Why wasn't Flapjack that popular?
>>
>>152966555
It wasn't able to get 52 episodes and before anyone calls me an episodefag, keep in mind whenever a CN show is popular, it gets 52 episodes at the very least. Courage, Powerpuff, Dexter, Eds, Grim, KND, Bravo, Lazlo, Cow and Chicken, Foster's, Gym Partner, Ben 10, and Samurai Jack all at the very least reached 52 episodes.

Did CN just not promote Flapjack that much? I remember towards the end, they were hardly rerunning the show. The final episode wasn't even advertised at all and just silently aired.

I'm honestly surprised Chowder even got a marathon leading up to the finale and one that was advertised a lot, because Chowder also didn't get to 52 half hours. It didn't even get to 50 half hours.

nice digits, it was popular. but it was just before the dawn of "give 6 year old ipad and they shut up"

Then why didn't it have the average amount of episodes a typical kids cartoon gets? The minimum amount to be syndicated? Usually when a cartoon doesn't reach 52 episodes, it's considered a failure. The only exception I can think of that isn't an anime is Gravity Falls, which was incredibly popular but Alex Hirsch was so burned out on the process of making a cartoon he decided to end it with two seasons and 40 episodes.

>>152966566
Also, if the show was popular, Cartoon Network would have never given the finale zero advertisement whatsoever and hardly rerun the show months before it even ended. The finale didn't even premiere with new episodes of the other comedy originals, just by itself isolated

This (far too grotesque for normos)
>>
>>152966794
and yet, Billy and Mandy was one of the biggest shows on CN when it was on and that show was very gross.
>>
>>152966814
It wasn't as grotesque as Flapjack and Flapjack had far more lowkey plots
>>
>>152966555
it was. next question
>>152966627
syndication hasn't been a viable thing in decades. tv stations don't just pay to get other people's shows, they license them from their parent company
>>
>>152966555
Their quest for candy island wasn't the main. Victoria sea port isn't an attractive theme for kids. The main characters didn't really have any other friends only themes. The colors were too drab.

too high brow for kids unironically, I enjoyed it more on a rewatch as an adult, didn't care for it much as a kid

Every single popular 2010s show can thank and trace their existence to Flapjack. The show did its job.
>>
>>152967640
Oh and Chowder. Chowder and Flapjack kicked started the CN 2010s renaissance.

It really wasn't. Trying to gross out the viewer was never what B&M was going for, it was rarely grotesque. Even spongebob after its golden age was far uglier and filled with more intentional gross out garbage. Flapjack was an ugly show with ugly character designs, so it failed at the bare minimum expected of a kids' cartoon before anything else like writing and voice acting could even be considered.

Wrong, faggot

>>152966555
Why can't it get popular?

>>152967625
as a retarded child i laughed because it was a funny little tune. as a retarded adult i laugh because of the pun.
you might be onto something. same reason i've enjoyed rewatching regular show and love close enough.

It was fairly popular.

I legit pissed myself the first time I saw this when it aired
>>
It was about as popular as Chowder but had a more specific niche and nautical theme that probably didn't click with the big city or corn field farm kids as much as anyone living close to a coastal region would.
Also the internet was really starting to take off with younger crowds so some market share was getting lost to like, newgrounds and world of warcraft instead of less connected options available in the early 2000s.

Ironically, the title character. Speaking as someone who was 10 in 2007, I was instantly turned off of this show when they kept advertising Flapjack as a character with all of the most annoying attributes of SpongeBob but without any of what made that show enjoyable. I actually really like the art style of this show and probably would’ve watched it if Flapjack wasn’t advertised as an annoying laughing idiot. There were just too many damn cartoons at the time with this type of character in them.
What’s funny is that I loved Chowder and you could argue the title character of that show was also annoying, but I never really found him to be.

>>152966555
It was kino, kino is never very popular

I mean more or less all the main showrunners of the biggest cartoons of the 2010s worked on Flapjack before doing their own shows. Pendleton Ward, JG Quintel, Alex Hirsch, Patrick McHale…

There is something off about it. I just watched the first two mini-episodes. Flapjack as a character feels like I want to punch him

Because Flapjack sounds like slang for vagina

came out during a bad era for the network and cartoons in general.
