So after last nights incredibly lackluster “prank”, it made me think about the actual state the network is in, as in, what do they even have in the pipeline at this point? We all remember the 2020 prank where they showed off a bunch of upcoming content, did they not do something similar because they have so little?Right now their ONLY premier is Rooster Fighter, CGI anime shit for the weeb crowd. And in the immediate future, Rick and Morty S9 is set for late May, and still has a contract up to S12. Other shit that may or may not be cancelled>My Adventures with Superman S3 and S4Not even an AS show, something they were forced to take from CN that ended up being successful >Common Side Effects S2Probably still coming with all the awards S1 got>Haha You Clowns S2I guess people liked the autistic boys show? >Get Jiro! Some psuedo western anime novel written by Anthony Bourdein. Announced years ago, radio silence since, might be dead >Super Mutant Magic AcademySome Harry Potter parody webcomic adapted by JG Quintel. Another radio silence show so also might be dead >My Two CarsJoe Pera project, just recently announced >President CurtisR&M spinoff following the president, supposedly coming this year. Is that it? Are we getting to the point where Adult Swim gives up entirely and just coasts on Fox reruns and R&M seasons until the channel collapses?
>>153052424Even though the merger with Paramount is unlikely to finalize, it’s likely still causing them to be more selective with greenlighting stuff until something finalizes
>>153052424>just coasts on Fox rerunsHaven't FOX reruns been propping up AS for years now? But yes, with Michael and Zach dropping Smiling Friends, AS is pretty much washed.
>>153052551Yes, but AS was still putting in their own efforts too. Most AS shows have zero rerun value, Fox shows are a necessary evil to pay the bills during primetime
>>153052424They theoretically have more Primal too, but as sick as that show is it's not enough to keep them afloat. It's not a cash cow like Rick & Memey or SF.
>>153052424>that ended up being successfulCitation needed. Every time it gets threads here it's swarmed by racebaiters. That's the opposite of success.
what was the prank
AS has been dying since Lazzo left. That it still has a few shows worth watching is miraculous.
>>153052508Probably a good move, given everything that had to be sacrificed to Zaslav during the last mergerI'm still fucking pissed about Mao Mao season 2
>>153052424That's still like, ten times better than everyone else is doingand I don't just mean every network, I mean every single business.we're completely fucked, let go of it. stay in the past, with me. with us.
>>153052424>>153052541
>>153052424Nothing can be worse than the Pibby one, didnt even get greenlit
>>153052941Nobody cares what /co/ thinks. Getting renewed for 2 more seasons despite being a CN castoff is nothing but success
>>153053298>>153052541You just can’t help but shit up any AS thread, can you?
>>153053161that show was too good to be allowed to continue.>>153053531why did anyone think pibby would become a series? we already SAW the entire 'show' beginning to end. we know every plot beat. it would mean nothing now.
>>153053531Pibby was never going to be greenlit. Its creator has super rich parents that strong armed AS into playing with the idea to appease their autistic child.
>>153053643Watch as Image Dump Fag raids this thread as always.
>>153052948The short film that was being watched at the beginning of The Curse of the Green Halloween Witch in Smiling Friends was shown in full, and transitioned to the rest of the episode. Then they played the rest of season 3 except for The Glep Ep. There was also an ad/bumper for the final episode where they shoved in a few things implying the show might not be ending (using If This Is It by Huey Lewis and The News, clip of Charlie asking if this is going to be like the Brazil trip from the camping episode). Here's the short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC6bb9YcvBU
>>153053646Because the retarded creator was pitching it as a full series and since the YT short did so well it made people think it had a chance. Problem was, the creator wouldn’t settle for legally safe parody characters, he only wanted the actual IPs to shit all over. And he actually thought he could go cross network too and get shit from Nick, as well as certain iconic Toonami series.
>>153053699He shits up Toonami General every Saturday too. Does he ever leave /co/?
So what was this year's AS April Fools joke? I must have missed it
>>153053711Wait that was it? That's disappointing.
>>153053738Shitty claymation thing that the Smiling Friends were watching on TV during the Halloween episode. The “prank” was 12 minutes long total
>>153053733Are you talking about Image Dump Fag or the other guy posting here at the moment?
>>153053800Idk they may be the same person, he is obsessed with early era AS and 90s anime. Usually in TG he posts low quality screenshots of anime ass from shitty 90s shows.
>>153052424AS has some con panels coming up, so maybe that will be where they give some clarity on future projects
>>153053631Nobody talks about this show. Getting constantly spammed on /co/ is what the marker for success is. Otherwise we'd be shilling Sofia The First by default.
>>153054020Why not report him for spamming? This isn't Toonami General yet, so it doesn't count as "ritualposting".
>>153054185>Nobody talks about this showNTA but I've seen discussion for this show outside of /co/, usually when a new season drops/co/ is not a good metric for success
>>153052424While it's probably in decline. I think all the merger talks have them slowing down for a bit to avoid having things potentially get ruined by a merger
This network peaked in 2007 with Xavier: Renegade Angel. They had a miracle hit in 2018 with Ballmastrz, but the shows inextricable from their core identity have long since wrapped, and they’ve been reduced to airing shitty alt comedy like The Eric Andre Show to stay alive. Their reputation is now more closely associated with anticapitalist Garfield meme people than actual cartoon creators.
I wish they'd stop running their network like a bunch of stoners who just pick shit depending on whether or not their friends on r/weed said they liked it. Being more open to new properties is nice but for fucks sake have some variety.
>>153054202This board is basically unmoderated
>>153055279It’s being a dude weed network was its core identity
that boston incident really ruined everything and the discovery merger was the final nail. its a lifeless corpse at this point
