Other styles tend to be lopsided on trading control for expectations (authoritarian parenting wants control at the expense of emotional support.) It's unfortunate that other styles tend to get promoted as being "fine" due to the normalization of them causing people to get just world biased toward believing bad parenting traits are deserved for some children whilst parents don't take accountability for their parenting tacit. Authoritative parenting can be challenging but it ultimately the most beneficial in the long term for children, and the parent if they're willing to learn about themselves and their behaviors along the way.TL;DR Everyone needs a Fran in their life.
