What's the job market look like for the entire animation industry right now? I see a lot of graduates and veterans alike despairing saying they haven't been able to find work for over a year. Is the industry is a dire job drought right now, or is it just confirmation bias that people who don't have work are going to be the loudest online?
>>153054823its bad everywhere dude
>>153054823that's every industrywe're adjusting to the fact that it was never supposed to be 'every able-bodied adult has a job' because there literally aren't that many jobs. we're inventing new ones all the time like 'guy whose job it is to keep updating and screwing up the interface on our website' or 'guy who constantly nitpicks what everyone is allowed to do and then submits it as a new law'and we've started with lowering employment down to a sane level. we just haven't then multiplied the pay by ten, which is a basic given for this to keep working.
>>153054844Anyone with proficiency in 3D animation is still finding work. Not just character animators, but stuff like rig artists, VFX artists, texture artists, 3D modelers, etc.
>>153054823every industry is currently shitting itself to death because management thinks AI will save them a buck, on top of the economy in general collapsing as the US surrenders its primacy and the petrodollar by repeatedly shooting itself in the face
>>153054823It's dead. Everyone is fleeing L.A. and it's a good thing.
>>153055050But remember: if anyone says there aren't enough jobs for immigrants they're lying. It's just that there's not enough jobs for you!
>>153054844>>153054823>>153055050art has ALWAYS been a competitive industry to get into because everybody wants to be an artist because it's the easiest fucking job ever. just like acting and modelling, which is why they have the whole SAG AFTRA thing to reduce competition and keep wages high, if they didn't have that actors would be making minimum wage because studios could hire any dick and harry off the street to replace them Actual subzero IQs with no talent thinking they'll get an art degree and get an easy job out of art school is a trend throughout history. Just look at Hitler, his art was shit and he expected to get into a top tier schoolWhy would companies want animators based in the U.S when they put out subpar product, no work ethic, and want high wages? If you have real talent you can make it online by yourself. Just draw furry scat inflation porn for commissions online while you wageslave, bitching that companies won't hire you is pathetic we live in an age where you can bypass middlemen online and you can become popular on the basis of your own merit
>>153055050>i have the right to be employed by an animation company in los angeles at 90,000 a year minimum, it's littterally in the un charter of human rights>being an agricultural worker? ew only poors do that>working at a slaughterhouse? ew only poors do that>learning a trade? ew only poors do that>ok maybe you need a more intellectual pursuit, how about going to community college and getting a bachelors in mathmatics? ew only nerds do that>producing something of value? ew only poors do that>i will only accept this one specific job at this unrealistic wage even if the job doesn't exist anymore in this country. oh woe is me the ravages of capitalism claim another victim
>>153055560>yes goyim, work in the fields for our pleasure>crawl around in the muck for us>destroy your body in our service>white collar jobs only belong to God's chosen people now
>>153055676>no you don't understand i can't get an animation job because of the jews!!!!11!the reaching is unreal
>>153054823AI can make whatever those shmucks can do, we just need to feed more and more RAM to the AI God in order to get our wishes come true.
>>153055734>the thing about mathematics was a little joke, there weren't any jobs for math majors before, and now AI is going to take that too>your only option is manual labor in our service>just accept it, goy
>>153055768>in a nation of 350 million people there is not one job for a bachelors in math, I ran the numbers, something something AI >that's why I'm unemployed, Mom! 35 is still young!
In this thread, people blaming literally anyone except the rich billionaires who are openly laying off folks, encouraging shitty content for profit, and fucking up the work force for young people so their lines continue to go upY’all fucking suck
>>153055821look anon, I get that you're very proud of being a first year math major, but majoring in pure mathematics is retarded unless you want to go on to teach math, because that's about the limit of your career options with a math major (and teaching math below the college level is a nightmare, and there are very limited options for a real career teaching math at the college level). If you want to actually make a career out of math, you major in accounting or engineering or physics or chemistry or some other applied mathematics discipline.
>>153055860They’d beed to get a doctorate in Mathematics if they want any real job prospects.I graduated college a few years ago. The ones who were able to find jobs quickly were Electrical (non-computer) and Mechanical engineers. Computer science and Aerospace Engineers were suffering a bit (Especially if you didn’t wanna work in defense). However I know a lot of people who did everything right and are still getting laid offIf anon got a PhD in applied mathematics and decided to work for a defense contractor or an alphabet organization, he’ll have a good shot at being fine
>>153055830Don't expect /co/ to have a IQ that's above room temperature water to come to that conclusion
>>153055830It's easier than ever to become an artist online bro, you don't need to work for a company if your art is actually good and people want to pay you for it. Art industry has always been hard to get into, it's always been full of nepobabies taping bananas to walls, since basically the end of ww2. Bypass all the middlemen and stand on your own merit if you are actually confident about your artistic talent>>153055905When I made that post I was actually thinking of a friend who became a quant with just a bachelors degree in math. Even my fuckass stoner cousin who I'd thought never amount to anything got an aerospace job which is why I'm never getting on a plane again
>>153055929for every online artist who’s successful, there’s a thousand who barely have over 100 followers touch some grass, anon
>>153055830And also the AI generated stuff is helping scammers and destroying the enviroment
>>153055305Keep coping nigga lmao
>>153055967>he believes in the environment
>>153055830>Dah Ebul billionairs forced me to make garbage that no one wants to watch, making them fire me because I waste their moneyMake something people would want to pay for or make something on your own dime.
>>153055830>>153055927It requires no intelligence to be a communist, it’s just that every thought you make is defined by communism, so it’s the only thing you associate with thinking>the vibe is deterioratingGood. The worse communists feel, the better off society is.
>>153055965Sounds like it's a saturated market, and you should do something else if you want money.
>>153055965Yeah, because they draw like shit and make garbage nobody wants to see, even when it's free
>>153054823All the smart ones who were already in the industry went into preschool animation with their connections. There's really nothing stable left for upcoming artists in the industry. That's why there's all these indie animation studio attempts.
>>153055560>>being an agricultural worker? ew only poors do thatSince the dawn of time, humanity has searched for way to avoid working in the camps. Turn out that agriculture is a fucking demanding job and very few people are capable to endure it.
>>153054823If you're third world the industry is doing alright. California is dead unless you're already rich and planning on hiring lol
>>153054823There’s a bar graph of cartoons shows per year image around here that looks like it fell off a cliff
>>153056509>and very few people are capable to endure it.???There's a reason why the vast majority of humanity stopped being hunter-gatherers after the rise of agriculture.
>>153055305This
>>153056639Anon, those people didn't chose to work in the farm by themselves. Just for that answer I know that you are soft and probably a good day of harvesting under the sun will break you.
