why cant comics just >tell one continuous story from start to finish>not do tie ins, relaunches etc shit that just messed up telling one long story>tell a story in ONE book instead of shit like having two batman ongoings (that sometimes connect) two superman ongoings (that sometimes connect), events and shit where the stoy is running in one book but if you want to find out what happened you have to buy other book etc>let art tell the story instead of having literal essay amounts of words sometimes >stop doing retcons because explaining them is usually more confusing and head scratching then just changing something in the story

It's like the writer for the comic wanted to write a novel, but somehow wound up working in the comic industry instead. Making it worse is that they then proceed to be utterly terrible at "show, don't tell" in their text walls. Surely, these authors realize that even if they were writing an entirely text story, that you can describe things like flashbacks in writing, right?

>>153057018>>153057018i read manga for years before i got into comics and still prefer them so im biased but i feel like since most western comics have a writer and artist instead of just one person doing both (manga has duos too but you know what i mean) the writers feel like they have to "pull their weight" so to speak. like they dont feel they can let the art do the talking and write less words because then they arent doing much of anything really. this is just a theory i have idk. i also feel like they tend to go overboard with internal monologues/narration. why not SHOW some of this stuff instead of writing three paragraphs of it or just letting the art/story tell us itself?
