Was The Marvels really that bad? I reckon it ended on a pretty big cliffhanger to be completely memory-holed.
>>152949354>cliff hangerNever saw either captain marvel or the marvels, what was the cliff hanger in the second one? I will say at least the girl playing kamala khan seems sweet irl and i like her character. A shame shes associated with brie larsons bullshit.
>>152949354Brie was a giant miscast for Captain Marvel, and I ain't one of those incels who reeee at everything she does
>>152949377Agreed , she was quite terrible in the role, inside and out of it too.
>>152949354I feel like Brie Larson deserves to be rewarded for becoming a sweeter person and for no longer acting in slop. She redeemed herself and now she's just a Mario fangirl doing her best.
>>152949354Half of the cast isn't in Doomsday>>152949377She was better in the second one>>152949492you are a nigger
>>152949375>Never saw either captain marvel or the marvels, what was the cliff hanger in the second one?Photon (Monica Rambeau) is stuck in the X-Men universe. Not even nostalgia bait can save this movie.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61krLrq8DJY>>152949548>She was better in the second oneShe was thinner but...
>>152949377I still want her to give me a blowjob
>>152949548She's awful in every appearance, you nibber. You have no taste.
>>152949354Haven't seen either Captain Marvel films but I think the first Captain Marvel film only made as much money as it did because it came out during a time when audiences would eat up any garbage from the MCU and it was riding the hype from Avengers Infinity War. Right now, audiences are going through MCU fatigue (honestly, this post was the first time I even heard about The Marvels). If Captain Marvel was released during this time, I reckon it would've similarly bombed.
>>152949722MCU fatigue is a misidentification of the issue, which is simply that it went from good movies with the occasional slop to slop tv shows and movies with occasional good shows and movies. The quality dropped, the lore you needed to know to understand what the fuck was going on increased, and people stopped turning out. Captain Marvel was the beginning of that trend, tons of people turned out for the next MCU movie, thought 'that was meh" and didn't put the next movie on their calendar.
>>152949878aide from the "homework" angle I feel like even most of what's considered Golden Age MCU was more weak than strong. Thor and Cap 1 were considerably vastly inferior to Iron Man, Iron Man 2 was considered worse than them all. The Avengers performed well, but then the next phase had Winter Soldier, Guardians, and then a lot of shit people never talk about being any good, with the second Avengers being considered worse than the first as well. I'd argue Captain Marvel was every bit as good as most of what was put out during peak MCU, in that the majority of peak MCU was pretty meh.
>>152949919Yeah, there's definetly a heavy bias towards the Infinity saga due to the hype at the time + the nostalgic memories of it. Most of the films were just ok.
>>152949919> good movies with the occasional slop>b-but what if I point out the occasional slop and insinuate there's more!?Problem: there isn't more. Phase 1 was rocky, but at least they never fell below mediocre. Here's Phase 2 and 3:Phase 2 Iron Man 3 (2013) Thor: The Dark World (2013) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Ant-Man (2015) Phase 3 Captain America: Civil War (2016) Doctor Strange (2016) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Thor: Ragnarok (2017) Black Panther (2018) Avengers: Infinity War (2018) Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) Captain Marvel (2019) Avengers: Endgame (2019) Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) The only films that aren't at least good are Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain Marvel, and the first two mostly have execution issues with still strong character work. Thor 2 at least had the sense to pair up Thor and Loki for most of the runtime. Now you may draw quality line somewhere else, but I said good movies vs slop, and even if Holland ranks behind Japanese Spider Man in live action for you, even those are never slop.
>>152950578Iron man 3 is when i started hating the MCU. The mandarin twist actually made me not only start shitting on marvel movies but made me alot more critical of media at large and less of a blind fanboy
>>152950578Depends on how you measure quality. Personally, I don't get the hype for IM1, it's a pretty boilerplate 00s cape flick story. Cap is a four act film missing it's third act. Thor has bad pacing issues.>>152949919CM has some pretty bad issues as a film: the MC has a wooden portrayal for large chunks of the film, stakes are never properly set so tension is flat, and the villains are always outmatched by the hero.
>>152949354MCU continuity is starting to look a lot like the comics continuity, and not in a good way.
>>152949542Yeah, no. She literally picked the one character that is being written as a bigger insufferable boss girl than peach.
>>152950751>MCU continuity is starting to look a lot like the comics continuity, and not in a good way.Is there a good way?
>>152950738>Phase 1 was rocky, but at least they never fell below mediocre. >Now you may draw quality line somewhere else, but I said good movies vs slop, and even if Holland ranks behind Japanese Spider Man in live action for you, even those are never slop.
>>152950610You traded one overexuberance for its opposite.
>>152950932Okay, since you're being an ass. IM1 sucks, TFA is 3/4s of a film, and Thor sucks. The only quality films of Phase 1 were TIH and IM2 - Avengers never goes beyond "competent."
>>152951269>The only quality films of Phase 1 were TIH and IM2Iron Man 2 is dogshit. Its the worst of the three Iron Man films. If it wasn't for Thor, it'd be the worst of the Phase 1 films. What are you smoking.
