Comics probably aren't popular because the writing is too high IQ. Trying to give Absolute Batman a chance and I have to pay attention too much. With even the most complex manga (Deathnote for example) I can just turn my brain off and enjoy the ride. Are there any easier reads I can tackle to get into comics?

As someone who reads both comics and manga, I know the real answer.

ADAPTATIONS! 99.9% of popular manga only get popular because they have an anime. It's that fucking simple. The only manga that I've seen get "big" in the last 10 years without an anime was Chainsaw man.

>but ___ is a manga that's big and it doesn't have an anime yet
Bitch, we both know whatever manga you are talking about is only big in manga reading circles and no one else cares about it. Also, if it ever gets an anime, you better believe that there will be a boost in sales. .

Comics arent popular because they try to be preachy and high iq but are written by manchildren who couldnt cut it as screenwriters/writers
Also too much politics and redundant shit like 4 black robins and 2 of them are trans
Go read transformers by skybound
Beats skywarp to death with his own arm

But even comics that don't have adaptations are more popular than some big name comics, even before the adaptation shonen stuff is already more popular than shit like Spider-man comics or whatever
>>
>>152958526
also a manga reader here and i disagree. maybe you only read shounen? comics have a lot of problems/reasons they arent as popular as manga and the IQ of the writing is not the reason imo. Also a lot of the writing is the writer pretending to be high IQ, not actually being high IQ. Pretty see through actually

This. I tried Absolute and was lost. Sorry not all of us went to university. But makes sense why failing now.

this is bait written by a /co/fag trying to depitc m/a/nga enjoyers as low IQ

Oh my god. Is this bait? Is this really an /a/fag confessing that most manga is for brainlets? And please don't say that comics are too high IQ, back then they tried but now they definitely don't lmao

It has a learning curve in that it takes a few issues to sort of make sense. Your supposed to be kind of lost at first.

It is literally just the lack of an animated adaptation. Animate a few Hulk runs with a stellar animation and shonenfags would eat it up.

It's honestly not that bad, its not Moore or Morison pretensious level tough
>>

It's not high IQ but you're right that it's way more involved than it needs to be.
One big difference is that a lot of manga is made with the expectations of picking up new or returning readers who'd miss some events in the past chapters. Its done fairly breezy and less clunky than the Shooter era of marvel with characters giving a breakdown of their powers every time. I think that's why it feels less daunting.
A comic will tell you about a prior event that insinuate you NEED to read issue *. A manga will say a recap and it just comes off more natural.
>>
>>152959994
That is something I'm still baffled by. There just being effectively no direct accurate adaptations to comics.

Cross pollination. People recognize the SJ name because they read SL manga like MHA. Do you have any idea how much SJ uses it's popular manga to promote the other stuff?

Fuck man, that Radiant Black universe was made for it. Start animating some of those runs and it would make sales for past and future books skyrocket.

The real problem is the animation industry in general. Have you ever wondered why Japan can pump out cartoons like crazy while the US can maybe make one show at 5 times the cost with half the animation quality?

Honest to goodness question: How is that working for invincible? Does it sell more now than it did when it was coming out?

The TPBs probably

Manga generally don't get adaptations unless they are popular and selling well in the first place, retard. It's why, excluding a few cases, manga that get axed 20 chapters in never get an anime.
