What did you love most about the show?
>>153026273I like that no one really wins in the end. There's episodes where Zim loses and there's episodes where Dib loses or both lose like the water balloon episode where Zim gets his revenge on Dib but also dies in the end.I like how unforgiving this show is yet still maintains it's foundation as a comedy.
>>153026273Great soundtrack.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUiFZAUFy5shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn9xg0k5BAYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw5lQlAq0EQ
I like how spergy the humor is.
This damn show made me what i'm now today.fuck Zim.
>>153026273>FOP and IZ are a day apart in birthdays. Interesting, are there any other nicktoons that will celebrate their 25th this year or just these two?
>>153026273I don't have much to say about it. It was perfect. I even love that it was killed in it's prime.
>>153026657No, they premiered the very same day.
>>153026709>I even love that it was killed in it's prime. It unironically helped it to became a cult classic.
Dark Harvest is overrated
>>153026273https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGc5dYJbpFQIntro song is awesome.
>>153026860It's a good episode, but not even close to the best IZ has to offer.
>>153026307It was nice how there weren’t any “punching bag” characters, they’re all just determined to get what they want regardless of the consequences or if what they’re doing is considered moral. If zim of dib lost or got hurt, it was usually their own fault for putting themselves in that situation, it never felt like a character was made for “torture porn”. You could argue that sometimes dib got too harsh a punishment (gaz taster of pork) but it was never that bad or undeserved.
>>153026965My grandmother laughed when she saw the end of the intro where Zim is laughing.Watching weird littler creatures do stuff like laugh used to tickle her funny bone. Like Emperor Pilaf and Babidi.
>>153026860True, but it’s still great >you think you can fool a trained medical professional?>YesAlso, whatever happened to that Disney show Vasquez was working on
I like the edgy worldbuilding. It just speaks to me
>>153027078>whatever happened to that Disney show Vasquez was working oncanned, and perhaps cancelled.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KnBq1H6H5w
>>153026709It had everything
>>153026860That episode scared me as a kid
I like how all the characters only have three letters in their names. Why doesn’t /co/ like Florpus? I thought it did the best at retaining the original’s mean spirit, as opposed to the Rocko and Hey Arnold movies.
>>153026273It was a dark and funny show. Too bad it didn't lived long.
>>153027385> Why doesn’t /co/ like FlorpusMost of us do
>>153026377For me, it's the time Zim and Dib were shouting across an empty road at each other and going "WHAT?" over and over. I like how the absurd humor of it was completely unintentional, because there was supposed to be loud traffic on the road, but the Korean animators forgot to draw the cars.
Zim >>>> DibNo matter how hard Jhonen wants me to like the boring human, at least the rest of the characters and background ones are funny. I also wanted more other-planet focused episodes.
>>153028382I never at any point rooted for Dib, even as a kid I recognized Zim as the antihero and his world was full of gross shitheads. Straight up humanity in IZ actually should probably be exterminated for the good of the galactic IQ average. That and, well, Zim and Gir are just much more interesting and entertaining to watch.
>>153028382irken hands wrote this
>>153027385>Why doesn’t /co/ like Florpus?i just watched it, and had a blast. People are just too blinded by faggotr- i mean, nostalgia.
Very strange to think about this show being that old. I had thought about Foamy the Squirrel the other day and went back to look at some of the old videos, was pleasantly surprised illwillpress is still churning stuff out.
>>153027729meant to say don't fuck
Good thread boys
>>153028539>Foamy the Squirrelgonna be honest, i never liked it, it was like "we have Invader Zim at home."
>>153027078This is kinda hard to articulate, but some of my favorite parts where those rare moments Zim seemed to actually sync in with Earth concepts and actually be able to follow through in an exchange, rather than just sperg out because he doesn't understand human culture. Like that one scene in Dark Harvest where Dib is grilling him on which organs he has and Zim is perfectly on top of it, when other times he's completely ignorant of biology. Not really sure how to word it, but it's like most of the time there's some disconnect in Zim's evil because he's completely detached from those he torments, but when he's actually in the same wavelength as the humans his assholery shines all the brighter.
>>153028382Dib is a good character, but a bad main character imo.Like when he's the side character or deuteragonist in an episode and playing the slightly unhinged straight man to the world's and Zim's insanity he's fantastic, but when he's the lead and the plot is about him doing something not pretaining to the aftermentioned things he's just kind of flounders as a character.
>>153028685Dib's role just works 'cause Zim is the perfect counterpart. And they both get punished when they deserve it. They work really good together.
>>153028539>Joe Cartoon still going tooWhat a world
>>153026273I think enter the florpus gave a good 'endpoint' even without a third season and it using the comic characterization.
>>153026273Some of my favorite moments Professor Membrane talking to Dib and Gaz>Don't forget to feed the puppy"Oh yeah, we had a dog didn't we?"Both Dib and Gaz start looking around for the dogZim holding an explosion in slow motion walking through the houseGir "Watch out for the monkey" Zim "okay" Gir "watch out for the other monkey"And pic related
>>153026273I don't love the fact that it was proto-calarts.
>>153028382Dib's conspiracizing gets funny and sometimes it is like he seems to believe in a lot of random bizarre shit which is why I can kinda get why people are generally dismissive of him. But really it is kinda clear that it's a world where the people of earth are so unable to notice stuff an alien could run around ass naked and punch one of them in the groin and they'd think it was an illusion still.
>>153028804>He called my dad a yeti. He's not a yeti! Sob sob*Sometimes Dib can be an ass holeDon't forget the Gaz episode was because he had to watch his tv show which made Gaz late and the game sold out.
Zim is cuter than he has any right to be.
>>153026273I love it's use of 3D animation by having most of the ships be 3D and cell shaded
>>153026618The tallest and how they fucking destroyed the whole Irken Imperial project because Zim annoyed them so much they refused to change course just so they could destroy earth and kill Zim only to get Lucy football'd into the Florpus is comedy gold.
>>153028906Zim accidentally saved the galaxy from extermination, perfect antihero.
for me it's professor Membrane
>>153027385It brought the most horrible wave of new fans on the socials
sexo
>>153028852i like how he kicks his little feet in joy when the nurse examines and compliments his healthy and normal human organs
>>153026273The spanish dub. Can't eatch the series if it's not that, kind of like with Drawn Together, except it doesn't become unwatchable without it, just less fun
>>153029261The LatAm dub is really good, one of the best, it helped to make the show popular down here. But i've been watching the original English version and yeah, one reason the LatAm dub is so good is 'cause the original was also great. Unlike Drawn Together in which the LatAm dub is basically a completely different show.
cheers
>>153027385It was about as good as it could be, but it's a harsh reminder that 20 years changes a man.
The one reason I wish the show went on for longer is that if he had the time to respond to them, he probably would have had one hell of a "fuck you fans" episode.
>>153028685Yeah, and part of this is one of many things I don't like about Florpus, they heavily sidelined Zim here.>>153028409Based Zimchad follower. He's really an antihero once you know how many times he got rid of other menaces for earth to rule it himself.
IT HAS A BRAIN
>>153030008The Tak episode was technically that.
Reminder that all the scripts including drafts, outlines and revision notes can be found online.https://archive.org/details/zim-script-archive-etc
Do Irkens deserve rape?
>>153031547i read your comment as "Do Irkens reverse rape?" and i got interested
>>153029003Agreed, he's the coolest>>153028769It was much better than that
>>153026860Is it? I only see it mentioned as being the peak of "how did they get away with this?" in terms of Zim episodes, not a quality peak. Even then I'd argue Bad Bad Rubber Piggy has it beat, you literally see Dib die from having his organs replaced AND it's a better episode overall.
>>153028581kek this is great
>If only I had an arm or a leg or maybe... yes! Someone to help me get there. Would you please help me?... Hello?... Hello?
>>153028612Oh yeah scenes like those are great>Victory for earth!>you had the lens cap on or really anytime he decides to act normally, like at the end of his conversation with tak>but you didn't tell me you're plan>>153028685yeh, dib focused eps are usually just ok, though some are really nice (the ship copy episode for example). I also didn't mind the dib focus in florpus
>>153029197the little squishy sound effect added is the cherry on top, great contrast to how gross zim looks there
>>153031954Weird how there was a leaked silent scene with Zim falling through flames and his spider legs carrying his unconscious body to safety, but it never got put on the DVD like with "the unseen seconds" of the christmas special. I guess Nick was still too concered about the fire stuff.
>That episode where Dib thwarts the Irken invasion decades in the future only to wake up and realize it was just Zim fucking with his perception of time over some petty bullshitThat episode felt like a genuine short movie and the animation was fucking crazy good, you can really see why this show was so expensive to produce when you watch that one
Do you think Dib deserved the harsh punishment he got in Taster of Pork?
>>153032072no one deserves that pizza place
>>153026273Zim's underground lair was sick. They could have stuck with the joke that the Irken never provided Zim with the tools for the job since he wasn't considered a real invader and his base could have reflected that. Instead, Zim is a crazy competent engineer and scientist that creates his own fortress. It adds just enough edge to him before he blows it by using his inventions in the dumbest ways possible.
>>153026273The fact that the "world ending alien threat" is just a useless pariah and the setting being so retarded and acknowledging it tickles my brain
You gonna make biscuits? You gonna make biscuits? Yooooouuu gonnnaa make biscuits? Yooooooooooou gonnnnnnnnnaaaaa makeeeeeeee biscuiiiiiiiittttttts?
>>153026273The frantic pace of the scenes and just the overall tone of 2000's nihilism and dread repackaged just happy and funny enough for general comsuption. Also, the designs and overall artstyle was so sick and used CGI really well.
>>153027385It was completely fine for what it was, but as anon here said >>153029987, Mr. Vasquez just isn't the same edgy 20-something guy, he mellowed out and so did his writing and characters.
>>153031547Do they even have reproductive orifices? Do they even poop?
>>153033958like that's gonna stop any of us...
>>153026344That opening is legendary
>>153031954I love these clips
Is anyone going to talk about how The Tallest did a campaign of galactic extermination before dooming themselves and the whole Irken Empire's armada to the florpus?
>>153036035Zim's constant fuck ups fucking over this extremely fucking evil empire he is a fanatic follower of to the point he unintentionally has saved more lives than anyone can ever imagine. He's like an inverse Star.
>>153034757They have a mouth, that is all that is needed.
>>153036035The tallest in florpus being so irredeemably evil was surprising as they seemed more laid back in the series itself, they only paved over entire planets to make parking lots and snack factories.
the million pizza plan was good actually
>>153032965I love it’s about the self importance of idiots running next to typical self important cartoons that play it straight. Hilarious
I think Zim liberating the galaxy from the irken empire by accident due to wanting to fanatically please the tallest (something which the irkens are indoctrinated to do) being the final punchline of this series fits way too well.
>Why steer around earth when we can just blow it up?>BLOW IT UP!!!
>>153036425The Tallest just had to listen to the comms officer lelhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mFx9WnMz7M
>Initiating comms with the Irkens in a space game and they call your faction name stupid
>>153036734Now you're getting me thinking there could have been a star-control type game featured in the Invader Zim universe, with the Irken taking the place of the Ur-Quan. Wonder how they might fare in the Star Control universe.
>>153036808I think the world destroying capability is exclusive to The Massive so it probably would be matched.
Any Zagr bros?
>>153026273>What did you love most about the show?the off-model gaz porn
>>153036966Ehhh, I dunno, that's not too bad, they could put up a decent fight against the Sa-Matra with that kind of firepower I think, but not win on their own. Precursor tech probably trumps but most smaller ships are doable given their fleet is big enough, which it seems like. (Granted, it was probably easier to depict that in animation than an early 90s PC game) You might have voot runners as a cheap, disposable speed ship, and viral tanks as the bigger unit. They might work kind of like the scryve from origins in that way. I don't think they could top the urquan collectively themselves, they would probably need to "liberate and ally" (similarly enslave) nearby species to build their own heirarchy to take the hits. I say Spathi and Humans go first.
>>153037177I'm more fixated on what the dialogue options would be even if it probably would just be them insulting you so not too different from the VUX.
>>153037430Oh man, an Irken-Vux argument could go on for ages. I wouldn't doubt it, but the Irken would probably be a little more pleasant to work with. Maybe if you bring them a planet-sized supply of corn chips or something they could invade a homeworld of your choosing in exchange. >Who're you calling green? You don't even have two eyes!
>>153036035I wonder what's the aftermath for their half of the galaxy
>>153026273Just how powerful are the Irken?
>>153038934they're intergalactic conquerers who turn planets into parking lots and snack factories and one invader is usually enough to take over a planet, with whatever supertech they toss the invader over. I think their society got extremely decadent at some point as there is no way they started as the tallest we see who behave like 14 year olds. The irkens have some real fucked up mother issues as well IIRC.
>Look up wiki for details on the irkens>They use fanfic as a source sometimesffs
>>153038934they're a caste system where manlets are automatically considered to be inferior, so you can probably make inferences based on human civilization
>>153039208They are freaking cool. It'd be nice to create them in Stellaris
>>153039549pretty sure someone did that already.
>>153039549>>153039921There is a mod, does not look bad but I expected the massive being included
>>153039983>custom civic "invader culture"what does it do?
>>153040013Sounds very Irken-ish, the mod was last updated in new year, and seems they may add "A potential event chain revolving around Operation Impending Doom and Operation Impending Doom 2, possibly giving the Irken Empire certain buffs in regards to invading/infiltrating primitives."I'm contemplating installing stellaris just for this
>>153040121That civic seems good to have for multispecies imperialist civs in general
>>153039240This wiki used to be very solid, and it probably still has a lot of refined work put into it, but it's sad to see it have any TV Tropes type problems in main articles.
>>153026273Does anyone know where the line comes from at the end of episode 1's credits? It sounds like Gaz saying "ooh, cool" but she barely talked in Ep 1. Is it from a later episode?
the comms officer got it the worst
>>153041102not even close
>Operation Impending DoomHow Subtle
I'm not gonna say I expected a revival or more comics, but if Nick/Jhonen did nothing for the 25th anniversary then it really is over for this series. The community is still kicking around strong and at least that's something positive to take from this.God I miss this show.
Which episode is worse for you? Mortos or Taster of Pork?
>>153042328If I was paying attention to the years I'd have hoped for some sort of simple buzz for the 25th anniversary, like a behind the scenes little thing from Nick or whatever, even if just one post on socials with a few pics. Looks like their twitter accounts have been dormant for 2-3 years now though.John Fountain posted a bunch of his art on twitter today at least so he gave people something even if everyone just prefers to use him as a low hanging fruit punching bag here. As a production art nerd I'm glad to see a little more I don't recall seeing in the Zim art book (not that I got the chance to own it, but there's flipthroughs online.)
>>153042425>>15304232825 years is long enough to kill all good old values. Bleak.
>>153042370I literally forgot Mortos was an episode.
>>153042370The Voting of the Doomed
>>153042328im fine with no revival and the enter the florpus stuff was okay and I had wondered if it'd be a futurama situation with it at the time but was fine with it ending there as well. Some of it is also me just not believing they'd recapture the feel of it well and florpus already had people saying it sanded down some of the edge of the original series.
>>153042425>>153042425>something even if everyone just prefers to use him as a low hanging fruit punching bag here. That was honestly the most forced example I've seen of trying to turn someone into a lolcow, John made only a few weird tweets for his indie show, but that's about it
>>153043179I honestly really like florpus gaz, she's allowed to be more active and silly
>>153043206BigDad influenced Jhonen in a big way
>>153043206They should've honed in on her love of Bloatys or how crazy she can get when she's wronged like the Iggins episode. Not "I'm only hard on you becaue I know you can handle it" like she didn't leave him for dead before. Her being more goofy just feels like trying to backtrack on her.
>>153043315completely delusional take. It must be bait, but i'll point it out anyways.
>>153043316>she left him for dad"He'll be fine. He's fat."
>>153036970Best pairing cuz i said so
>>153042370Gaz Taster of Pork, not nearly enough of Zim dunking on Dib
>>153026273Literally not only the greatest nicktoon ever made but my personal favorite cartoon and favorite show of all time too. I wanna fuck gaz, i love the art style, the edgy humor, the fact that its filled with cool aliens and that zim hates humanity and wants to enslave the human race almost as much as i do, did i mention how much i wanna fuck gaz by now? Also gir is a chad and tak is also extremely breedable. And seeing dib suffer fuels me even if i still enjoy headcanoning gaz begrudgingly giving dib handies and wincest seggs just to make sure he doesnt hang himself in the middle of the night. Really wish jhonen would make another cartoon someday but that based mexican mother fucker seems to be content just mooching off residuals from nick and playing hero shooters for all time now or whatever video game crap he is into now. Enter the florpus was good i dont care what the critics say it was leagues ahead of that shitty rocko movie. I hope tak is being gapped by alien cocks of various degrees in moo-ping 10 and she secretly begrudgingly loves it too being used as an irken love doll.

>>153046721Why did they have to ruin hooker gaz with that god awful tan?
>>153043316Yeah, that's fair, I just don't know how you'd exactly fit that into the plot. I guess I just like Gaz showing more emotion in general while still hating most of everything
