What are you working on? Any issues, questions, or concerns? Got plans? Obviously don't share what you aren't comfortable with sharing
>You DO have your own original characters with meaningful names, detailed backgrounds, personalities, and unique abilities, RIGHT?
>You do imagine how they would interact with characters from your favorite franchises, RIGHT?
>You DO listen to music and put your characters going through imaginary AMVs, RIGHT?
>You DO have a song in mind for the animated credit sequence of a live action film adaptation of your characters that will go on to win an oscar, RIGHT?
>You DO have a post credit scene in your head that would introduce the audience to the next character, RIGHT?

>What are you working on?
Self-indulgent mutant OC partly at the behest of a friend, partly as practice for bigger things. She’s on the much higher end of the power scale because I’ve been writing street-level for too long. I’ve just finished thumbnailing the first issue of her comic.

>Any issues, questions, or concerns? Got plans?
Why are you making this thread again? I appreciate the enthusiasm for fanfiction, but there’s already a plethora of drawthread generals that fulfill its purpose.

>You DO have your own original characters with meaningful names, detailed backgrounds, personalities, and unique abilities, RIGHT?
Yes, though only one real hero come to think of it. Her rogues gallery is like twice as big as her supporting cast. Maybe I should do something about that…

>You do imagine how they would interact with characters from your favorite franchises, RIGHT?
Kind of. I have a bad habit of keeping OCs almost entirely separate from canon characters… even in fanfiction. (I tend to just use the world and setting as opposed to established characters.)
The OC I mentioned before is specifically engineered to go against this, but even then I’m pussying out by only having her interact with my favorites/any “big deals” once in a blue moon despite being a regular guest at one of their headquarters.

>You DO listen to music and put your characters going through imaginary AMVs, RIGHT?
I am unfortunately not autistic enough for this. Yet.
I do tend to dream up theme songs (despite having no musical ability). Does that count?

>You DO have a song in mind for the animated credit sequence of a live action film adaptation of your characters that will go on to win an oscar, RIGHT?
Fuck no, why would I ever want to see my girl on the big screen? They’ll just do her dirty or water down her entire gimmick.

>You DO have a post credit scene in your head that would introduce the audience to the next character, RIGHT?
See above.

>Why are you making this thread again?
Because I don't know anywhere else to find this kind of discussion. I want to talk about my OCs but I am terrible at drawing and so I imagine repeatedly longposting on drawthreads for OCs would be very annoying to others. I really wish there was a general for writing original stories and OCs that is focused on writing
>>
>>153066163
That’s understandable, then. Godspeed anon. I’m pretty sure any other place to discuss this kind of thing isn’t going to really amount to much. Twitter is too busy being Twitter, Reddit is too busy nitpicking everything to death. Forums are lol.

How’s your Webcomic? and all the drawthreads are probably the closest you’ll get to a fanfiction general, but I guess if you aren’t drawing then there’s an obvious problem with using those.

If you want to talk about your OCs, feel free to elaborate.

>If you want to talk about your OCs, feel free to elaborate.
It's going well but I need to write a lot more. A lot of what I have in mind only exists in my head, so my first step has been writing these ideas down so they're not floating as nebulous concepts

I am really happy with my speedster. I ran him with my friends who are very critical and have no qualms about being harsh and they love him. I think I found managed to a way to balance a speedster that I haven't seen with any other speedster and it doesn't force me to neuter him or come up with stupid reasons as to why he couldn't just solve every situation like the writers of the Flash have to do. His hero name is literally perfect and I have not seen it used before
>>
>>153065829
I have an original character.
But all his stories are in my head.
I haven’t put to paper yet.
>>
>>153066426
Anything you want to share about him? Even if you omit a lot?
>>
>>153066320
Good on you, anon. My OC’s in a similar place. Her name is one I’m really shocked has barely been used (I think there’s like one person who shares it and it’s an irrelevant side character from the Bronze Age), and her powers are a combination I haven’t seen anywhere else. The friend who got me on this kick in the first place helped me dream them up, so he should really be getting the credit for that, so he of course approves lol.

Just out of curiosity— are your friends irl or online? I haven’t really got anyone in-person to share this stuff with. My LCS is really hard to get to right now due to some renovation work going on, so I have to wait a while if I want to start showing up there and making friends.
>>

My ideas are far too good to share on here, but I'm working on several big comic book projects. All original. If I execute them properly, they should be kinda revolutionary, but I'm a bit dismayed that probably no one will read them.

>Just out of curiosity— are your friends irl or online?
Online. The friend I talk to the most about these characters with is from High school but the rest are people I met online
>>
>>153066753
…where did you meet them? I’m lonely lol.

I was surprised at how few characters there that share my hero's name. All of them are inconsequential miscellaneous literally whos
>>153066821
I found a few of my friends when I commissioned them for art and the rest from discord servers that were entirely unrelated to worldbuilding
>>
>>153065829
I’m wanting to make a webcomic of my Superman fan fic with the serial number filed off and legally different in an exercise to try to work thru my traumas with my dad and my family falling apart. The whole thing is a super hero who didn’t have a paragon of morality like uncle Ben or the Kents to help guide him thru life. My main themes I’m hoping come across are loneliness, bad parenting, identity, morality, and love. But I’m also very lazy and rather than try to work thru my issues I’ll probably just keep burying them until I have a full mental breakdown and am locked up
>>
>>153065829
I am, writing and drawing actually. It’s a kids book. My first attempt couldn’t find any luck with publishing agents, maybe this one will. Or maybe I make comics nobody wants to publish that I’ll show my niece and nephew and die alone. Either was is fine with me.
