The disastrous reception to Caine's death can be attributed to two factors the Goose didn't properly plan for.Firstly, over the couple years it took to produce the story, the public perception of AI drastically changed, all the uncertainty and limitless potential was replaced with clarity as to how this stuff works and what it was being used for; not to say that everyone dislikes AI now, but plenty of people really hate it.The second factor is that Caine's psychology, while broadly recognizable to ours, is still demonstrably abberant in a way that can be thematically confusing. Bubble is not, thematically a person with agency, Bubble is not literally the Blue AI, the blue AI is thematically dead, because Caine killed his younger brother. Bubble is one of Caine's many creations. Bubble is art. Bubble is, within the story, a character. Imagine a scene where a human artist was alone and talking to their art, and then their work started talking back, told them they were a failure, told them no one likes them, told them repeatedly to die. If Caine was a human, most people would be able to interpret that as a schizoid delusion, a dissociative break, a drug trip, or perhaps an overly active imagination; it would be a more fantastical interpretation to assert that the ghost of the artist's dead brother has risen from the grave to avenge his murder. Bubble is the part of Caine that wanted to die. Caine wasn't murdered, he killed himself.When both factors interplay, we see people mistakingly celebrate a suicide as a triumphant struggle against the enemy.They failed Caine, just like they failed Kaufmo, Ribbit, Kinger's wife, and very possibly Jax.Perhaps it is unfair to put the moral burden of a god's mental health onto his playthings, but they were the only people who might have saved him from himself, and they couldn't.

Pomni at the end of episode 7 seemed to realize the rest were not paying attention to Caine's insecurity on being left behind. All that second guessing I think came from here actually paying attention and listening while the others kinda blew past anything he said about Caine Something I think on a bit. You also see her face when Caine changes being one that anticipated Caine going extra crazy. Zooble also did blame herself for Caine's meltdown in 8 and her behavior in 4 was in response to how Caine was in 3. Jac also said "POmni and Zooble" not just Pomni, basically confirming that Zooble got there before POmni but after the others.Just stuff I'm thinking on.
