It's difficult for any sorcerer who's not named Strange or Maximoff to get some limelight in Marvel's sprawling canon. Let's have a thread to appreciate all the occultists who don't get their level of attention.

Claire Voyant here is pretty cool. She's the original Black Widow and a henchwoman of Satan.
>>
>henchman of Satan
Which one?
>>
There was a Savage Avengers issue where Elektra reluctantly used necromancy or something and it reiterated that the Hand taught her a little more than just martial arts.

A shy one who never shows his face. In effect Claire just has to leave sometimes to collect souls on behalf of her boss.

Where can I read more about her? I wish Kushala got more to do.
>>
>>153025750
She was in The Twelve. Although she was mostly off on the sidelines while Phantom Reporter did all the stuff.

Three for one. Back in '04 there was a fever dream of miniseries called Witches where Doctor Strange hatched a scheme to protect the the Tome of Zhered-Na, an ancient tome of Atlantean magic. His scheme was to gather three women in his house and then skip town for a week while he waited for them to solve his problem for him.

The witches of Witches are Satana Hellstrom, who everyone loves. Topaz, who was Doctor Strange's student and cocksleeve at the time. And Jennifer Kale, cousin of Johnny Blaze and Daniel Ketch, heir of Zhered-Na, disciple of Dakimh the Enchanter, longtime friend of Man-Thing, and occasional Floridian swamp witch. I like her a lot.

Anyway, at the end of the miniseries the girls decided to keep the book for themselves and away from those who might misuse it, Doctor Strange included. So they moved into a house together. I don't have much to say about that except that Topaz ran a potion store and one of her clients drugged her with a love potion. Satana and Jennifer sort her out quickly before it goes bad. But Topaz then proves to be completely deranged because she meets the client again and thinks to herself that she's flattered he'd try to use magical date rape drugs on her instead of her roommates. That's basically all I remember of that.

Anyway, I'd love to see more of Jennifer Kale.

I do not know.
>>
>Doctor Druid
>Doctor Strange
>Brother Voodoo
>Wiccan
>The Ancient One if you want to stretch it
>Wong, technically, if you want to count MCU synergy (which I do not)

Are these the only heroic male magic users out there? I’m struggling to come up with any more. All of my other answers are villains.

Adam Warlock
Son of Satan
Shaman from Alpha Flight
Rintrah was Strange's old student
Krugarr is the Sorcerer Supreme of the 31st century
>>
>>153028216
You could include Merlin and Roma in the stretching it category.
Feron

>>153029071
>Shaman from Alpha Flight
Not male but Talismen too.
But, that brings up Talisman the aboriginal hero.
>>
>>153029071
Wait, Adam Warlock is an actual Warlock? I thought he just did Infinity Gem shit and only had a magical-themed name (like The Wizard).

Also Damion and Rintrah came to mind right as I was posting, but last I heard Damion was evil again for some reason and Rintrah only had about 4 years to live in the first place. ;-;

have they used any of the twelve guys after their comic?
>>
>>153026356
Wasn't this created to try and piggyback off the popularity of Charmed? A trio of bitches who shouldn't be in the roles of heroes because they're so moronic and self-absorbed.
>>
>>153029536
Back during the first DnA GotG book he was using "Quantum Magic"

I don't know if he still has it but he managed to use it to kill that Imperial Guardsman Magique

Claire Voyant got like five pages in Marvels some years back to bully Red Skull, but that's basically it.

Doctor Druid sucks but that seems like the writer is being petty

It's the writer being funny.

Victoria Montesi, daughter of Chthon, is criminally underutilized. She's not the most accomplished witch by any stretch, but her whole deal should warrant her playing a much more active role in the comics than she's had since the nineties. I don't know how Orlando has written dozens of issues about Wanda being the Living Darkhold and having Chthon sealed inside her, and not even throw one cameo appearance to Montesi. It's fucked up. She and the Midnight Sons barely even got to appear during Blood Hunt.

>>153026356
It'd also have been decent to give Jennifer Kale or Dakimh a nod during Blood Hunt. Aside from being a Darkhold sorcerer, Varnae was an ancient Atlantean. Pre-Cataclysm Atlantean magic shit is their thing. But no, Wanda, Stephen and Doom have to be the only magicians in the world during any crisis.
>>
Is this a strictly Marvel thread or can I talk about DC also? Because I still don't really understand how magic works in DC. It seems to me that if you're born a "homo magi" you have absolute free reign to manipulate reality at your choosing with zero limitations.
>>
>>153031395
Isn’t Victoria Montesi dead right now?
>>

And Thoth Amon
And Thulsa Doom
And umpteen thousand other sorcerers in Marvel's hyborian age Conan canon.

For general bad guys we can also include:
Belasco (and of course Magik)
Cagliostro
Modred (and his mom Morgana Le Fae)
Not exactly lesser-known but people forget Dr, Doom is an accomplished sorcerer.
>>
>>153032643
>and his mom Morgana Le Fae
scratch that. This is a different guy than Mordred, though he does have a connection to aurthurian legend.
>>
Vox, from Doom 2099
Urthona
>>
>>153032643
If I had a nickel for every time a guy named Doom became accomplished in the mystic arts, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
>>
>>153032375
Nope.
