How the fuck do I get copies of Tatjana Wood‘s original Swamp Thing colours? Are scans of single issues my best bet? Also, recolour thread.
>>153052659i hate digital colorists so fucking much. they have no artistic ability. just follow a fucking ctrl paint tutorial and shit out art ruining slop. the newer reprints getting the slop treatment are disgusting looking.
>>153053165>comicsColoristsSuck3.jpgDo you have the others?
>>153052659The regular trades had the regular colors.
>>153053315No they don’t, the middle panel in op’s photo is the tpb version. I don’t have the files ready to post other comparisons bur they certainly are.
>>153053371No, the middle one is touched up and made brighter. The left is a result of the paper that they no longer use.
>>153053565Moron.
>>153053565It’s pretty self evidently different, even taking that into account. Note the missing text as well. Only the sun seems to be comparable between the two
>>153053617You're a fucking retard and you might be the same retard that had me pull out my trade to take a picture of it back like 8 or 9 years ago.>>153053653The one on the left was only ever seen in the original trades because of the paper quality and deterioration, middle is touched up and brighter than what appears in the tpb, it's probably digital.
>>153053565Yeah that's the fucking problem, it doesn't look like the original issues anymore, it looks like shit. Really the only answer to this is just buying the original or searching the internet for old scans.
>>153053758Prove it
>>153053782First of all, you look like shit. Second of all, what you want is a specific time capsule, the very first trades that came out then didn't look like left either. Idiot. Third of all, your only option is probably looking up scans because the actual floppies from then will look even more different now.
>>153052659>>153053165This stuff makes me extremely angry. I just read that they're reprinting Neal Adams Batman with original colors though, however what with April Fool's Day who even knows anymore.
>>153053824Why are you so adamant about being wrong?
>>153053824What I want is for every modern reprint to not look like garish dogshit so I don't have to spend my time looking for back issues or scans. I will never get this though.
>>153053758It's obviously not the same color scheme, fucking idiot. We can all see it clear as day.
>>153053758>me pull out my trade to take a picture of itPOST ITPOST ITPOST IT
>>153053977
>>153052659>>153053977Even leaving the coloring aside, the old scans are better. They look more detailed
>>153054296I always thought the old paper has a nice texture to it and I guess the printing of the time or whatever gives the color a bit of variation so it's not just a flat boring color
>>153053977>Original has a yellow tie>Recolor has a glow in the dark tie
We need to go back to the days of child labor. Theres so much heart in having your kids use their crayons to finish the pages that digital just can't capture.
Shakespeare plays are typically believed to have originally been acted entirely by males
>>153053565Nah. It's still recolored. I have two copies of the first tpb collecting the Moore run. One from ~2010 with Vertigo branding and a newer one with Black Label branding. The older's newsprint is rougher so it approxinates more closely the original colors, but the telltale sign is the missing caption from the top left, "Meet the sun". The Black Label version has smoother newsprint and is more obviously OP's middle image. OP's middle image looks like the recolor on glossy paper so it's super obvious. The right image is colors from the Absolute editions. The Vertigo trade I have isn't that old though, so maybe a 90's printing got it right, idk.
>>153052659The last DC solicits had a swamp thing book that mentioned an Alan Moore swamp thing omnibus is coming with the original colors
