Was I supposed to see myself in Peter Pan? Did literally anyone not think he was an annoying shit?
>>
>>152987079
You are both supposed to identify with Peter Pan when you're young because he's a perpetual child, but you're also supposed to realize that children are little shits and you should want to grow up (in the correct ways).
>>
Don't be a Hookcel
>>
>>152987079
He's literally the villain in the original
>>
You don't have to see yourself in any character in any story.
>>
He is of the fey folk, I'm not sure that any of us were supposed to relate. The kids if anything were extensions of the reader.
>>
You're supposed to be interested enough in what he's promising to go with him, see problems, and then your window is locked when he tries again years later.
>>
>>152987079
Peter Pan is unironically an evil vengeful demon born of an infant crib death.
>>
I cannot even fathom how genuinely autistic you'd have to be to judge films on whether a main character is 'supposed' to be your self-insert or not. Even tiny children I assume don't think like this. By the way, Wendy is the self-insert character.
>>
>>152987079
>Was I supposed to see myself in Peter Pan?
absolutely not. Not sure how you ever even considered that
>Did literally anyone not think he was an annoying shit?
literally the point of his character. "The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up."
>>152987101
I mean, kind of. You are in the role of Wendy there, though
>>152987214
To be pedantic, he's joined up with the fair folk, 'gone native' as it were, but he started as one of us. I forget if Tink stole him or if he just kinda followed her to Neverland or whatever, but either way he ran away. Granted he was a baby.
>>
>>152987885
Anon. He died. He didnt go to neverland his spirit just wandered.
After he remembered his home he went back only to find years had passed and a new baby was in his crib.
>>
>>152987079
You should read the book. He's heartless. Tinkerbell dies and he doesn't even notice it.

no I'm fairly sure you were supposed to identify more with one of these
>>
Peter Pan is Disney's first movie for girls.

No, you are not supposed to see yourself in Peter Pan, you are supposed to be a little girl who self inserts into Wendy and think that magical pretty boy who likes you makes you feel funny.

Peter Pan is a bore of a movie for boys.
>>
>>152988290
>Disney's first movie for girls
I'm pretty sure Snow White, Bambi and Cinderella are all more popular with girls than Peter Pan
>>
>>152987079
He was meant to read as immature, but not necessarily "annoying."
>>
>>152988290
Pretty sure my sister was a little traumatised when the mermaids tried to drown Wendy. She has Thalassophobia now. She literally has to close her eyes and ears when we cross a bridge.
>>
>>152988128
doesn't Tinkerbell also feed one of the kids to the crocodile for fun
>>
>>152987197
Came to say that. I read in the original he's a children kidnapper, and Hook is actually the good guy trying to rescue the children. Now, I don't remember if he's a pirate or that's just a cover up to finance his work.

In any case, this scene of his is so good.

How do you know she's not thinking about Monstro like everybody else?
>>
Captain Hook is a GOATed villain. It feels like the first Disney villain where they actively said "okay this guy is going to be way funnier than the leads". And it worked.
>>
I am only involved in that timeline to keep tinkerbelle from being corrupted by that lil demon peter. its all about tinkerbelle and if I could remove her from that timeline I would best I got are those alt ones. mecha war tink is 10/10 babe tier
>>
>>152988679
She's not afraid of fish?

You aren't wrong, but they weren't specifically made for a female audience.
>>
>>152987885
>he's joined up with the fair folk, 'gone native' as it were, but he started as one of us.
The most terrifying villain backstory can be summed up as, "He was human...once."
>>
>>152987079
Wendy and her brothers are supposed to be the main protagonists, not Peter.
>>
>>152987885
Peter is either dead, or was never human to begin with. He’s the only one who never ages in Neverland, while everyone else does. The Lost Boys grow up, and he kills them when they do. Even Tinkerbell died of old age because they have short lifespans, and when Wendy asks what happened to her, Peter doesn’t even remember her because he just gets a new one whenever the last one dies.
>>
>>152988128
Kids are cruel, Anon. And I’m very in touch with my inner child.
>>
>>152987079
To a point. He's basically an allegory to why you need to crow up. Also this is why there can't be any Lost Girls because they exist to showcase why boys are little shits without women in their life.
>>
>>152987101
>that children are little shits
sorry but that's not true. only infants are little shits
>and you should want to grow up
that's when people because little shits, it's a fucking phase. once you are an adult, you realize that you are just like your kid self than to your teenager rebel self
>but
if you didn't learn reason when you are a kid, you and parents, that whole bloodline, is retarded and you deserve to be culled
those that treat kids as if kids were retards are just projecting. seeing the disconnect among anglos, i'm not surprised at all
fucking manchildren. they're the ones whireshipping disney; "disney adults"
>supposed to identify with Peter Pan
only disney adults will tell you that in your face so that speaks a lot of you
>>
>>152988164
lmao
>>
>good form

What did they mean by this?
>>
>>152990095
>only infants are little shits
t. never been around children.

There's a reason Catholics said the little monsters are not responsible for anything they do until age 6.
>>
>>152987079
Seeing yourself in a character isn't always supposed to be a good thing. You're supposed to see yourself as Pinocchio too and he's an absolute fuck up.
>>
>>152988128
More like Peter always forgets everything and has a really, REALLY short attention span bordering on the lack of object permanence. The book kind of spells it out multiple times:
>No one ever gets over the first unfairness; no one except Peter. He often met it, but he always forgot it. I suppose that was the real difference between him and all the rest. So when he met it now it was like the first time; and he could just stare, helpless.
It's part of the reason why he's unable to grow up; kids make mistakes and learn from them, but Peter simply can't. Tink is just one of many.
>>152988494
>Hook is actually the good guy trying to rescue the children.
Not true
based show regardless

>He's literally the villain in the original
Where does this even come from? I read the original 1907 book and this is complete horseshit, he's unambiguously made to be seen as a heroic figure. There's only two moments in the entire book that paints him in a remotely questionable light:
>Peter was the one who cut off Hooks' hand that the crocodile ate
>Peter gets so pissed at one of the Lost Boys he threatened to kill him because he thought said Lost Boy had murdered Wendy
And even then, the former was framed as self-defense, and the latter he immediately snapped out of it once it was confirmed she was alive. Outside that though, the Disney version is shockingly accurate, down to the weirdly lighthearted and shmaltzy tone.

>>152988128
What book did you read? Because that's not what happens at all. Tink dies drinking poison Hook planted, and Peter is so devastated he literally breaks the fourth wall and asks the readers to believe in her to bring her back to life.

Peter is the antithesis of heartless, he's emotional to a fault.
>>
>>152991000
The original J.M. Barrie Peter Pan. She dies off screen, and Peter doesn’t even remember her when Wendy asks about her.
>>
>>152987079
No, Wendy is the main character, dumbass.
>>
>>152991072
Are you referring to the 1911 version? Because that's not the original. "The Peter Pan and Wendy Picture Book" predates it by a solid four years, which was a direct adaptation of the original play.
>>
>>152991000
Is just Sccummy Irony Poison Millennial Rewrite of History, it's Revisionism, they are full of shit, but like all things on the internet, the stupids of the world will believe ANY internet Lie you constantly say and payola everytime to the point the Real truth, is now the lie, pretty fucked, ain't it?

>>
>>152988494
Best version of Peter Pan right there, and it's all thanks to Hook.
