About to watch The Prince of Egypt (1998) what am I on for I hope nothing too jewy.
A Jew is given preferential treatment, decides it's not enough and destroys an entire society just to get what he wants.
It is a faithful retelling of the original myth. It has classic dreamworks animation, and great music.
>>153074648>watches a movie about the Old Testament>written, directed and scored by JewsYou get what you signed up for.Jokes aside, Prince of Egypt is peak. It and the 73 Jesus Christ Superstar are objectively some of the best 'Bible' movies of all time in terms of entertainment value if you aren't counting old hollywood epics.Something about being able to critically evaluate the texts while still holding to them as spiritual and deserving respect makes a great movie.
>>153074800That version of JC superstar is my favorite musical of all time I think and I usually hate musicalslop. I learned how to sing the songs and everything. Jesus and Judas are so well portrayed, and their voices! Holy shit!
>>153074833 Part of it is just kino music. The rest is because the main sources are Mark and Matthew read on their own terms without all of the shit added on later. The two gospels that are the best from a purely literary standpoint. Also its weirdly Girardian for a musical showing the evil and insanity of crowds. Like Caiaphas, the arch villain has understandable reasons for wanting Jesus crucified and takes less pleasure in his death and suffering than the people who once swarmed around him in adoration. He understood how fickle anf quick to violence they were and in his own twisted way put the needs of the undeserving many above the singular innocent. Annas was just a shithead though.
>>153074800>>153074833HE IS DAAAAAANGEROOOOOOUS
>>153074698Shut up, fag
>>153074648It’s the story of exodus with the golden calf part left out. You can’t get more jewy than that.
>>153076036Fuck off, burger.
>>153074833>That version of JC superstar is my favorite musical of all time I think and I usually hate musicalslop.I personally prefer the 20th anniversary cast recording, but mostly because that's what I started out with - the 73 movie is great too. The musical buildup in Trial & 39 Lashes where Pilate goes from calm to shrieking with each whipcrack is fucking amazing.
