Omnibi are just too big. If they were all the size of the Animal Man by Morrison one they would be great. Bigger than that and they are just a chore to read unless the spine is done really well.

There's just way too many stories where you have to read multiple books to get the full story and I imagine that becomes a giant pain in the ass when trying to figure out what to collect and how. Like collecting '90s Superman in Finest means you can't really just do an Action Comics or Adventures of Superman or whatever collection because the Triangle Era lasted into the 2000s. Spider-Man, X-Men and etc. these all start having storyline that run through every book so that means you have to start double and triple dipping on collecting them.
