I'm loving it. The original crisis and infinite crisis were some of the first DC books I read, and to me at least Superboy Prime always read as kind of tragic even when he was a murderous insane man-child. Honestly I kind of hope he doesn't just get 'redeemed' and become Superboy but with Deadpool humour. He should at least end up a bit anti-hero.

His powers and entitlement would make him a villain." That was DC's utilization of the concept for years. The concept was used to insult vocally dissatisfied readers.Death Metal then considered that this disgruntled fan would eventually become bored with the nature of the setting the same way many fans in real life have left comics after tiring of the many reboots and multiversal crises (this is where he starts in the mini-series). The story has a hopeful ending, though: Krypto reminds Prime of his lost youthful love for comics and he tries to make up for his mistakes. He gets a "happy ending" where he has a healthier attitude towards comics. It's an attempt to retire the character but left open-ended because all comics are. So Johns is using the concept to deliver a message about trying to distance yourself from comics if they've stopped being fun for you, and to try and remember the good times at least. At the very least, it's a less caustic use of the concept than what came before.
