>This May, Marvel’s Stormbreakers celebrate 50 years of What If…? with a new set of variant covers that push the Marvel Universe in unexpected directions. The monthly cover program showcases eight imaginative takes on iconic heroes, each exploring a different twist on familiar powers, identities, and alliances. The last theme, revealed in January, was monsters.

>The lineup of “What If…?” scenarios includes:

Daredevil gaining Hulk-like powers from his accident
Iron Man’s Extremis becoming a symbiote
Punisher wielding Magik’s Eldritch Armor
Rogue as the Sorcerer Supreme
Wolverine controlling his adamantium like Colossus
The X-Men serving as heralds of Galactus
The Sinister Six reimagined as Spider-Man’s allies
These covers are brought to life by Marvel’s current Stormbreakers class, a group of standout artists recognized for their creativity and impact on the industry. The roster includes Alessandro Cappuccio, Netho Diaz, Simone Di Meo, Juan Frigeri, Gurihiru, Jonas Scharf, Geoff Shaw, and Luciano Vecchio, each delivering a unique visual spin on the Marvel mythos.

>The Stormbreakers program, which launched in 2020 as an evolution of Marvel’s Young Guns initiative, continues a long tradition of spotlighting rising talent. Over the years, the program has highlighted artists who went on to define major Marvel stories and events.

>This variant cover series is part of a wider anniversary celebration for What If…?, which also includes a slate of new one-shots arriving this summer. The lineup kicks off in June with What If…? Uncanny X-Men #1 by Gerry Duggan and Jan Bazaldua, followed by What If…? Thor #1 by Torunn Grønbekk and Sergio Dávila, each offering a fresh take on pivotal Marvel moments.

Oh man variant covers that have nothing to do with the quality of the interior comic???! That's is hella exciting, thank you for making me aware of this, Marvel intern! I'll be sure to add all these to my pull list!!

>It's the same put A + B properties in a blender angle that gave us Spider-Gwen, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Warp World and whatever else

>The lineup of “What If…?” scenarios includes:
>A bunch of random things that never came close to happening
What If? used to be built around alternate outcomes to actual Marvel stories, now it's just "What if character A became character B?" or utterly random stuff that never could have happened.

>Spider-Gwen
I hate multiversal refugees. Even the eXiles.
>>
This is the most creative ideas I've seen since what if Superman was evil. No wonder comic books are outselling manga.
>>
When are all the old men running these companies going to die so we have a very small chance of things at the very least being different. Some are obese too how are they still alive.

YES! I LOVE ARTISTS WHO PUT OUT SHITTY LOOKING MANWHA-TIER ART! MARVEL TAKE ALL MY MONEY!

didn't this one already happen in 616

>>152982717
>>152982972
Yeah I'd prefer the alternate choices and outcomes to canon over than this. At least it's just variant covers.

I know Tony can't be Superior Iron Man for too long but they should've given it to Arno. He was perfectly set up as the asshole Stark but they just got rid of him after bringing him back.
>>
>>152982710
These are awful.
>>
>>152982717
>Iron Man's extremis was a symbiote
Isn't that Superior Iron Man already, what are these imbeciles doing.
>>
>>152983545
Does Gurihiru still count as "rising" talent? Feels pretty well established now.
>>
>>152982710
Nobody gives a shit Marvel, fuck off

Fast looking like:
>What if... Marvel Editorial was Retarded?

>if

>>152984121
Stormbreakers rising talents have all been around for a while. It's just a half-assed marketing gimmick like everything Marvel does.

>HELLO TRUE BELIEVERS! GHOST OF STAN LEE HERE!
>Check out my new series, Why is....
>This brand new bi-weekly will knock your socks off! It's a behind the scenes look into our own merry bullpen. Why here comes one now!
>Hiya Stan and true believers. It's me Nick Lowe! Hey, are we gonna say it? I've always wanted to say it!
>Whoa slow down there, slick. It's almost as if you know what I'm gonna say...and I've been dead for years. Seems to me, we're gonna have to knock these knuckleheads down a peg or two. Well anyway, 'nuff said. I've got my work cut out for me.
Whoa guys, I was in a trance or something. Did it work? I'll read what I typed later.

>The Worlds of What If? used to be intriguing looks on worlds where history took a different turn.

NGL as much as the idea is retarded, Hulkdevil's design slaps
>>
>>152985193
Reminds me too much of Ultimate Goblin, Red Hulk Daredevil or What if...Daredevil's accident gave him Morbius' powers? would have been more fitting.
You know, because he's blind as a mutant vampire.
>>
>>152982721
>Look guiz! Frank is Berserk! Aren't we cool?!
>>152982731
Missed opportunity to make a more drastic change in design. But I guess these artists don't care that much.
>>
Well, I would certainly like to reed some of these, specially the one where the Sinister Six are Spider-Man's allies.
>>
>>152986144
TOO BAD! Enjoy these shitty variant covers instead, because they’re all you’re getting!
>>
>>152984121
Marvel has no rising talents because no one wants to work for them.
