Overrated comic book runs thread.
Greg Paks hulk run is extremely overrated and doesn’t deserve the praise it gets
>>
>>152958112
Wrong, is second best after PAD run.
>>
>>152958112
If you wanted to post an overrated run, Immortal Hulk is RIGHT THERE.
>>
>>152958112
Claremont's X-Men. It does not deserve its current legendary status.
>>
>>152958112
Immortal Hulk
O'Neil's The Question
Tom King's Vision
>>
>>152958112
I thought everyone hated world war hulk
My choice is kind of specific, but the middle section of Alan Moore's Swamp-Thing is lacking compared to the beginning the and the end
>>152958354
>O'Neil's The Question
Yeah fuck this run
>>
>>152958242
Claremont is soap opera shit for women
>>
>>152958112
Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. I thought I got trolled after finishing it. But no, people actually like that shit.
>>
>>152958419
>Women
Now I know why modern day X-Men are so trooncoded.
>>
>>152958196
Immortal hulk is kino
>>
>>152958354
>Immortal Hulk
>Tom King's Vision
Yeah fuck these turds.
>>
bitchboy OP got his feelings hurt getting called out for being a contrarian faggot in the recs thread >>152925441
>>
>>152958852
That’s not me, I haven’t been on this board in days
>>
>>152958354
>O'Neil's The Question
The other two are obviously bad, but this one was a disappointment. O'Neil was a very important figure in comics, and I respect what he did for the Batman franchise, but he wasn't that great of a writer.
>>
>>152958112
Most runs are overrated. Even the good ones.
>>
>>152958196
>>152958354
>>152958803
>Immortal Hulk
Does /co/ like anything or is it just an anti fandom/hatedoom circle jerk
>>
>>152959673
I like Moore's Swamp Thing, which is kinda like Immortal Hulk.
>>
>>152959673
Immortal Hulk is more disliked than liked by everyone expect critics so I don't know what you're confused about
>>
>>152959745
>Immortal Hulk is more disliked than liked by everyone expect critics
It has high ratings on every website and it's considered to be one of the best runs by the Hulk subreddit but sure
>>
>>152959745
>Immortal Hulk is more disliked than liked by everyone
>t. mr I get all my opinions straight from the 4chan echo chamber
>>
>>152960063
Reddit is casual center so that doesn't prove anything
>>152960182
Naw I have real comic friends who didn't care for it and have seen it shit talked elsewhere besides here
>>
>>152960208
Immortal Hulk was a top selling book you are just coping
>>
>>152960403
So is absolute Batman and that's putrid shit. Only casuals think Immortal is good
>>
>>152960523
So we went from "everyone hates Immortal" to "only casuals like it"...
>>
>>152960403
>Top-selling
That's what makes it overrated. Because it was popular and not as good as people were saying.
>>
>>152960660
Again you hipsters are coping
>>
>>152958354
>Immortal Hulk
Tom King is obviously bad but this one was shockingly bad considering the hype at the time.
>>
>>152958395
>I thought everyone hated world war hulk
I never noticed general hatred for it here. Most people seem to like Planet Hulk, sure. Most people probably hate the retarded Illuminati status quo that led to it, sure. But hating World War Hulk? Haven't seen it.
Also OP is talking about Pak's run in general, which includes more stuff. Personally I like the later part of it.
>>
>>152958880
you are lying
>>
>>152959745
>Immortal Hulk is more disliked than liked by everyone
you are so full of shit and defensive because the few sane normal people on this board can see through your mindbroken need to be as contrarian as possible
>>
>>152960523
>casuals
at least they read comics

you don't even read comics you just spend all your time on 4chan looking to rail on whatever is liked
>>
>>152959745
It sold really well and the comics returned to that tone right after Cates fucked it up

I think the following comic book runs are overrated:
>Morrison Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Bat Epic (I enjoy parts of these)
>Claremont X-Men and New Mutants (I still like the dynamic art from the Paul Smith era and the crazy art from BWS and Sienkiewicz(NM))
>Simonson's Thor (still one of the greatest intros to a comic ever)
>52
>Robinson Starman
>Gaiman Sandman (some single-issues stories are great)
>Waid Flash, World's Finest
>O'Neil The Question, Green Lantern/Green Arrow (waste of Neal Adams)
>Wolfman Teen Titans
>Brubaker Captain America
>Millar Ultimates
>Fraction Hawkeye (shame, I like the Mazzucchelli-inspired art)
>Ewing Ultimates, Immortal Hulk, Defenders
>Humphries Dial H
>Adams Flash
>MacKay Moon Knight
>Lee/Ditko Spider-Man (Ditko is great)
>Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four (Kirby is great)
>Ellis The Authority, Transmetropolitan
>Annihilation
>Y: The Last Man
>The Maxx
>The Boys
>The Superior Foes of Spider-Man
>Sideways
>Yang New Super-Man, Batman/Superman
>The Wrong Earth
>New Ultimate Spider-Man, X-Men, The Ultimates
>The Unbelievable Gwenpool
>Saga
>anything by Brian Michael Bendis
>anything by Tom King
I've never read anything by some of the most maligned writers, such as Dan Slott and Tom Taylor, so that's why you don't see them on the list.
>>
>>152963928
half of these are universally maligned
>>
>>152963928
Well remembered, Brubaker Captain America sucked.
>>
>>152963928
Smart, Reading anything by Dan Slott is black pilling makes you embarrassed to your core that you've ever got into comics.
>>
>>152964649
Such as?

kingdom come
all star superman
planetary

these are all good comics but overrated in my opinion

This shit. Literally only saved by the art. Can't believe we're at the point where a comic can gain acclaim simply for being a reference to a classic book/film with an even more meandering plot and anticlimactic ending.

Hellboy
Miller Daredevil
The Vision
Anything by Fraction

>>152971868
What's wrong with Miller Daredevil?
>>
>>152972050
It's overrated.
>>
>>152972248
Could you be more specific?
>>
>>152958112
This shit. It's just the ultimate fanboy Hulk wank. I'll add Morrison's shitty drug drugs drugs X-Men run and Quietly's dogshit art that managed to make even Jean & Emma look like Lovecraftian horrors.
>>
I swear, you fags don't like anything, do you? Also, "overrated" is a word used by contrarian bitches who can't properly articulate why they don't like something. You don't like something? Fine. Cool. Not everything has to be for everybody. But you really ought to be able to point out a specific reason beyond "I'm mad because I think other people like it too much."
>>
>>152972330
Quitely was great, but his faces were at their worst at that point. Not sure why, since he was much better about it in the 90s and later 2000s.
>>
>>152972448
And contrarian is a word used by bitches who can't properly articulate why they like something.

Everything Hickman and Ewing have ever written. Also Cuckoa in general.

I like a lot of comics. Also, I'm not angry in disliking these comics. I simply disagree with their acclaim.
Here are some of my favorite superhero runs:
>Swamp Thing, Miracleman, Captain Britain, Supreme, Tom Strong, and Top Ten by Alan Moore et al.
>Daredevil by Frank Miller
>Mage: The Hero Discovered by Matt Wagner
>Hitman, Preacher, and Punisher MAX by Garth Ennis et al.
>Zenith by Grant Morrison and Steve Yeowell
>S.H.I.E.L.D. by Steranko
>B.P.R.D.: Plague of Frogs by John Arcudi and Guy Davis
>Planetary by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday
>Concrete by Paul Chadwick
>Plastic Man by Jack Cole
>Magnus, Robot Fighter 4000 A.D. by Russ Manning
>Astro City by Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson (volumes 1 and 2)
I like parts of many other runs, but I cannot place them here until I've finished them, and I've omitted limited series altogether.
>>
>>152973294
Half of those are overrated.

I just moved to hell's kitchen, so I bought both zdarsky daredevil omnis. Figured it'd be kino to read a story set in my neighborhood.
It was so fucking bad. I was blown away anyone liked it. I forced my self to finish it because I bought them, but fuck bros I was actually laughing at how fucking stupid this run was. Checcetto's are was great, I love him, so that was good. But the writing was dogshit. I've never read any Daredevil, don't give a fuck about him, now I actually kinda hate him.
Matt seems so overtly melodramatic. I get he's Catholic, I get it I was raised catholic, but the entire time I was just getting annoyed with him. He seems so pathetic, and not in the root for the underdog way like Spidey. The Fist v.s Hand fight was such a boring dumb build up for a somehow even worse fight with little to no payoff. Can't even remember much and I only read it like a year ago. Just remember thinking damn I wasted money on it.
>>
>>152973363
Which ones and why?
>>
>>152958354
Is immortal hulk the one where that random black woman told hulk he was allowed to be angry because he's not black?
>>
>>152973523
Yes.
>>
>>152973523
>because he's not black?
And there you have it the number 1 reason so many chuds hold a grudge against Ewing
>>
>>152973523
Yeah right after blacks tried to burn down America because a fent druggie died of an OD whilst in police custody and whites were nice enough to just let them.
>>
>>152973545
It's just done badly. Ewing weirdly shoehorns this progressive appeasement into his comics and ruins them. If he worked it in more naturally, I wouldn't mind.
>>
>>152972448
What do you like?
>>
>>152973591
>Ewing weirdly shoehorns this progressive
Don't worry, he consulted with a trans person later on to get it right later on in the run.
>>
>>152974476
dude prolly doesn't like anything either
>>
>>152974670
Oh ok.
>>
To the people who thinks immortal hulk is the best hulk run ever:
Read some hulk comicbooks from before 2014.
Thanks in advance.
>>
>>152973591
Hulk did also replay with "lol, I don't care"
>>
>>152973591
The main villain of part 1 was a black man but keep crying I love chud's tears.
>>
>>152975506
>To the people who thinks immortal hulk is the best hulk run ever:
Ewing's was especially praised by long time Hulk fans but sure
>>
>>152975627
And?
>>
>>152958112
Everything.
>>
>>152958112
Nothing.
>>
>>152961603
>But hating World War Hulk? Haven't seen it.
WWH had this gigantic buildup with Hulk about to fuck all of the avengers in the ass, and instead it just ends up as a wet fart. I remember back when /co/ storytimed it as it came out, people were listening to Gustav Holst's Mars, Bringer of War while reading the first issues, and then everyone was disappointed when it ended.
