What did you think of the Vok in Beast Wars? Did you like them or hate them? If you liked them are you upset the writers were forced by the execs to drops their entire story?
>>153017548Can't really say much since they were dropped before developing them further, but I do find the concept intriguing. I really enjoy when TF media delves into other alien races and planets since it broadens the scope of the series, and more audiovisual media should try it. Most of the time, the only other race depicted are the Quintessons, and they're heavily tied to the Transformers' history already.A fun concept would be to show civilizations outside of the Cybertronian's sphere, and how they see the latter. Being at war for millenia wouldn't give your race the best PR to the rest of the universe.
>>153017548I wish they had made a Dinobot/Terrorsaur fuzor
>>153017696Random note. I forgot how they kill off Terrorsaur in a blink and you miss it moment. He falls in lava in 2 seconds and they never bring him up again. Very bizarre.
>>153017548>If you liked them are you upset the writers were forced by the execs to drops their entire story? They were? Why?
>>153017773They were told to focus on Max vs Preds only. That's why the Tigerhawk fuze character comes out of left field for 2 episodes, dies and you never hear from Vok again. They had to just end the plotline.
I found it strange how in the end they helped stop Megatron from destroying the timeline even though they nearly did it themselves when they tried to blow up the Earth.>but they didn't there'd be a time storm until Megatron tried to kill PrimeThey scanned Primal's mind, they had to have known he was from the future. They were intriguing at first, but I can't say I liked them very much in the end. Their goals and motivations were too vague and poorly conceived..
>>153017548I like it when there are other aliens in Transformers, especially ones that make them look smaller and less significant despite having existed for millions of years fucking shit up wherever they go from all the fighting they do.
>>153017773Higher ups told them to stop with the Vok ASAP. So they ended them in mini arc.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG_fKPTv9XA
>>153017811>>153017844Man thats lame, vox were cool
The Vok were stupid floating heads that could never be made into toys. What the fuck were the writers thinking? It was obvious they'd be told to shelve them.
>>153017822Season 3 in general was a bit unpolished, writing-wise.>tarantulas is just working with preds again, with no explanation>tarantulas wanting to blow up the ark, despite hating megatron's ark plan earlier>the anomaly that sends depth charge back in time is just some random anomaly that conveniently drops him off with the rest of the cast>transmetal driver appears out of no where, does magic plot things for no reason>most of the TM2 designs barely get any time to shine, some not even appearing until late season>the vok inconsistency you mentioned>the whole dinobot's spark thing, due to the shelved episode>tigerhawk's short existence>the very necessary but deleted scene of g1 megatron's spark being returned>TM2 cheetor is just straight-up flying at one point>depth charge using the wrong transformation phrases constantlywe know at least some of these are due to hasbro fucking around with them
>>153017548Big head
>>153017842>>153018495I was a lot more interested in Tarantulas and the Trepidacus Council stuffHaving a third transformer species around, one that wasn't descended from Autobot or Decepticon and willing to completely fuck up history had some real potential
>>153017685>A fun concept would be to show civilizations outside of the Cybertronian's sphere, and how they see the latter. Being at war for millenia wouldn't give your race the best PR to the rest of the universe.I think there was a one-shot Armada comic about that.

>>153017931Aliens OTHER than transformers is such a cool idea.
>>153020834Yes but you have to make them marketable for a toy commercial.
>>153017742That's because Mainframe was limited by how much Hasbro wanted to spend on the show, so if they wanted new characters it'd eat up the budget. They couldn't have too many characters on screen in a given moment or it would eat up their ability to render in a timely manner, IIRC, as well, so while they could keep them around, it'd be hard to have a whole team on screen. Terrorsaur was killed off in such a way that if Hasbro chose to pay for a Transmetal upgrade they could bring him back, and there was one planned(all the mold-original show characters, barring Scorponok and Dinobot, had a Transmetal design made. Those two did get a Mcdonalds toy, Inferno had his Transmetal form renamed Scavenger because his old toy didn't sell enough. Tigatron and Blackarachnia were redecoes and could've been made from Transmetal Cheetor and Tarantulas if they wanted) So the design was there, they just chose not to pay for it since BW budget was already pretty high for Hasbro at the time.
>>153017931I don't think the writers had an idea of how they were going to pull off the Vok with the shows budget. I know Forward was thinking they'd be an alliance of evolved Transformers, the swarm from G2, humans, and a lizard species. The skull look was probably made when they were aware Hasbro had no interest in funding anything with the aliens and thus quickly cooked up for that one episode. Ironically, given the nature of TF obsession with any little piece of media from decades ago, that skull look cooked up by some animator in an afternoon is now super crucial to other TF lore. That said, the floating head look in one color is something I could see them pulling off in the show toyline if they chose to. The Animorphs toys had these Yeerk toys made of rubberized plastic that were just extras meant to be roleplay toys or something. I imagine if they wanted, they could make "Vok masks" to posses your TFs by slipping on their heads. The Animorphs line actually cut into the BW line in 1999, so they could've implemented this if they chose.
