, always based on the most popular Invincible (or whatever else) fan fic. /co isn't that, but that's why they have this complaint - but it's frankly the same complaint /co has with MCU casuals over Marvel comic readers, for example.

>>152929566>Most guys writing fan fiction have very specific axes to grind - they hate what Writer X did or how Actor B portrayed this and write accordingly. My perception of fan fiction is that it's the eternal battle between Shipping Daughter and Powerscaling Son. Most male fanfic is powerscaling deep down (fixing Potential Man or Crossover Fights, the type of things that serve their powerscaling on some level) and most female fanfic is shipping deep down. Starting with Arsène Lupin versus Herlock Sholmes in 1908 and fanfic about Jane Austen characters in romances from 1914.>>152927965>The way it's set up inherently biases things toward shipfics and makes it less likely for people to write other kinds of ficsThat's interesting. I haven't used FFN in probably a decade. I guess that makes sense since FFN was created by a man and AO3 was created by women.

>>152929745ancient egypt fanfiction goes hard
I genuinely only read pornographic ones. It's on par with Rule34, I like a character/show, and want to see it lewded. The nice thing with a good fanfic is that it can have a bit more "substance" to it than a sole image. My favorite style is when a writer basically goes through the episodes of a show and just lewds each episode. Unfortunately it's relatively rare and even rarer having them finish it. I remember Avatrek had some for Avatar the Last Airbender which was decent but was a little too dumb and rapey for my tastes. There's a horse show one I really like that does a better job, though for some reason they only did season 6 and some of season 7.
just let grok write it
>>152930089>I genuinely only read pornographic onesYikes
>>152930097Don't know about Grok but I know most have issues if not with porn then with taboo subjects which become default with many cartoons. If I ask Redquill to write a Powerpuff Girls smutfic for instance, it'll always age them up and state things like "Blossom, now a college student" UNLESS I add components that railroads it away from that. I can't get it to downright say a character's age, but I can get it to not mention it and describing their bodies in such a way so that it's canon accurate.

It's nowhere near as popular as all those porn stories. But hey, at least I'm doing what I love, right?

>>152921122I basically just write whatever ideas In my head that I find interesting in the moment and no one has really done before, mostly fo stories that have already strong characters since i find it fun to try and write them correctly (try is the key word). Recently I've been writting a Homestuck fanfiction titled Homestuck: ReCalibrated on ao3. I've also made a Jojo react fiction, but I've found that as much as it's interesting to read a react fics, writting them is rather a slog especially if you want it to be good.
>>152932240I'll give you credit, I giggle.
>>152932143When the work starts getting political for no fucking reason.I was reading a Loud House fic a while ago and out of nowhere the characters started talking about Trump and MAGA and I lost interest shortly after. When I write smut between virgins I genuinely just skip it or go through it quickly.Inversely I also really dislike out of the blue mentions of previous lovers right in the middle of a smut scene unless it's abreally important part of the plot or the characters stories. You know what really grinds my gears? How it's practically impossible to search for any NORMAL crossovers on AO3. In fanfic.net, you got a list of all fandoms, and it crossovers were one on one. In AO3, 80% of crossovers are these ridiculous, retarded, autistic megacrossovers with fifty fucking different fandoms, or worse, PROMPT "fics"

>>152933738I have to imagine they're more done so for the creator than anybody else. It's basically like a child who pays with fifty different toys from different settings just making shit up to put them together. It's not that I have a problem with them doing it, you know, the issue is just that they completely pollute the crossover section. Them and the prompt fics. And there *are* good crossovers; like this one I remember where Zim and Dib from Invader Zim are transported into the Young Justice universe where their usual shenanigans end up being seen as really fucked up. Like GIR eating the brains of a bunch of arkham inmates.
>>152933738Tails gets Trolled is basically that so it has its fans.
>>152933578The only circumstance I can imagine one of these massive crossover fics working without the story being bogged down by too many fandoms at once is something like a Kingdom Hearts scenario where the protagonist is going through these different shows and interacting with the characters solely within that specific context then moving on to the next one, otherwise there's just too much going on at once to keep track of.

>>152934098I read 13 year old ESL fics sometimes because they have pure SOVL. Very little politics, haven't yet spent much time in fandom spaces so haven't been poisoned by others' headcanons, they have a lot of raw honesty in them.

>>152931956>>152934604AO3 manages to maintain its haven status due in part to not allowing people to even think about making money on the stuff the post on there, so if this is AO3 you’d be protecting the website by reporting.

>>152935365Damn, that looks pretty good!
>>152934672From what I can tell the trick is whether they’re promoting it in the fic itself. Like if at the end of the chapter the author says how you can get early access to the next chapter on their patreon, you can then report them for it. But if they just don’t mention their patreon or whatever in the notes or on their profile of AO3 but do have the chapters early then they get away with it.
>>152933492It might be in the FAQ not sure. For anon fic you can post to the existing anonymous collection or create an anonymous collection of your own. Your handle will only appear on the fic to yourself logged in but you can still edit it. If you want the fic to stay up anonymously without being connected to the account, you can “orphan” it and the username will change to orphan_account. If you anon it you can still edit and update it like normal, if you orphan it you lose access forever. Sub-usernames are called pseuds for pseudonym. Pseuds can’t be anonymized from the main account, they will all display on the profile and the main username will be shown in parenthesis. But the fanfics you post to each will be separate. Pseuds are good for when you go by different usernames elsewhere and want people to be able to find the fic, or if you want to organize your fic so each profile is dedicated to a specific fandom or gen vs smut or whatever. To make a completely independent account however you do need to request a second invite and make a sockpuppet.
>>152935365oh hey I remember these, been genuinely interested in this little homebrew setting you cooked up every time you've posted it. hell I'd probably write a dumb little story for it if it gets a bit more fleshed out.
>>152935634Yeah they do have to promote commercial activity on ao3 for it to break the rules. The fic won’t be taken down if they don’t talk about making money from it on ao3. They can link a personal social profile and do their advertising on the personal social profile. It’s an easy policy to respect to use the platform even if you want to sell fic >>152935013Yeah this is a reportable violation if this is on ao3.

>>152937717>>152937790It is not an original work. It is on the same setting as Murder Drones, right after the Absolute Solver was defeated by Uzi.The story revolves around my 3 disassembly drone OCs who were flying through space on a spacecraft to find a planet that they can live in and feast on worker drones. They found a planet with drones to feast on but then their spacecraft was stolen by the drones. The trio of disassembly drones is now hunting down where the drones took their spacecraft since it is also their home. Also, the drones are all cultists who use their Absolute Solver magicks to mutate the ones in their ranks to be combat effective. Another also, the cult is a doomsday cult who wants to turn the planet into a singularity to annihilate everything in the planet.I initially thought of the story when I thought of a drone with fleshy mutations where the entire torso is filled with different kinds of guns. I wanted to see how a few dozen of them would fare against murder drones. Then I thought of more mutated drones that the cult can use: one where the torso was split open so they can add a radio on it, one that is a giant head floating around, walls of flesh and drone parts that act as doors. I am not sure how good of a premise this is and I am not sure if I can do it justice since all of my previous writings have all been greentexts with 2-3 posts only. But I want to at least finish the story and give it as much polish as I can. It is the best I can do for the story and for my self.

Because it was like reading a deviantart comic (the harmless ones), stuff too amateurish (or weird) for my liking. I grew thinking all fan productions amounted to that. Not too many years ago I read Poison & Winebby Madamefist (an adult PPG fanfic). It is once again time for me to ask for Canon-Divergence fic recommendations. >>152938435I'd have to give it to Flames of Regicide. Zuko actually killing his dad on eclipse day but not immediately pussying out and surrendering the war has a lot of promise as premise, even if the updates are taking forever,>We've talked about Fire Lady Dowager, what are some others you guys like?I hear a bit about this fic, but looking it's really fucking long. Worth the read?
>>152938826Don't know enough about flash to say, but sounds correct? As an example: The fic I mentioned here >>152938804 is an ATLA fanfic that starts during the Blue Spirit episode. When Zuko is escaping with Aang, rather than getting knocked the fuck out and Aang finding out he's Zuko, he takes an arrow in the leg instead and keeps his identity a secret, uses it to infiltrate the Gaang, and accidentally starts his redemption Arc early because of this. Stuff like that. No series in particular. Sure that means I might get recs for series I'm not into, but narrowing it down tends to end in me getting less recs overall.
>>152938804Shame about that. Zuko pseudo-joining the gaang without giving up his fire nation ideology is always more interesting than him being reduced to a comics-level pushover.
>>152938950That was actually one of the weaker aspects of that fic in my opinion. His ideology seemed a bit too... Rose-tinted in that fic? Like, okay, he can believe that the fire nation is doing good things despite everything, but the fact that here, he unironically believed that if he captured Aang, he was just going to be sold on their ideology and they'd all get along was a weirdly naive way of writing him. But I do agree with you. A villain joining the good guys while keeping their ideology is always very interesting, it's why Armada Starscream is one of the best versions of the character.
>>152938889I was referencing the Flash Point. Some I dunno original series where Flash runs back in time, prevent mother's death, comes back to the present to see he no longer has powers, fucked up everyone's lives, like: Bruce dies, so dad becomes Punisher Batman and mom the Joker; or Superman is a government prisoner since child, and all malnourished. Then the world explodes.Anyways, the only fanfic I ever resd that fits the bill was one about the color horses, an alt story of the first episode, something about "what if this character said 'no'", which spirals into a series of deaths of the main cast. The Timmy Turner wishing to never been born reminds me of this as well.
>>152939010Yeah him being that much of a naive squish is a bit far-fetched, but at least it's better than him just rolling over and accepting that his nation and people bled and died for nothing and they just have to give back all the things they won fair and square, as if they weren't conquered by some warlord a hundred times before.
>>152938743>>152938664You should try this.
>>152938889What you mean, in fan fiction, is more like No Voldemort.Or what if Krypton didn't explode. It's more interesting when someone who has some actual skills takes a world and does some actual world building, instead of changing a few things but still putting everyone through the stations of the cross (No Voldemort but Harry is still raised by the Dursley, Because Reasons of writer laziness, stupidity and lack of imagination).Spidey doesn't get the bite, but Flash still bullies him, Harry is still his friend, Norman becomes Gobi and still attacks Miles Morales BUT also attacks Peter, Aunt May, Gwen, etc. Because Reasons.
>>152938889You want another ATLA fic like that, have you read Object Lesson? It's unfinished but it's fun and fits your criteria.
>>152938889>No series in particular. Sure that means I might get recs for series I'm not into, but narrowing it down tends to end in me getting less recs overall. If you're into avatar and like that premise, dowager has already been mentioned but it uses Ursa replacing Ozai really fucking well. The world is recognizable but radically different.
Not /co/, but I finished Twin Peaks for the first time and felt inspired to write how The Doctor (10) would fare if he came in to the story at the beginning of season 2 since he seems like a competent enough character to handle the majority of the weirdness that happens in the show.I slopped out a reference image to help my imagination flow and started writing an outline, but holy fuck it's hard to write Twin Peaks. You have to basically write everything in reverse, and if at any point you come up with an interesting idea to insert into the story, you almost have to start over from scratch.Stuff taking place in the Lodge is actually super easy to write, because it's almost a flow of consciousness, but I don't have hope I'll ever actually get any finished chapters out, so I don't feel bad about spoiling the ending I had intended. The Doctor fucks up
>>152939077>It was me, Peter>I shot your uncle Ben and put aunt May in front of the Green Gobbler's bomb>I was the one who snapped Gwen's spine in half like a twix bar>I'm not here to teach you a lesson, but rather, because they are your canon events>Your canon events, Peter. >>152929688FFN is full of harem fics. You are right about the powerscaling since FFN is more male coded and most of the fics I ever read there are very OP coded (superman not only gets his powers but also becomes a jedi and is the only one left after a millennia past of Palp's death but also no new Jedi, yadda yadda. And Supes has a harem.Who all happen to be Kara, Lois, Starfire, Hawkgirl, Diana, etc., even though the JL doesn't exist and they are just random gash OCs given those names. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14018033/0/Red Rose in the Blue Wind. A Sonic X RWBY fanfiction I've been catching up on lately that does an amazing job at having Sonic and his friends assist the cast of RWBY and have their own side missions. It obviously does a much better job at telling a story than the actual RWBY. It's worth noting that it also made Sonic into a weird amalgamation of his game counterpart and his paramount counterpart but it's just barely noticeable at times throughout the story. There are a few typos here and there but it's easy to shrug off.
Although I've been trying to read more legitimate fiction, I'll always open FFN and find if any of the stories I follow get updates. This one I've gotten really into is Avatar: The Legend of Kuuga.https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14531184/It's pretty much The Last Airbender, but Zuko becomes Kamen Rider Kuuga, and joins the Gaang early to fight against the Grongi. I've been sketching out a Star Wars sequel trilogy rewrite. I recently read the Rise of Kylo Ren and the writing was so shit that it rekindled my hatred. Basic idea is that we get to see Ben become Kylo in a more realistic way, Finn is more stoic from the life of a slave soldier, Poe is still pretty much the same, Rey doesn't have the Force and I'm going to try to make her parents thing actually work.Ideas so far:> Ben Solo is training with Luke, the pressure to be a prodigy means that he's too nervous and thus pretty shit with the Force> during lightsaber construction his overloads, Luke rips it out of his hand and throws it a mile out the window where it explodes> all the other students just look at him> he wants to fucking die from shame (this is to set up his crossguard saber design later)> eventually accidentally kills another student in a fight and flees> Luke has to get him back> FN-2187 (Finn) shows clairvoyance during a "conscription drive" (slave raid), saving most of his squad from a trap (planted by Poe)> Luke and his students show up, stormtroopers shit themselves and run> Later, Hux punishes them with a Roman-style decimation> FN-2187's number comes up, but Phasma specifically chooses the guy sitting next to him instead (special treatment pisses off the rest of the squad)> Hux calls him in for a special test, five cases on a table > "All but one contain kouhuns, the last contains a promotion and a mission"> FN-2187 correctly guesses that the five on the table contain kouhuns, the sixth Hux is sitting on does not> Hux smiles and gives him the case> it contains an image of Ben Solo, taken three days ago, on a freighter to Jakku> "Your mission is to conscript General Leia's runaway son."That's all I got so far.
>>152922466This. I got 2 pages into it and just could not fight the cringe demons.
>>152937154The pandemic was scary as for that.
>>152942008Shit, I'd read it. I'd love to see someone actually try their hand at rewriting that dogshit trilogy.
>>152942008I don't care much for the sequels after the awakens but her you have here particularly the finn bits are really interesting anonI agree with the other anon I'd give this a read
>>152942008Love this especially with the focus on Finn, the definition of a wasted character. I actually have one too but mine is that Ben is just under cover for Luke because it just makes his actions in Force Awakens and Last Jedi make more sense to me>Force Awakens he acts basically the same but subtly showing that something’s “off” about him>Last Jedi plays out mostly the same till him and Rey bond for the first time and he makes sure no one can hear/see them and he breaks character and goes “You gotta get me out of here!”>Backstory is that Luke heard of the FO but felt a disturbance around it so he went to investigate while Ben had to go deep under cover for him. No one knew except them>At first it was fine but then he had to kill his Dad and can’t stand being around insane fascists anymore>Now the plan is to legit get him back. Throne room fight happens while Ben sics the Knights of Ren on the place to cause further chaos>He turned them to the light by treating them with basic respect>They all escape. Luke maybe does the projection thing or he goes with them I don’t know>Then ROS happens but better and Ben doesn’t die. Maybe him and Rey get together I don’t really careMiscellaneous notes are that Ben abandons the red crystal and gets a blue one but keeps the cross guard. He based it off old, High Republic, lightsaber designs. He would also be like a more deadpan Han Solo. Just more dry and sarcastic in how he acts. And the Knights are good because I like them and wanted him to have a squad of bros for him
>>152942241Also Rey isn’t a Palpatine. He says the “You’re nothing.” bit but it’s played as him just being blunt he’s not trying to be an asshole. He actually means it as a complement like “You’re not really anyone special but you’ve made it this far I respect that.” It’s just his delivery makes it seem meaner than it actually is

Not a fan fiction per say but I did have this idea for a movie heavily inspired by Toy Story. The story centers on a group of toys who have had it with their loser 29 yo owner. He spends all day in his mother's basements and has not had any real milestone progress since his high school graduation. They long for the days when he was a child who would cherish and love them with all of his heart. But they have a "eureka" moment when they discover a human biology book. They find out that when a male human and a female human marry each other and have sex, they produce a human child who would be more than happy to play with them.So they go on an adventure to find their owner a female mate and force him to get his life together.I had this idea for a Lego movie style twist ending where its revealed he actually was playing with his toys the whole time. The whole story was a product of his own imagination.Everything the toys "forced" him to do was on his own accord. Job Applications, talking to that girl from community college he likes, getting a driver's licence, it was all him. He really did want to move beyond his station, he just thought it'd be fun to restructure it as an IRL Disney movie inside his head.idk Its a type of movie i'd watch at least.
>>152942564I think the only change "needed" would be that he's talking to the infant child while using the toys and gives some "some day this will all be yours" as he hands the kid a toy soldier or something you'd have a good endingthen you undercut the moment by having the kid swallow the toy and he panic takes it out of his mouth and finishes with "but not today"snare on bass drumeverybody laughs
>>152942425Thanks. Just re watching FA with a friend I realized that Ben being undercover made his tantrums and shit make more sense. He’s not built for the Dark Side so he has to force it with tantrums or hitting a bleeding wound while fightingAnd I’m keeping the idea that he has a lot of respect for Anakin. Or at least understands him and that’s why he makes the mask; to keep him grounded in a way. “I’ve got this little homage to my family”Thinking about it, it does play as romantic. Ben and Rey could be like a spin on Han and Leia>*Right before then fight with Palpatine*>Ben… I love you>You’re telling me this now??Ben I’m thinking is a lot like his father but isn’t suave like him. He’s a bit quiet but he’s able to think on his feet like Han. Ben also has Leia’s wit and sarcasm>Ben! We’re here to rescue you!>Oh good the Three Laserbrains. Nothing can go wrong now
Something about AO3 that used to bother me but now I'm ambivalent on is how people spoil their entire stories with the tagging system. They spoil relationshops, they spoil if its a happy or sad ending, they spoil twists. They tell you absolutely everything with the tags. But in the end, it's fanfiction, and it's kind of nice knowing exactly what you're getting since it's something so self-indulgent in the first place.>>152940356I read nothing but RWBY fanfiction nowadays, there's a lot of good stuff coming out. I don't know what your tastes are but a recent good one is "Redstart". "I can almost hear the Hounds" is short but amazing. "Red Sky at Night" is also really good. "Origin Story" is my all time favorite RWBY fic.

I struggle with archiving my favorites, and eventually realize a favorite of mine is gone forever."Lupa of the Lake" makes me smile. I really hate that majority of authors want to write their fics as if they are greentexts or screenplays. So it really limits how many fanfics of my ship I can read.I do have to laugh that Chrome's translation loves to translate "Lupa" to "magnifying glass" and it struggles with pronouns. >>152944410it's not healthy at all, but it's something I can hide from the public. I’m writing an Avatar fic right now, but I’m trying to plan out every single chapter ahead of time. I’ve abandoned fics before and I’m wondering if the problem was that I didn’t have a concrete plan for where the story would go. I don’t wanna do a George Martin and spiral into endless tangents.
>>152946182just have an end goal and move the plot there slowly

>>152946182>I’m trying to plan out every single chapter ahead of time. You don't need every single chapter, just the core theme, important scenes and a rough scaffolding for each arc. That way you can make adjustments without needing to redraft the next 30 chapters but also not be writing blind.

I just convinced myself if it's posted on AO3 or FF it's enough for me to ignore if it's AI or not.No dude, I mean generating your ownI use a cracked version of this program called NovelCrafter, and pair it with my decent local LLMThe process is basically>1. Propose an idea about blank>2. Write an outline based on that idea>3. Write beats for each chapter>4. Expand this part of the beat with prose and inner thoughtsIt's fucking great, and of course you can change and add whatever you want to the AI's output to suit your style/need.Alternatively, you could have them have sex infinitely with infinite possibilities through programs like SillyTavern.
>>152939769This shit is what drives me crazy about looking for Canon-Divergence. No one can seem to agree on the definition, or simply doesn't care and slaps it on any story that has any level of AU to it>Modern Day AU>"That ship I like is now the canon ship">Literally just a regular AU>The canon diverged so long before the story takes place that it might as well be a regular AUSo many goddamned times, these things pop up when I'm looking for Canon-Divergence. Hell, I'm writing an AU right now that has canon-divergent elements, but I'm still going to call it a regular AU because I don't feel it ticks enough of the Canon-divergence boxes.

you guys seem to hold correct opinions, you're cool I agree with you that the tagging system is worse than useless. I wish I could more easily find female greenskin (orc/goblin) romance but alas, very few souls that wander this earth can be considered sentient. an easier way to find stories with pics (even a single one) would be great too. I would commit heinous acts if it meant I could raise a little orc or goblin daughter, but the creator hates me so that will sadly never be true.I dislike how text is the easiest way to live in a fantasy world, opposed to pics, videos or (text) games, because I'd rather have any of the latter forms of media.
>>152947399Don’t despair anon. In my opinion fiction is just a way to exaggerate and explore the real word. Our wants, desires, questions and all that. Look for the fictitious in reality if that makes senseYou won’t find EXACTLY what you want but I believe there’s a person out there who has the qualities you’re looking for in a woman. As fun as fantasy is the real world is all we got so best to live in it you know?
What’s a good writing technique for conveying information without sounding like you’re just rambling? I’ve been trying to be more concise lately but my train of thought gets the better of me now and then.
>>152947749Think of all the necessary information; bare essentials of what’s needed for the moment
>>152947692>Look for the fictitious in reality I tried but I can't. blissful ignorance is still ignorance and that bothers me. assburgers is my curse and I must wear it like a crownI respect you for trying, but I truly believe that we live in the worst times and the worst is yet to come
There should honestly be a fanfiction board. Fanfiction is still pretty popular, and its fairly easy to spot AI writing too.Unfortunately, /lit/ doesn't allow fanfiction discussion. It won't happen, but it could be good to discuss all fics from different medias.Thoughts?
>>152947159>writer lost his job and had to put down his dogThe way darker shift in story makes a lot of sense.
>>15294567515-20 is honestly not too bad even, but yeah I get your pointI've gravitated more to writing stories that features either pairs that have little or are written mostly in ways i don't care for, alongside also writing for stuff that has like no fics whatsoeverAo3 makes this pretty painless with the ability to create new categories for media but it's horrendous for FF, you have to email them to add like a game or cartoon and just subject yourself to the misc. section very few even look at.Currently doing a series of smutfics for a game that had absolutely nothing on FF and a singular kinda shitpost-y fic on Ao3. It can be a bit dry with little views, but I feel it just needs to be done. Plus it feels good being the only person to write for a fandom.
>>152946236I was talking about how GRRM’s gardener style of writing is most likely why the books aren’t finished yet, what with him constantly adding new ideas and changing his mind on stuff until the narrative grew out of control.
>>152948078Too much drama.Fanfiction writers are way too mentally ill, even more that artists.
>>152948140What was it? The series was meant to be a trilogy and then he decided to make it this whole grand thing? Gardeners should stay gardeners and architects should stay architects
>>152947129>>152947188Abel/Lute, Hazbin Hotel.Legitimately don't ask me why, because I don't know why, and I don't even usually write shipping/romance in my fics to begin with. The specific angle I'm coming at it from is a post-season 2 timeline where, I know the real show isn't going to do this, but Lute actually has to face more direct consequences for effectively saying "I don't care if a Seraphim dies as long as I get my petty revenge". Like, that section of Hear My Hope>"Everybody dies if we don't do this">"And so be it!"While she knows that includes Emily and she knows that Sera is actively watching this. So, understandably, she's going on trial for treason, possible punishment of falling, and Abel is being used a key witness, but he's having complicated feelings because, specifically, the way Lute looked at him in that moment. The first time in his life that anyone looked at him with anything resembling respect, and seeing something in him that he cannot see in himself. Lute, meanwhile, seeing Adam in someone else, someone real, someone who isn't a grief-driven hallucination, it gives her something real, and despite continued cruelty directed toward him, he speaks out in her defenseAgain, it's not a ship that I'm into, hell, I'm not even that interested in Hazbin Fic because it's just an endless sea of Alastor x Pick a fucking character, and I've only ever found one fic that I found genuinely interesting in the fandom as a whole. But I don't know, I feel like this take on their dynamic has potential
>>152948201Yep. Book 1 was WOT5K, book 2 was Dany’s invasion and book 3 was the Others. Then George got ideas. One of those ideas was my beloved Young Griff tho, so I can’t complain too much.
>>152947399Wow, i thought you must've been mistaken but I'm shocked how low these numbers are especially considering how popular shortstack goblins have become.I had been considering doing a series of smutfics about the Dominions 6 modded nation Grobaashka (a civilization of entirely composed of terminally horny goblins of all shapes and sizes that conquer other lands for the sole purpose of reproducing as they are capable of doing so with most other species, particular humans) but had let the idea fall to the side with other stories taking precedence, but this is making me reconsidering knowing how little human x goblin there seems to be out there
>>152948246Well anon for what it’s worth it sounds like you have a genuinely good idea here. I don’t know much of anything about Hazbin Hotel but your idea is compelling and you seem actually interested in your own work which is integral to the whole process. That being said you can’t force what you don’t feel so if the shipping angle is what’s tripping you up then perhaps it’s best to forgo romance in favor of something more platonic, unless you feel that’s just not in the cards in which case all I can suggest is to try and just muscle through it.
>>152948078I think it'd just be best for /lit/ to allow fanficWhy the fuck is it even banned there anyway?

>>152948532As a regular poster on /lit/ I can tell you the board can, on occasion, be heavily pretentious and very far up its own ass. They sometimes seem embarrassed that they're attached to an anime image board.I think it's all a little silly, and I say this as somebody who actually reads things like Moby-Dick, Ulysses, The Sound & The Fury, that sort of thing. I sure love dreaming I could create the next Fifty Shades of Grey where it's just a fanfiction with the names changed to be original, but I realize I write fanfiction due to not being able to establish characters. It's a cheat having readers just come in assuming everything about my used characters so I can skip that step.

>>152948900>How long are your chapters?Too damn long if I’m being perfectly honest. They usually average out to around 30-40 pages but this one’s shaping up to be a doozy. I think my problem is mostly that I’m never satisfied with what I write so I constantly go over what I wrote the day before and either rewrite it or straight up scrap it. Truthfully I’m almost done, about 3/4ths finished I’d say, I just get burned out from lack of free time. Friday is my writing day but life often gets in the way so I try and make time before and after work everyday.
>>152949406I don't have such a systemic issue with it but I have written 30-40k one shots i realized would've been better broken up into at least 2 chapters.IMO chapters should probably not go over 20k words unless there's a good reason for it.But yeah I'd say you're doing great writing everyday; that's something I'm trying to work on, really want to get to the point where i can easily put out a finished work every month at least
>>152938878it's pretty much very similar to regicide in premise, except it's ursa who kills ozai after she poisoned azulon, and the never ending series of changes (good or bad) that come from it. Be honest: you've used the anonymity of this website to actively shill your own fanfics before, haven't (You)? It's okay, I have too.
>>152949439I think I just need to start setting hard limits for how long a chapter should go on. I setup a guideline for how I want a chapter to go to help advance that segment of the story and I end up rolling with it no matter how long it takes instead of just finding a nice cutoff point.
>>152949439Putting out a chapter, much less a finished work, every month would be the dream.
>>152949679I haven't but I've gotten to the point where I set up a sitewide word filter match for fanfic to actually find threads to talk about stuff in.There's just so little opportunity to talk about it here, and fanfic discussion outside of 4chan is kinda shitThat said I have posted mine once or twice on occasion people have asked, and I also have been tempted to post my stuff on the off chance I find a thread about the subject as most of my stories now are for niche things that don't get many eyes.>>152949731Yeah it is.After only posting like 1 short fic a whole year for '23 and '24, I decided to make the change and managed to put out more in '25 (not every month but at least I had big chapters and stories to show for it that year) and have been putting out a story a month so far for '26Feeling good so far.
>>152949679Ironically I started a secondary AO3 account due to popular demand from on the old Murder Drones threads when the show was still ongoing, from anons who liked my greens but thought they were getting way too fucking long for the greentext formatThen I suffered tagging paralysis trying to figure out how to properly tag it and I've had a chapter 1 done for a fic for like, 2 years now that never got published because I can't figure out how to tag it properly. And not in the sense of not knowing how tags work, but because my 'tism wants my fic to be tagged "correctly".
>>152949679I would if I had written any.
>>152949791>There's just so little opportunity to talk about it hereDoesn't help that /co/ fanfic threads are an absolute crapshoot as to whether or not a random mod decides to kill the thread for no reason out of nowhere. Frankly I'm surprised this thread is even still alive.
>>152949836Me too, it's a real anomaly.Same goes for /v/ they've had some really good ones get nuked out of the blueNothing worse than putting a lot of time into a post for the thread to 404 right after
>>152949439Funny coincidence, I just went over 20k words recently on a chapter I'm writing now for my story, but the reason it's so long is that it's the penultimate chapter that contains numerous final fights and action scenes between multiple characters. It's much longer than any other chapter in my story but because of what it is, it fits.
How many people here use Chat GPT and other things like that to write stories? I can't make a full story, but I can feed a machine prompts of what I want. It's ultimately low effort crap for no one but myself, but I'm easily pleased.
>>152949679No but I have seen anons recommend my fics before and it’s always a nice feeling to see someone enjoy something I wrote.
>>152949924Oh yeah, if it's a willful choice and it makes sense, absolutely go for itIt's just something to remain cognizant of and not to lose track off as it can make a story really unwieldly
>>152949876Honestly, I hate the "No Fun Allowed" mods of the modern era in general. I used to use /v/ a lot more back in the day. I remember EEnE online threads on /v/. Hell, for the fun of it I started a.txt document that was formatted as a hypothetical "wiki" for it awhile back but without the threads I stopped updating it. I remember /v/ermin /v/eekend. Watching that die was painful because they tried to find homes on different boards and the same mod chased them out every time and eventually they moved to discord.Hell, one year they tried to ban /v/ the musical but thank fuck that didn't stick because it's one of the last bastions of real fun on that board anymore, and then it only happens for a month once a year.
>>152949959Saw this exactly once and it was greatWriting for yourself is the most important thing but thought out complimentary comments, fanfic/art of your fanfic and stuff like that feels fucking wonderful
>>152949980Why did this happen?
>>152949980Yeah overzealous jannying sucks especially when we still have fucking ai generals>/v/ermin /v/eekendFucknot to get too offtopic but mentions of /v/ermin is so fucking rare on this site it pains me greatlyI only ever lurked but the whole /v/ermin thing was so fucking cool and I got (and still am) really taken with the whole concept. It used to be so damn big having multiple threads on /v/ hit bump limit during a tourney and like you said had threads on multiple boards. It was like one of the best forms of collaborative art I've seen on the site.I remember watching it fall apart in 2020 with the banishment to /vg/, that whole year was janny-nanny'd to hell with threads for foxhole and a lot of other smaller multiplayer games getting 404'd for "having too many threads".Though truthfully too /v/ermin had a lot of behind the scenes shit dragging it down too, like whoever it was that sperged so fucking hard trying to dox any and all artists involved (which includes pretty much every major drawfag on /v/, like 2x the april fool princess guy was involved, I see so many drawfags from /v/ermin still just by the artstyle like commonbleat funnily enough I just did a fanfic about some of his characters from a comic he did). Lot of insane raging about the discord they were pushed off to to the point where you can't even do nostalgia threads for it cause the schizo NEVER misses the threads and sniffs out even similar stuff. The funny thing too is that one of the schizos posted his stuff in the most recent /v/ermin thread on /v/ and having looked through what he posted and having saved literally thousands /v/ermin sheet I could quickly tell who he was and that he posted on the discord at one point in time for a while so it's like ??????I didn't mean to sperg about this as it's unrelated but it too like fanfic is very hard to discuss now and I realized a while ago that /v/ermin is almost 10 years old and that hit me like a sack of bricks
>>152950079The internet in general is less fun now than it used to be. People are angrier than ever nowadays, they want to tear things down instead of celebrate what they do enjoy.
>>152950079When small people get even a little bit of power they get petty and hateful about it. It’s all about control when you get down to it.
>>152950095No, go on anon. I enjoy stories like these from back when the internet was pure SOVL
>>152950128I think that mostly comes down to the death of nuance. So many people live in hyperbole now. Either something is the best shit ever, or absolute garbage. We live in a world where "mid", literally "middle" is considered to be on the same tier as "shit". Where a 7/10 is considered "bare minimum" TribalismUs vs. ThemNo thoughtful discourse. No respectful disagreements. You can't disagree with someone, the other person has to be WRONG. You can't dislike something but understand why others might like it, you don't like it so it must be SHIT(Group you don't like) likes [Thing]? I HATE [THING[!I follow the development of a game. A very flawed game. A flawed game with a shitty, asshole developer. I like the game, I enjoy it, and I think it absolutely has its audience. I think its developer is a piece of shit. I have presented this viewpoint in that game's community and been called a developer bootlicker, in a post where I called the developer a "legitimately bad person" Because I expressed a positive opinion on that game. Which I think is also part of what makes it so hard to discuss fanfic anymore too. Too many people looking at fanfic from either the viewpoint of Hyper-fixated autismo, or "fanfic is cringe and you're cringe for liking it." Those are the camps, and to both of those camps, you have to be in one or the other. You're with them, or against them. The fact that the whole "proshiper/anti-shipper" thing existing is a strong example of that too. OUR glorious freedom of creativity. THEIR regressive censorshipOUR outstanding moral compass. THEIR disgusting fetish-driven debauchery. On and on.
>>152950260Well, that's just it, it wasn't like it was long long ago when things were way way better, it just took off from 2017 - 2020. I missed it's heyday somehow but things were holding together by the time I peeked into it, but it was going down the drain not long after. It's a really interesting 4chan microcosm that was pretty damn big for a time but all but forgotten, and it's legacy is all the more hindered by the fact that most of those who care to remember are mindbroken by it and eternally seething over it.It was just a little tournaments people would through together in a rudimentary engine of whoever decided to host's choice pitting drawings against each other, like a crude pokemon pastiche. The kind of thing that encouraged anon's to draw whatever they wanted to compete with other anon's drawings. Fun, right? It was fun, and it got big. Big enough that, as I mentioned before, really good artists got involved, established drawfags or drawfags that would later on be established. Big enough that people started to be able to tell who was who even if they didn't offer a name to call them. Big enough that people started drawing lore and fanart of other anon's vermins, and later on porn (there was a decently fast general on /trash/ for some years). There has been 3 seperate boorus even and 2 wikis. This lasted on /v/ for about 3-4 years total. Hosts came and went. Tourneys did too. Like any 4chan community, drama reared its head, mostly due to the recognizable artist thing. It's hard to tell what exactly caused it or where it was coming from but there was a lot of spam in the threads namedropping artists and screaming about them killing the whole thing, people mad about how big the porn side of things got (the porn was pretty damn great but yeah it could be a bit much, at its heaviest I don't think it'd be wrong to say some artists were using it as a porn OC vehicle). (1/2)
>>152948957LM Studio (backend) + SillyTavern (frontend)LM Studio is completely straightforward and idiot proof, the only thing about it is picking the best model for your needsAnd SillyTavern can be daunting at first, but it's good enough vanilla that it'll hook you into looking up how to use it better.
>>152950128>>152950207I was hoping the answer would be a rational measure taken in response to some problems the board has had to deal with and not the depressing reality. Well, at least you didn't mention the jews and indians; it commonly pops up too.
>>152950260Really? I always hated these types of person. It's always this milquetoast outsider to a community clinging to the idea of the group's good times and vicariously considering themselves part of the community. So now decades down the line they're like that old man at the bar who can only rant about the good old days but he had nothing to do with it other than leeching off more productive individuals. Now that they're gone or in some cases broken up by drama it sounds more like an ex who swears things would be better without having made any changes to keep the relationship viable. Yeah bro you wasted your life and have nothing to show for it, keep on wallowing in nostalgia.
>>152950411Sounds like a personal problem. History is always written by people.
>>152950395I think a big part of the issue too was, like I mentioned, spurned users from a previous discord I never saw. I think some of the artists talked amongst themselves on a previous one and some of them were unhinged and wound collector types, but this is old unverifiable stuff. At the same time, you had people screeching about this discord running the show or something (after what I've seen these people or likely person was probably someone banned from the old one).Another big part of the downfall was like the other anon mentioned, jannies taking a huge hateboner to it. It persists now, but back then there was a real problem particularly on /v/ but also here about some mods/jannies being super anal about repeat threads, like say a new vidya has threads that hit bump limit so a new one is made. Yeah, some mods hated this shit and kicked threads to /vg/ over it or just deleted themIf you didn't know, that is the sole reason why /vm/, /vrpg/, /vst/, and /vmg/ exist, yes really. I have no clue why mods decided this was a that big of an issue, though I know it wasn't just /v/ermin as foxhole, limbus company i think, and SCP secret lab all got shafted hard in this time. Also, the thing kinda ran its course, or at least was supersaturated near the end. I've seen some other anons talk about this regarding it and hadn't really thought about it, but the threads were pretty damn fast in it's heyday like 3-4 threads for one tourney and that that might've burned through the collective energy for the whole thing. At some point, new people stopped coming in for reasons and it was just the same old good artists and the people or person that fucking hated their guts so the threads got slow and nasty and that kind of thing is a real extinction vortex. Then the threads were permanently exiled to /vg/ then tourneys stopped getting enough entrants to fire off, and then the threads stopped being made.
>>152950347You hit the nail square on the head with this post man. People are just so divided nowadays and there’s a general sense of self righteousness about it too that I can’t stomach. An anon will see a thread dedicated to something he doesn’t like and instead of thinking that’s not the place for me I’ll go somewhere else they’ll enter the thread just to shit it up and then dedicate literal months of their life to tracking down every mention of it just to continue being a menace and they’ll act like they’re in the right for doing so. It’s a kind of spite I just don’t prescribe to and unfortunately I’ve been seeing a lot more of it lately.
>>152950395I remember the host shortage towards the end of its lifepsan. I tried to learn to code so I could make my own engine and host sometimes (and expand on my /v/ermins' lore while I was at it) but it just wasn't clicking for me and I kind of gave up. I even had a little lore chart set up. I should really try recycling Honest Gobby/Gonest Jobby into some other project, he was a fun character, and I miss doing shit with him.
>>152950347Your answer is the best shit ever 100/10But you're right. That's most discussions I see online, finding a legitimately interesting, mature discussion is so rare that everyone praises it when they find it (like that Boondocks joke, "did you just praise me for knowing how to read?"). Other times, it might look like a mature, well thought exchange, but in reality it's two sides trying their hardest to prove the other wrong and an idiot for their beliefs, while proving yourself superior (and neither open to put themselves in the other's perspective). You notice it in that lack of civility. There's also that strong phenomenon of shaming anyone who likes a different (albeit, objectively bad) product. I have been in both sides, not gonna lie, but because I can't comprehend how can something so bad be defended (ranging from products you just have to turn your brain off, to more political topics like race swap, agendas, inclusivity).Haters and trolls are something else, but do their part ruining discourse.Have the internet users always been this extremist? People always have been, and I don't remember it being that different from my early years in the net (despite my limited scope).
>>152921122I’m currently writing a dragon mango fanfic called Dragon Mango: a Harrowing Tale of Horrid Hallucinations. I’m almost done chapter 1.
>>152949679maybe i would if people are interested but my stuff is niche so i doubt it
>>152950502So around 2021 the modern discord group for the whole thing was formed, and that's were it remains to this day.Attempts to reinvigorate the concept of /v/ always fail; the schizo(s) will not let it slide, and the interest just really isn't there. The discord has slowed a lot too; there's still plenty of cool art there and it's not anywhere near as faggy as I would've expected, but it's slow now, and it simply isn't the same as it's a closed system, there's not really any new blood coming in. They are doing a cool thing where they're going to get a booth at some new york anime/nerd convention and have a real life tourney based on what people draw with tablets on site, which is pretty sick. But at it's core it's simply a shadow of what it once was.Like I mentioned earlier, it hurts to think about it's slow death and the fact it was once so big and cool and fresh and also so long ago.The thing that really gets me is the sort of realization I had that alongside it going the way of the dodo, I've noticed other collaborative art threads have . . . just disappeared? I mean like Save the Princess threads, Get the Cake, redraw this character (we did have that homer one recently here which was nice). It feels like these are dying, whether that's due to 4chan's general population decline, the rise in mobile users, intense jannying or some combination of the mix I don't know, but this realization bugged the crap out of me. I noticed it more on the /v/ side, but at least /co/ has it's drawthread intact and the other creative threads like the oc thread and uh ai guess edit threads. I don't always interact with collab art threads but they are a pretty vital aspect of imageboards that other sites simply do not replicate very well and it would be a big loss for those to go away. That's all I have to dump out about this thing I liked a lot. Doesn't really have dick to do with fanfic but uhh I guess it's fanwork in general so idk. Thanks for bringing it up tho.
>>152950596Link your shit you little tease~
>>152950519Playing devil's advocate, I can understand the need to be vocal about things you dislike/hate, specially in a place where everyone is talking about how much they love it.I mean, it's like when you need to be vocal about an injustice or a community behaviour you heavily disagree with. If you don't, who else will? When it's in bad faith, or just... whatever, the word just won't come to me. You'll look bad, out of place, and just harness the negativity towards you.Do it smartly. And this applies to anyone who wants to overshare their obsessions.
>>152932136That sounds really interesting actually
>>152950553Ah cool to see someone more involved in the whole thingYeah I didn't mention the host side of things but I remember it being an issue even early on once vfc cast off.I've been messing around with an engine for a little while now, gotta put more effort into learning the damn godot (my fanfic writing time is unfortunately preventing me from getting as much time on it in tho lol)Really just working on making simple battles working with a roster of all my favorite vermin I've saved over the years (fucking tons at this point). Have got the basics worked out but need to scale and work out the kinks of the basic combat system. Also yeah to circle back the thread topic there was a lot of lore made up that one could say is a kind of fanficAlso yeah go ahead and recycle him, pretty much every other /v/ermin drawfag has done so with their stuff.
>>152950396That gives me a good start, think I saw that name before. I couldn't get into researching this (as in which of all these countless models and versions I'm supposed to pick and safety) because it was right at the time my pc died and had to work on that... AAAAND along with college it made me lose interest in all my hobbies.
>>152950780>it was right at the time my pc diedIf you don't have a decent PC, your options can be a bit more limited. If you're running 8gb VRAM or less, I'd recommend skipping LMStudio and using an API key off of OpenRouter, though they just nuked all their good free models on there as well, so... yeah
>>152950662A completely fair and valid point and one I ultimately agree with. People should absolutely be allowed to voice their honest opinions, be they negative or positive. What I don’t get is when someone decides to act like a schizo and make hating a cartoon or whatever a core part of their identity to the point they dedicate a portion of their life to lurking in a general for something they purportedly despise just to shit on it.
Two years later, and I'm about to put the finishing touches on the second chapter. I've wanted to get back in the saddle as far as writing. I see working on this as the litmus test for me if I'm serious about having the motivation to actually do it. I've let my real world obligations be a crutch to demotivate myself for long enough. I finished this story I've been thinking about for about a year now for a very niche series. It's sort of a bummer that it'll get very little traction due to the series' obscurity, but I knew what I was signing up for, and I'm at least happy that all my ideas about these characters are now written down in a coherent way. Now, I can read the whole thing from the very top, and when I finish reading it, I get to think to myself, "The End."
>>152949957Hey man, you do you, boo. I too also like to fuck around with some stupid ideas for my own entertainment. The problem with programs like chatgpt is they struggle to be consistent. The most optimal thing you can do is legit write out the whole thing you wanna write and ask for spelling checks, grammar and scene detailing. Sometimes I struggle to explain the environment around me with the esact details I want, so I'll use chatgpt to help get a better idea on writing minor details.
>>152951931It's a good feeling. Being able to read your whole story from start to end. I have a horrible habit of creating way too ambitious project that I spend waaay to much time trying to fine tune details when about half way I get burned out and never finish them. My problem with most fanfictions is that the characters are always written with obvious notes and "Deep" lore from the show or comic in their dialogue. For example, if you were writing a fan fiction about Thomas the Tank Engine, why the hell would you have Thomas mention he is an LB&SCR E2, have him call the railway "The Northwestern Railway", and have him mention each station by name in casual conversation?
>>152953098I'm not writing under my real name, but I have other reasons.

>>152962740>Fic actually has some interesting ideas and concepts>It's just plain poorly writtenThis bothers me even more than just straight up shitty fics. Where you see the potential but the author just plain isn't a very good writer.
>>152963040A legitimate fear for any writer genuinely trying their best I think.
The webcomic thread was too much of a failure you people decided to give up and turn to this?
>>152962950Why does the one on the right look like an alien?
>>152963219You can’t just ask asian people why they look like aliens anon
I want to write a fanfic but the problem is that I need someone talented to literally understand me
>>152921122This Ongezellig fic called Bets Against Your Void>archiveofourown.org *slash* works *slash* 75707676I left a nice comment and the author freaked out & deleted it after somebody pointed out how I wrote Schoppenboer incest fics lel
>>152921122Negev x Kar98k is still top tier in and share absolute insanity of the concept, if you know you know.
>>152958128Or just you're interest moving to another property and the fandom being much smaller and with less fanfic communityLike I've had a lot less comments since I've moved from pokemon stuff
>>152963309What was that? You say something?Sorry, I couldn’t understand you.
>>152963169the only good webcomics are on e621
>>152963040I hate when a fic is really high concept and has a lot of moving parts and you can just tell the author went way above his paygrade and has to abandon it. I read this AOT fanfic about What if Frieda Reiss didn't get eaten once that stopped being updated and then got deleted in an attempt to hide his shame.
To whoever IP range banned me you are a meanie :(I wanted to post some fanfic inspired fanart I made but I can’t.
>>152921122I read some good lesbians getting dicked fanfictions
Which fanfics do you wish had been made official canon?
>>152963685>>152963685Dipper goes to taco bell
>>152963685Would have been a thousand times better than anything they've put out since the original>>152921605
>>152963652Which ones?
>>152963685Jokes on youIt was made canon.
>>152932143Naruto crossover fics where Naruto is clearly not Naruto, but is instead the author's self insert
>>152945506>Sins in Twisters>Came into a fic expecting Loudcest with a it of twister info>Author is actually very passionate about all that goes into storm chasingWeird, but still interesting
>>152964902Naruto as a property has a lot of really bad Naruto but Freaking Epic/evil fics
>>152932143A good premise being abandoned or thrown out in favor of an aspect I absolutely did not come to that fic for. I remember reading a Dragon Ball fic once. Very basic premise. Bardock's visions are a lot more specific, he actually manages to convince the Saiyans to GTFO because Frieza's going to kill them all, has them jump ship for earth, and he's aggressively trying to keep the timeline on track despite this change.A lot of cool and interesting ideas there, could be really fun. What I got: >"My OCs are so sexy and the characters are fucking all the time" (not even smut that's hot to read, just off-handed mentions of sex happening and characters talking about being horny) >What if young Bulma became an edgelord because of young Vegeta?>What if Bulma is a villain for an entire arc because of this? And, of course, every Dragon Ball fan's favorite aspect of the franchise:>Interpersonal character politicsAnd it's not like the fic or the characters were poorly written, it's just like... None of this shit is what I wanted from the premise it presented itself with. And it just veers further and further away from what I came for in the first place.
>>152965045>Naruto is openly abused by the village to the point of physical torture >Civilian Council >Harem/Clan Restoration Act>12 year olds having sex (Old enough to kill, old enough to fuck) >Naruto is evil, but still defends the village for some reason>Naruto also has the Sharingan and Mokuton and the Gamer, but he's not OP>Kakashi, Sasuke, Sakura, Jiraiya bashing>"You can read up to 10 chapters in advance on my P@tReOn!" Hmm this is obviously shit...>Tayuya livesAw fuck it, let's give it a shot.
>>152965207>Naruto is openly abused by the village to the point of physical tortureUsed to be real funny sometimes where Naruto would have his skull caved in during broad daylight people would spit on the body and 3rd Hokage himself would rub salt in the wounds but all was well because of Ninetails.>Civilian CouncilI believe it but remind me why this was bad again?
I wish we could have more fanfic threads
>>152965432Best for them to be rare
>>152964949The author's passion reminds me of my autistic friend who loves trains. Once in a while he'll take me out to watch trains, and the entire time he's just speaking things way out of my element, but there's something about people being excited about an interest. Only reason I go to baseball games is to see my best friend glow.
>>152963467I hope you get RAPED
Can't find any good writing spacesIt's all filled with woke dipshits or snarky "media literate" millenials
>>152964902Or the fanfics about anthro worlds, where some out of shape, goofy human dipshit who is clearly the writer hooks up with the hottest female main character.
>>152965045For me, it's Biting the Fox That Guards You
>>152963685The Brazilian guy’s queens of Mewni.
Very late but I made this because I like Stand and Deliver
>>152965432Perhaps we could try for two threads a month?
