The Thunderbirds reboot casually drops some lore that there was a world war involving robotic, A.I.-driven, spaceship-chasing, stealth nuclear mines in just its 3rd episode and then never brings up the topic again for the remaining 75 episodes of the series.
Writing for any piece of media is always a fucking mess, so many things can affect how the stories turn out from outside influences meddling, something happening to the people involved or the person in charge doing drugs or something and deciding this is the perfect time to uproot their life and have their work reflect that.

He makes Spongebob "honorary town rookie of the day", I assume OP meant this could've came back in some way. Though I think the only potential this has is if they did another modern season callback to some random ass thing, where Plankton does a good deed, becomes town rookie, and tries to abuse the power. Otherwise I don't see the show normally bringing it back in the old run nor any other potential. Solely something a modern season episode would do so people could point at it.I'm really disappointed no one in this thread even remembers this scene.
