It's a good movie but it's not the second coming of the Golden era of Disney. I don't get why so many people are obsessed with this especially the normal population. I did not think that many people actually saw it
>>

K-Pop Demon Hunters is objectively pretty fucking popular, I don't know what to tell you dude. Where do you live and what kind of people do you hang out with?
>>
>>152963465
It's the new Frozen.

I support the KPop Demon Hunters craze since it means today's children actually have a cartoon hit of their own to enjoy instead of millennials and elder zoomers' reheated leftovers.
>>
>>152963465
No it just seems like a rennaissance piece in comparison to everything else. Movies of kdh caliber ought to be coming out multiple times a year from different studios. It's so easy and simple to do what they did but studios refuse to do it because they dont like it.
>>
>>152963578
Frozen was a flash in the pan because one of its songs was a reheated ear worm.
>>
>>152963465
Not gonna lie, I kinda want to try the Hunter sauce

Can you order the breakfast meal anytime of the day? Because soda for breakfast is kinda fucked

Not generally, but some local places might let you. Depends where you live.

Dude I remember being in middle school and this one kid would just drink a can of coke for breakfast by itself. Poor people nutrition is just straight fucked.
>>

Yeah for real. I saw a kid at the bus stop yesterday with Rumi’s hairdo, good for them.

I don't know. This might be the push they needed to realize what audiences want to see.
You can bet there were a bunch of rich bastards in a boardroom trying to figure out why this movie was successful.
>>
>>152963465
Literally everything kpop related is astroturfed. Is the movie popular? Yes. Is the movie anywhere near as popular as the internet would have you believe? Not even close.
>>
>>152963465
I think it's genuinely more popular with little kids than with teenagers or adults. Teenagers can just get into actual k-pop and anime, little kids are still forming their tastes and probably appreciate a softer introduction to those topics. It's colorful, the characters are cute and there's nice songs. I've seen little kids dressed up as the characters just walking around my neighborhood.

Anyone who thinks this movie's success actually has anything to do with k-pop have misunderstood.
It's like thinking Frozen was successful because people like snow.
The k-pop thing is just the backdrop, and pop stars are universal.

It's really all about the appealing characters, catchy songs, and emotional plot.
Their celebrity status and barbie doll aesthetic appeals to young girls. And the fact that they're an idol group creates a sort of fake fandom people can latch onto, as if they were a real band. And in a way they are. Kinda like The Gorillaz or Vocaloids.

Satanic.
>>
>>152969440
I can only imagine that the reason why the execs had 0 faith in the movie is because it feels more oriented to the teen and tween demographic while every other western animated movie is aimed at children that are even younger
>>
It's just a trend. No one will be talking about it six months from now.

The state of media is such that watching a competently made movie is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that restructures the audience members' brains.

It's a pack of fucking Shin Ramen.
>>
>>152963465
Netflix struck gold with it, and they're simply milking it for all that it is worth.
>>
>>152963465
Disney hasn't had a win in a long time so they are going to milk this cash cow for all its worth. Better yet it has international appeal in Asia which is an added bonus for stretching out their market appeal.

Netflix meters says otherwise. It remained in the top ten for almost a whole year by now. Not only that but the music literally broke records no other KPop shitter could, not even the terrorist groups like BTS or EXO. It's getting too big

I think they just made the same mistake everyone else made. Assuming this movie is about k-pop which isn't popular enough to sustain a movie.
They were unable to see past the title.
They couldn't understand that Huntrix would actually just present as generic pop stars which are the modern equivalent of disney princesses, but more relatable.
They saw K-Pop when they should have been seeing Hannah Montana.
>>
>>152963465
It was, at the very least, competent. The story made sense, the characters had arcs, there were catchy tunes, and it looked nice.
When you have Disney putting out shit like Strange World and Wish, being competent is an accomplishment. Audiences responded well to that.
>>
>>152973607
Does anyone have any realworld testimonials about how EXACTLY executives make these greenlighting decisions? I know it's funny to imagine them as oblivious distracted drones, but surely they have some familiarity with public appetites for entertainment or heuristics for descisionmaking.

They had zero faith because they were racist. Literally.

>“We pitched the movie to Sony,” Kang explained in a recent interview. “And they passed on it. It’s a big risk to do a movie with a full Asian cast on something that’s very culturally Korean, which hasn’t been done before. K-pop was at its peak, but it could have plateaued. There was a lot of uncertainty with that. So we pitched it to Netflix. We had a full draft, a couple of demo songs, a ton of amazing art and a couple of scenes that I had [story]boarded that we cut. And there were three different animatics samples that we shared; and they loved it. And then we were off to the races.”

Its also a big case of studios not understanding a fucking thing about modern children. Its a big reason so many movies are dogshit these days.
KDH understood the KPop market extremely well, and also how to present that in a fun way. Sony fucked up big time by letting this go to Netflix. They handed them this generation's Frozen on a silver platter.
I still want to know if any executive at Sony lost their job over this.

Yeah, I personally think What It Sounds Like is the best Huntr/x song. Its got a lot of depth to its construction and some really great lyrics.
But for my guilty pleasure, its Soda Pop. Can't stop listening to that shit.
