https://x.com/RawkTalks/status/2039352460100174073Paramount cancelled the film to focus on a Sonic-inspired live-action reboot and sequels to Mutant Mayhem.
Corporate executives are idiots. This needs to go forward.
I’m convinced every last ronin project dies because they start to read past the initial set up and realize “wow this sucks”
Is there a sure guarantee that it'll succeed in ticket sales?
>>153061387Pretty sure that was just footage they shot for the featurette. You know, just so it isn’t just Eastman talking and drawing.
>>153061616This footage does its own thing by making Mikey act like the old movie version with the slapstick. Like the Loganmovie, you can just use the premise as a jump off.
>sequels to Mutant Mayhem.Riiight. "Sequels".
>>153061387Was this a sequel to the 90s movies?
>>153062615That was the plan. They even wanted Paige Turco back as April.
>>153061387It’s canceled!?!?
>>153062639Yes. They want to reboot the films to be more like the Sonic movies.
>>153062591MM2 comes out next year and a 3rd film is in development. Plus they made an animated short film, two seasons of a show and a comic series. So already plenty of 'sequel' material even if MM2 ends up bombing or something. >>153062634Yeah its too bad, would have been cool to see her as an older April.
>>153063058>a 3rd film is in developmentWas. If they want to reboot the films they'll release MM2 out of obligation and thats it.
Tbh, story of The Last Ronin comic was basically written by Tom Waltz. If this was written by Kevin and Peter, we might see even more violent scenes. Mikey will slaughtering Foot soldiers instead of fighting robots. He will kill Karai with his own hands, and would even enjoy see Hiroto cry like a little baby because his mommy was killed.
>>153063144The news of the 3rd film in development came from the same announcement that Last Ronin was cancelled and a new sonic-style live-action reboot was in development. The new live-action one, at this point, is not replacing the current animated ones, its just another live-action film.
>>153063173Yeah, but you know how studios are. They stick with what makes more money. If the live action outgrosses MM2, goodbye MM3.
>>153061387Looks cool
