I wonder, what's people's favourite Watchmen character? If we go by popularity, I think it's interesting how multiple answers are possible:
>Rorschach is the most grounded character and appeals to normalfags, as he's also the narrator of sorts
>the Comedian's smiley button is the symbol of the book itself
>Manhattan is the face of the franchise in a sense
>Ozymandias' plan is the bow at the end which cements the book's point
So a dual question; which is (Your) favourite and which do (You) think is the best representation of the book as a work of art and its themes?

Shaq or comedian
>which do (You) think is the best representation of the book as a work of art and its themes?

It's between Rorschach and Doctor Manhattan for me. Both are great.
Nite Owl II is the best representative for the comic, since he
>is the "victim" and only friend of Rorschach, and catches his paranoia and goes on the quest with him
>is romantically involved with Laurie, the second Silk Spectre
>is friends with one of the Golden Age vigilantes, the first Nite Owl
>had worked with The Comedian in the past, mulling over the reality of the American dream
>uses technology advanced by Doctor Manhattan for his heroics
>is swayed by Ozymandias
>is a fanboy and enthusiastic vigilante, performing the two most heroic acts in the comic, rescuing people from a burning building and rescuing Rorschach
>survives the story
>represents the impotence of mainstream American comics outside of costumes heroes

I cant just single out one character. Everyone represent a different stereotype.
I would say Rorschach is the best representation, since he is the main narrator, very complex and has the biggest tragedy story.
Most favourite? Manhattan or Ozy.

It’s either Manhattan or Ozymandias. Both are unique characters with a specific function within the book that give it its credence. It’s what is remembered from it in general terms thus making them the most important aspects.

I always wondered by Moloch was alive. I know he serves a narrative purpose but it seemed strange to me that Rorshach, who kills street thugs for less, is happy letting this former vice den crime lord retire peacefully.

I do wonder if in universe the gov tried their damndest to keep moloch alive in witness protection just to piss off rorschach

Probably Moloch wasnt active, redeemed by prison. So he went under Rorschachs radar. Maybe he had a bucket list with Molochs name on it. And every time he gets distracted so he let him live his life.
But thats just a comedic idea. It is possible that Rorschach didnt knew where Moloch lived. And only because he attended Comedians funeral brought him back into Rorschachs sight. I dont think he has the ressources or time to keep track of every criminal who dont falls back into crime. At least when there are rapists, burglers and murderer roaming the city. And a cape killer.

Why would they? Moloch was a Dr Manhattan villian. Not a Rorschach one.

Rorschach is a nice person deep down, beneath the trauma of having to deal with the scum of humanity

Veidt. I see the central theme as his struggle against the determinism represented by Dr. Manhattan.
