Can we just admit that power armor is the coolest "power"? There's just something about the combination of gadgetry and flying brick that makes it so engaging. Also shiny metal.
>>153073024>powerPower? It's more of a tool or weapon.I mean, having magic armor doesn't give me powers.
>>153073024No, because capeshit artists usually have no idea how to design 'power armor' so it ends up looking garbage.
>>153073024>If your armor is your power, what are you without it?
Cartoon techjacket has such a terrible design.
>>153073044>It's more of a tool or weapon.Yes, which is part of my point. It's the best because it's not even a power. Personally, I find ingenuity much more inspiring than any innate abilities.
>>153073053A WASTE OF FLESH
Girls in armor are so fucking hoooooooooooooooooooot
Delicious Pepper.
>>153073046Then who does know how to design power armor? And for the love of God don't say 40k
>>15307418840k
>>153073024its a have your cake and eat it too kind of set up for a superherocause you can make it as powerful as you want but still keep the "regular person" underneaththey can be the strongest character around unless the writer wants them to be vulnerable, then the suit malfunctions or gets sabotagedits a built in narrative kryptonite
>>153073024Pfft no, nothing is cooler to me than when someone’s weapon breaks or they’re down to no other options they simple brawl and use there fists.
>>153073024
>>153073024What a garbage redesign.
>>153073024Power armor has the same advantage that giant robots do in a fight: not only do they just look cool and have awesome super attacks, but the armor/robot exterior is allowed to get properly *fucked up* in a fight. You can have some serious robo-carnage that makes the fight feel dangerous and put the hero on the back foot without actually needing to lose an arm. This lets you have awesome, explosive fights that feel like they have stakes because its actually possible for the hero to get grievously injured or even outright lose without being crippled.
>>153074991Pretty much, yeah. It also implies intelligence, since the person wearing it likely has some basic engineering knowledge to be able to maintain it. >>153075521Battle damage is not something I had considered before, but you're absolutely right.
>>153073471You'd love the Bubblegum Crisis/AD Police universe
>>153073024Even better if the 'power armor' isn't just an iron man suit you wear like a tank and instead is something that defies understanding.
>>153075521Even better: that carnage gives the writers an excuse to introduce MOAR ARMOR. Which is always awesome. “Aw man, the Mark VI got fucked up in my last fight against the BBEG. Better make a new model with four times the nuclear warheads and a built-in screwdriver.”
>>153075521You also get cool shit like this to show some real panic.
>>153075977Good scene, but it lacks oomph without the screams. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRshG1zVnsA
If you were designing a new power armored hero, what do you think are the essential abilities/gadgets/powers such a hero needs to have? Like, yes, they have cool armor. But what does it DO?
>>153076356an Autoblow 3000
>>153073024Tech Jacket, even just as a static design, looks so much worse here than the comic. Where's the BULK?
>>153073044>I mean, having magic armor doesn't give me powers. Many an ancient lord's last words had been "You can't kill me because I've got magic aaargh."
>>153073024Power armors are the coolest.>>153073471Don't forget cute!
I prefer it when the japanese do power armor/suits
>>153073024t. viltrumite breeding toy
Do you prefer power armor characters to lean more towards Iron Man, where the armor doesn't matter too much and the guy inside it is a super genius, or Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle where the armor literally makes the hero and the hero isn't as smart as the thing he's wearing
>>153075920
>>153076356For me there are some powers that are vital; >movement, be a jetpack, weels or turbo legs, an armor is heavy and you have to move it around somehow>special vision types, like x-ray or termal>servo streng, the point of the armor is also to give more streng to the user after allThats the basics for me, but i can see someone making a power armor without some of these. (I think that fallout dont have movement)
See what I really want is for some villain to catch the hero with their metaphorical pants down, stab them in the back and revel in the hero's defeat only for the armor to get up and open fire and we see our tech hero is at home in their PJ's manually controlling the suit.
>>153079105Ironically, despite my love of power armor, I hate Tony Stark. Civil War genuinely ruined him for me.
I grew up reading comics where Iron Man got bullied by absolutely everyone, even full robots, so it's hard for me to take power armor very seriously.
>>153079196That's more because the character is an asshole. He deserved to get bullied. Power armor is still cool though. We still have Rhodey.
>>153079171It's more about aura than anything
