Finally started reading it. It's so-so. The Corps stuff so far is more enjoyable than the Hal solo stuff.
Gleason is the MVP.

Been a while since I read it, there is the tragic backstory, random silver age reference reinterpreted in a dark edgy way in classic Johns's fashion

Okay...

I agree. I'll randomly think about or read more random stories from Corps than the main book usually
>>
>>153025013
yeah I agree, there are things to like about the run (particularly corps related) but there is plenty to dislike as well
I would prefer to reread the 90s run

Gleason is so good

Also my favorite story in the whole thing is The Corpse, a concept that they did NOTHING with ever again, except bringing back the Durlan Corpse member in that post-Johns Durlan war storyline, which sucked.

It's fine.

It's a decent run, but it's not the second coming. I enjoy it partly for being pretty solid as a run, but also that era of DC was just kino in general so the vibes are good.

I enjoyed the run.
But ould it have still worked without Hal's ressurection?
>>
>>153026761
Probably not.

Fuck you.

I like Johns' Secret Origins more than GLC Corps, but I can see why Corps is liked better, more consistent

It was the blueprint for success when everyone else was chucking lore and continuity into the bin, trying to be Marvel when Marvel wasn't good in hindsight.

I'm not really hating, it's good for what it is. I think it's biggest "flaw" is that it can be kind of mindless/shallow feeling at times. Basically it's a summer blockbuster. Which has its place.

good for you

I also picked up this exact omni recently after having previously only read the Rebirth and Sinestro Corps War trades.

I liked the issue drawn by Darwyn Cooke a lot and, as you said, the GLC Corps stuff (recharge mostly but the issue with Guy and Kyle finding the Lost Lanterns and spider-guild too) was great.
I had previously read Sinestro Corps War and then the Rage of Red Lanterns, Agent Orange and Blackest Night TPBs so I don't think I need any of the later omnis but it was nice catching up on the little stories I had missed previously.

Cooke is the best artist on this run so far, but he only drew one issue. Gleason is the next best, and he was on quite a bit. I'm not a fan of Van Sciver, Reis, Bianchi (though there things they are good at), or Pacheco.

It's breddy gud
