DC put all their effort into making people see Vic as a Leaguer, but everybody still associates him with the Titans
>>153014910Captain Carol. Cyborg could at least hide behind the team.
>>153014910Perlmutter's Inhumans push was a bigger failure. But Cyborg's push as a Leaguer didn't work out for a few reasons. The first one (and this applies to all of New 52 and comicbook reboots in general) is that DC was actively trying to pretend Wolfman/Perez's Titans didn't exist, that the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon didn't exist and that Cyborg has always only been a JL member. This is an inherently doomed endeavor because, no matter how hard DC pretends this has always been the case, we all know Cyborg is mainly associated with the Teen Titans, that his best friend is Beast Boy and Martian Manhunter is a JL founding member. You cannot erase people's memories or your own older books. The other reason why it failed is because JL books accidentally ended up pushing Cyborg too much as their own equivalent of Marvel's The Thing. A tortured, mutilated, angsty man who nonetheless chooses to be a hero despite his appearance. This was a mistake for somebody DC wanted to turn into their premier black hero. Hence all the controversy over if he had a penis or not, or all the disputes with Ray Fisher over his portrayal in the JL movie. In the Titans he didn't have this problem because Beast Boy (animalistic orphan green boy), Starfire (an alien sexual slave) or Raven (half-demon abused girl) are all just miserable as Vic in different ways.

>>153015021Ironically if they had just "graduated" Cyborg from the Titans (which I think is a really dumb idea that inherently goes against the concept of the Titans, but it's potentially workable) the same way they did with Wally, I don't think there would have been anywhere near as much resistance to him being on the League. But him taking Martian Manhunter's spot and erasing his Titans roots was a step too far for most fans.
>>153014910No, as it has no bearing on anything. It was a dumb idea 15 yrs ago and not much else. You keeping it alive is the failed push.
Even kids associated him with the Teen Titans when New 52 droppedTeen Titans 2003 had reruns and Teen Titans Go naturally had Cyborg on their rosterThere are more fans of Justice League International today than there are with New 52 Justice League as a teamNowadays I've seen the solution of "Give the Justice League a black founder" to be Mr. Terrific and even then the consensus nowadays is that the seven founders (J'onn OR Cyborg) aren't necessarily the ideal Justice League roster period
>>153015219>New 52 Justice League as a teamIt was barely a team.
