So even if you stand in opposition to the dogma on a personal level there is that degree of seperation that permits it. Throw in the fact that catholicism is largely built around organisation, and not personal found faith, most priests become priests as a career or job, with gay catholics in particular being historically told that the priesthood is where they should be as it will help them be as well as harness the gift of celibacy.
