I think I'm just tired of demons being introduced only to rugpull and water down what a demon actually is for ideological reasons. I mean it became decent once mark showed up but it's still the worst episode of the show and the only thing that comes close is whenever Amber's melodrama peaked.
Like I get the episode has a purpose, it's not like anime filler they do a focused character study on Mark and his recent melancholy and moral conflicts. It makes the costume change at the end feel earned. And the pit scene at least was kino. But other than that the episode just had nothing. Damien's sister and volcanica are complete jobbers for the time being and satan is just okay comic relief and the hell world-building is just mildly interesting but so much fucking time is spent on those things
It's weird because literally 2 episodes earlier but they did the exact same thing but better. Character study on omniman and his complicated feelings towards Viltrum. Makes his decision to return to earth at the end feel impactful. Alan is there too and he makes a more interesting companion than Damien. Alan's girlfriend plays a functional role and star trek guy shows up for a line or two of comedic relief than it gets off the screen. And they travel to different planets so it's an interesting variety of world-building
