I really enjoyed the Sandman as a teenager. When I looked at Gaimans online presence I began to raise an eyebrow. His feminism and woke tweets seemed incredibly shallow for a man of his intelligence - came across very performative like he was trying to create a facade very deliberately. Came across very harmless Louis Theroux style in interviews. Seems dishonest.Like a man flexing intellect by using long and unnecessarily complex language when making very basic and obvious points; it comes across as a pathetic affectation to hide insecurity about intelligence. Like one has something to prove. A lot of people are like that with morality and politics. They want to show the world they are nice and kind and moral and constantly feel the need to signal that in the shallowest way.
