AI has been running at an extreme deficit. It's cheap for now because companies are trying to get the public hooked on their services so when they jack the prices sky high, people won't have any choice but to pay them. But AI companies have been absolutely hemorrhaging money in the meantime. I think most pro-AI propaganda out there is made by shills desperately trying to influence the public followed by a minority of legitimate idiots who were influenced into buying into it.

Notice, the AI discourse has been oddly quiet since the announcement that Sora is dead. Almost as if all the dickheads championing how AI was going to change the industry suddenly don't have a reason to be saying that anymore.

Any business that fired their staff and replaced them with AI is helmed by a fucking retard. Again, AI is cheap FOR NOW, but in all likelihood it's going to be MUCH more expensive once they start actually charging enough to make a profit.

Honestly, I think most of the surprise is coming from anyone who wasn't paying attention when AIgen was first available. Those who were knew exactly how unviable this was, and that its collapse is inevitable.

I don't think it'll be the complete end of generative AI though. You'll see a few companies running their own local models for private use, but most likely trained on actually licensed libraries or their own work once legislation around it settles in.

As far as I can tell it's a Indian company that's trying to do guerilla marketing, and they think that this board is full of producers/animators due to its name cartoons and comics. We get a bunch of these AI threads when something bad happens to AI. this marketing company kicks in comes here posts a bunch, uses all the same talking points and then goes quiet for a while until again something bad happens to Ai. It's hard for them to understand due to using AI to translate English into whatever they speak over there so they get very confused and instead of going to /ic/ or /g/ they come here and that's just because of the name of the place has the word cartoon in it
