Imagine still giving a fuck about Star Wars in the year of our Lord two thousand and six and twenty.
>>
>>153079054
one again i'll just state it

this show will be 10 episodes of darth maul fighting guys and it'll just be slop
he's a boring character that's as deep as a puddle but because he says big words in a certain tone, people think he's well written

fpbp, Disney killed Star Wars

>Show takes time during the reign of the Empire
>Maul explicitly mentioned he can't beat Vader in Rebels
>Palps has a grudge with him
It was pretty obvious. I'm just surprised they put him in season 1 already
>>
>>153083026
Isn't there only gonna be one season?
>>
>>153079054
OP I live in a world where Dune might become the next star wars, and unlike the latter, it has a cannon child molestor fat bastard that mind rapes the main protags children into becoming him. That has more balls than the palpatine dynamic in the sega

I can't for the life on me give a single shit for Star Wars anymore. I used to love the series back in Lucas' era, but ever since Disney bought it every single movie or series or whatever just feels like the same shit. The only one I liked was Andor, and that was only because it at least felt different from the usual Disney slop.

Everything they touch tends to become the same generic shit, it's kind of impressive in a way.

They announced Season 2 very recently.
The last time they did this was Rebels, so they must be confident in the product.
>>
>>153083289
I don't know if it's confidence, but if it is? It's really fucking misplaced. I think it's just the way these types do "business" these days - they write contracts for two seasons before the first one even airs.

>I don't know if it's confidence, but if it is? It's really fucking misplaced.
May I ask why?
I know 4chan blindly hates anything SW these days but it sounds like an easy win to me
>Plays in the popular imperial era
>Has an interesting focus on the criminal underworld
>Maul is a fan favorite
>His VA hasn't let us down so far
>We will learn new Sith lore which the wiki fags are thirsty for
>The tone of the show is at least a little gritty
>Lightsaber duels will always be cool
>New Twilek waifu
>The dynamic of the show implies Maul and the girl will have some sort of interesting dynamic, whether it be dad/kid like Mando or something darker.
>The animation looks good so far
What do you think will be so bad about it?

>they write contracts for two seasons before the first one even airs.
If they didn't, you'd just be complaining how long it takes between seasons. You'll never be happy with that attitude.
>>
>>153083459
>May I ask why?

They have no reason to feel confident, and they've given me no reason to think they'll make a good product. Nothing they've done has performed very well. Andor's been well received, and they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with the Mandalorian. The Acolyte was dismal and they knew it would fail and they went hard in on the usual excuses and deflections. In the end they couldn't even accept their fault and blamed the cancellation of the Acolyte on the chuds and not that they made a poor product.

Frankly, anon, I have no reason to think I'm the target audience. For literal YEARS the people behind Star Wars have said it's not for me, or for you, and they're not interested in telling good stories, they're interested in using Star Wars to proselytize and spread their social messaging.

>If they didn't, you'd just be complaining how long it takes between seasons. You'll never be happy with that attitude.

I don't mind waiting for good shows or even mediocre shows that I enjoy, anon. Don't be like them and poison the well preemptively like they do.

>Maul is a fan favorite
Really?
>>
>>153081515
It was fun slop and cared about its audience.
Its a skinsuit worn by greedy baby eaters and sociopathic elitist rapist sycophants hiding behind false virtue

Its dead. There is nothing left in it.
>>
>>153083799
Yes. Maul was originally popular for prequel fans because "Two-bladed lightsaber?!"
That's why Clone Wars brought him back. CW then proceeded to utilize him fairly well, giving him interesting plot and cool fights. Obviously his Rebels appearance is worse off since he's a Shadow of his former self, but it was still beloved.
Not to mention his Voice Actor is greatly liked among the community.
He's a very simplistic character due to his simple goal (revenge) that works well under any circumstance.
>>
>>153083459
NTA but my issue is that it feels like a waste of time, like this story should have been a comic

maul is already overused, they should have spent the resources on a show about someone else

Any suggestions?

Starwars made 3 (arguably 2) good movies back in the 80's and has been riding on that goodwill for 40 years.

In retrospect, TFA was probably the singe worst thing that happened to our entertainment landscape

>>153082979

I hate how nowadays they just slap Vader or any major character in everything Star Wars, They know it only sells due to nostalgia bait, so they go out of their way to include this and that in the story just because of memberberries.

Unfortunately, star Wars is just a reanimated corpse these days.
>>
>>153085845
>so they go out of their way to include this
I get what you mean, but I feel like Vader makes the most sense when he appears.
He's the main Jedi Hunter, and we keep getting media about Jedi post Order 66, so of course he shows up after the Inquisitors keep jobbing.
He never showed up in Bad Batch.

>TFA comes out
>Even people whose opinions I trust bent backwards for it
>Thought it was a very mid 5/10- not offensivlly bad but some of the most generic nothing films ever
>Thought GotG 1 which came like a year prior was substantially better Sci-Fi action movie with heart
>Back in 2015 this opinion would get you derided
>TLJ comes out
>The moment this film came out- Star Wars opinions and reputation fucking droped like a 90 degree angle
>Almost instantously TFA went from "The great reurn of SW" to "Mediocre slop that just rehashes the first film"
I do feel bad for SWfags but there is an evil part of me that finds immense schadenfraude over the whole thing and hope the ride never ends.
>>
>>153085889
>we keep getting media about Jedi post Order 66
I'm honestly sick of the period but we'll probably only move past it once they find a new era to mine for a decade.
>>
>>153079054
Star Wars should've functioned like The Elder Scrolls with some installments/series taking place many centuries apart and the landscape consistantly changing. They almost went this route with TOR setting but Prequels being so close to the OT killed this concept being the standard.
>>
>>153085889
I know, I guess in the context it does make sense for him to appear, but still, they have a bunch of stuff they can work with, they don't need to keep re-using Vader and Palpatine and the Death Star and so on, I really wish they tried to do something disconnected from the usual time period.

One problem with Disney Star Wars (or any Disney product really) is that after a while you just know how they work, the stories are usually all the same, they all have the same pacing and humor and elements. Hell, going out of /co/ stuff for a while, have you seen that Predator movie Disney did? It legit felt nothing like a Predator movie, it felt like an attempt to make a Mandalorian more than anything.

They could try to explore the old republic and beyond, but I know it'd have a high chance of be crappy as well. I fear that, whatever they choose to do, it'll always feel like a bland and safe story, so I kind of want them to just shelf Star Wars at this point, to be honest. Maybe one day they'll sell the rights to someone who knows what to do with it.
>>
>>153086031
>I'm honestly sick of the period
They tried to make their own thing with the Acolyte, but that bombed so hard we're right back where we started.

What? TES1 to 4 take places within the same 40 years
