I had more fun with this than John's emotional spectrum space GL stuff
>>152982046Same, I get the grief with the later abstract stuff but I liked the initial angle of Hal not just being said to be "strong willed" but actually doing a tight wire between steadfast space sheriff and arrogant space cowboy.Morrison aiming his loose cannon at the cracks in DC was also a welcome light in the dim at the time.
>>152982046Shame Season 2 was a complete disaster
>>152982046both are equal good
>>152982316Morrison getting dicked around by the whole 5G thing is one thing but someone in the art department should have called Sharp and told him to stop whatever he was thinking and just send in his pencils
>>152982046I read 2-3 issues and enjoyed it. I just find it hard to justify reading comics these days though, so I guess I will never finish.
>>152982046I just started Green Lantern: Rebirth and I already don't like the writing.
>>152982046What is this even about?
>>152982046I liked the first twelve issues, not quite as much as Johns’ run but it was definitely worth reading. The black stars mini was good too. The annual and the second “season” were atrocious though. Ugly ass art and just completely narratively unsatisfying and messy.>b-b-but they shortened it and then extended it on them! Doesnt explain why sharpe’s art was awful by issue 3 season 2 or why the plots kept being added on and on rather than wrapping up and needing to be stretched thin on the back end.
>>152985073Season 1: Hal goes under cover as a black star to infiltrate their ranks and bring down a conspiracy. It seeds an anti-matter Hal for season 2It’s pretty solid. Not great but firmly enjoyable and good. Sharpe is mostly solid on it and it benefits from having one artist.Black stars mini: the villain is beaten and Morrison makes fun of Event fatigueAbout the same quality as season one with a different artist. A bit of a shame that season one narratively ties up here without sharpe.Season 2: is a mess through and through. Starts with new guardians making new lanterns and hal dealing with a new partner and rules. Then some random shit happens. Then some random shit happens. The art is anll over the place stylistically with no rhyme or reason because sharpe got lazy and arrogant. And then Hal randomly and quickly goes through the hyperwar concept that Morrison had been building up for decades only to shit all over himself rushing it into this piece of shit. Don’t waste your time reading it.
>>152984084Nobody asked
>>152982849You’d have thought he sustained a traumatic brain injury between season 1 and 2. The art after issue 2 in the second half was hideous. Outside of the silver age homage issue.
>>152982046>>152982424Yeah I'm fine with both it's outer space soIt's quite literally big enough for two.
>>152985184I don't care.
>>152984084Nobody cares
>>152986170Didn't ask.
>>152984084Shut your bitch ass up
>>152982046I enjoyed both before they inevitably wore out their welcome.I can say with impunity that Johns took a bit more time wearing out his welcome, at least.
>>152986975Eat my ass, bitch.
>>152986884Don’t care.
>>152986061He was only doing pencils and inks the first season but for some reason, could be the pandemic, could be he was just feeling himself and whatever program he was messing around with, he did his own colorsThat was a huge mistake
>>152984084Rebirth is the coolest shit ever dude.
>>152988692it is pretty amazing how in six issues they brought back hal, made guy a green lantern again, explained away the weakness to yellow and justified hal's heel turn in a relatively reasonable wayI think this was the peak of johns' gl
>>152984084early Johns GL is good because it's fairly earth basedAll the Sinestro Corps emotional spectrum stuff takes it too far out imo
