The economics of YouTube and animation are incompatible, it simply cannot support a paid crew outside of the most successful productions. Eddsworld's got ad revenue, patrons, and YouTooz out the wazoo, and it's still not enough.
It was okay, I really don't like the direction they're taking by slowly confirming that Tord from Legacy is a clone, as the fans say.
It's a bit weird to me that they continue to use the characters based on real people who don't want any involvement in the show anymore (Tord and Tom)

No one knows how Tom or Matt are compensated. The other Gould children contribute voices with George now voicing Edd and Vicky voicing Ell. Vicky also does comics occasionally. You can interpret that all as charitably or as uncharitably as you'd like. I tend to lean towards the former, Sue still has Edd's artwork as her Twitter banner. Just an emotional quagmire all around.
