I've tried reading the Drake and Morrison runs and didn't enjoy much of either one.
For the Drake run, I liked how clean the art was, but the stories were generic Silver Age randomness, which gets old fast.
For the Morrison run, I really hated the art. It was not up to par for the level of craziness coming from the writing., especially with those covers and guest artists. The writing was also frustrating, because there was a lot of good ideas that were not really explored and it was altogether too formulaic in the end. The same apocalyptic scenario caused by entities with objects for heads that spoke funny kept happening.

The TV show was surprisingly good. Not flawless, it drags on the later seasons, but overall pretty fun for what it was.
