>during Smiling Friends's production, Michael Cusack managed TWO other shows under his belt, each written in a more collaborative way than SF ever was
>yet somehow NOW he's "burnt out"
Killing the show was totally Zach's idea, and Michael simply went along with it to appease his insecure, perfectionist co-showrunner. You can't convince me otherwise

I think the show was never really meant to last that long, and they were eager to make something else.

Is it too much for you people to adsept that there was so much you can do with Smiling Friends before it got stale?

Yeah, I think it just wasn't meant to last for very long. I guess they decided to end the show before it went on for so long that it became an unrecognizable mess. Personally, I'd prefer to end the show on my own terms, too, rather than just leaving it to grow stale and rotten.

At most I think they could've squeezed in 1 more season, but even then it'd be risking it.

That's just it, though. They didn't "end it." They abruptly walked away after initially promising a fourth and fifth season. And even though this is a silly episodic comedy, Zach & Michael's wording in their announcement vid implies that there COULD have been a proper send-off finale instead of the two "stragglers" we're getting on April 12th. What especially bugs me is that they casually mention "maybe coming back for more but no promises!". That puts Smiling Friends in this awkward limbo state rather than being Actually Over.

I'd have been much more accepting of the decision to end Smiling Friends relatively early had it not come as a surprise twist like it did here and had it not involved backpedaling on the aforementioned two-season renewal. They didn't "feel it had run its course." They're just tired and refuse to take a breather and come up with a healthier production model.

When you take into account the fact that he’s a youtuber and not a hollywood professional, it’s less shocking. Self-made projects end when you get bored and decide to abandon them, and you wouldn’t feel like you owe your freelancers or viewers anything just because you threw around the idea of making more. But of course this is an April Fools joke so it is hardly relevant.

Dude. They don’t want to make the show under Warner Bros. It’s that simple.

So that's what put an end to the show...
>>
>>152970365
Then why sign to do it in the first place. CN has always been a subsidiary of WB.

Well, that is weird yeah. I thought it was more of a formal thing.

In this case, I guess it'd be better to just take some time off, do some other stuff, and the come back to it, finishing it properly.

Some have speculated that, as more and more parts of the episode were produced overseas when they were trying to give support to more local studios that Mike and Zach simply decided to walk out as WB wasn't walking back on that development.

They might have put ceasing to work on the show as an ultimatum and as the execs didn't cave, they stick to their gun.

>>152968486
its none of my business. i pirated every episode so they never made a cent off me. why would either side give a fuck about the other in this case? its a rare thing in this retarded country that things are simply allowed to end rather than be milked by MBAs for all eternity until people resent it, fucking get over it

dumb thread

Cause Michael just wants to make cartoons and Zach is an "artist"
