Talk about the movie, or just Superman in general. I'll start: What are some cool stuff you hope they add to The Fortress of Solitude in Man of Tomorrow? You can see the anvil in the background, why not a proper alien zoo? What about Kelex?
>>153081325The DCU is dead, shill. Get a real job
>>153081355Look man, not everyone with anything remotely positive or constructive to talk about its a shill. I'm fine talking about Superman books in general, like I said. I'm sorry not every thread is Paul shitposting, or some cartoon pedowank. I'm tired.
I think DC K.O and Absolute Power sort of hurt the momentum of the mainline book
>>153081866Plus having Dan Slott on a side book doesn't help. The man is a cultural vandal.
>>153081888Has the Unlimited book done anything really offensive? Only thing I heard was Slott making adult Jon into Tomorrow Man, and bringing back kid Jon. Though the latter could be bait
>>153082016Reading it is like being flogged to death by smugness.
The Key to the Fortress would be cool to see.
>>153081325I recently read Superman Peace on Earth and it was really touching and tragic. Alex Ross'art is gorgeous . I think every man fantasizes about being superman and saving everyone at one point. Even if only as a kid. Before that I finished Batman Beyonds justice league episode and it was pretty great and I wish we got to see the beyond justice league more than once. Imagine if we got a sequel movie with them or something. It was fucked how long Superman was under Starro's control though lol
>>153081866Yeah, I was sort of liking the main book but events always side swipe shit.>>153081888>>153082016Honestly I think most people forgot Unlimited even came out. It was completely by overshadowed by that Kryptonite Spectrum book and nobody said anything about it till the most recent issue
>>153082244And now Superboy Prime is helming the book. Which isn't necessarily bad, I just miss the more conventional stuff we had with Dr Graft and Dr Pharm before events completely sidetracked everything. Did that What-If Jor-El book come out yet? Haven't looked into it
>>153082225>Peace on Earth.I just read that one recently as well, I also found out that Dini and Ross wanted to do a series of Villain books (including Darkseid and Bizarro) but DC said no. Sigh...
You know despite the packed cast I was happy with the Superman movie. It was sort of refreshing for a superhero movie just to hit the ground running like Invincible or Dispatch and say "No we don't need 50 origins, just accept this is a hero world" kind of thing. Like for example the giant monster terrorizing Metropolis was treated as another weird Monday to them, which makes sense given all the shit that happens in DC. I hope in Man of Tomorrow they introduce Mercy Graves. Would be a stark contrast to Eve, which would would work. Shame they can't really do the mechanical thing since they spent that coin on The Engineer. Then again I suppose they still could, making Mercy the 2.0. I don't know.
>>153082265Yeah, Pime's been interesting but I feel like a lot of DC books have been settling into a pretty good spot with more traditional super hero stories and I'd hate to see them rock the boat.
>>153082390I think current audiences are more willing to accept super heroes as is these days so not needing to do an origin is good to let them really get into the thick of things faster though I do think a good origin movie really has some value in itself, especially if you're not really looking to start a series. I recently reread Secret Origin and It's kind of close to how I'd want to have done a movie. Maybe give Metallo and Parasite more of a tag team thing going on.
>>153082459I think you can get away with Metallo, Parasite, Livewire, and even Toyman with mere brief exposition. And yes I'd like to see all of them at some point in the DCU. They all have simple enough gimmicks to understand without much detail. But I do see the value in an origin story, which ironically The Flash movie never really did and it suffered for it. I know its going to be a long while yet before WB tries anything Flash related again (fuck you Ezra), but personally a Year One inspired story might help. You could probably just introduce most of The Rogues collectively, even make a Rogues TV series later.
>>153082504Well for a lot of them all you really need is some Lexcorp Super Science bullshit really. Parasite just needs to be some rando janny who gets hit with secret ooze and metallo can be a first act thug who blows himself up somehow and comes back.
>>153082638I think Metallo was in that light novel that came out before the movie but those aren't necessarily always canon. You could just do a rundown of dossiers after a prison break. A roll call of who's missing.Atomic Skull is another good choice for random supporting villain not needing a whole origin story. Though the weird thing about Atomic Skull sadly is that he's one of 3 skeleton themed radiation bad guys over at DC, and Doctor Phosphorus has already been introduced thanks to Creature Commandos.
I like the big cellophane S
>>153081325The fortress was tiny in the film. He doesn't even have room for a bathroom. I bet he shits outside in the snow.
I think Metallo looks cooler as a full robo skeleton. The skin grafts and human flesh just make him come off as a T-800 knockoff.
>>153083147I mean we are what we are. Having it erode over time is a nice visual touch for the loss of humanity thing
Bring back the mullet.
So think it'll stick?
>>153081325>Talk about the movie,What's there to talk about, it was trash. James Dunn is on his way out.
>>153083382I feel really conflicted. Because I didn't like Snyder and I didn't like Gunn either. I feel like this is just two equally annoying extremes when 78 got it so simple and so right.
>>153083382And why was it bad?
>>153081325I know I will sound cringe but i want conservative mood Mr. Mxyzptlk back
>>153081325A short 'walk-through', throwing easter-eggs at the audience, like;-) the holo-statues of Jor-El & Lara holding up Krypton.-) the K-Vault-) The LSH Flight Ring in it's own display case, with a post-it note reader "Don't even THINK it, Booster!"-) a Phantom Zone Projector, Kryptonian version Mark I.-) a holo-guidepost, various signs pointing the ways to 'Zoo', 'Alien Armory', 'Kryptonian Archives' & a few others I can't think of right now.-) a 'display' of the bottled city of Kandor(?)-) his birth-ship.
>>153083416Because it had no redeeming qualities. The main villain was bootleg Black Noir, a concept that was so shit that even the Boys abandoned it in the show. Then you had all the needless exposition, and the trite "wacky scenes" that Gunn couldn't make a movie without. It's not a movie normal people would watch more than once (or even once if it didn't have the Superman brand in the title).Don't get me wrong, Man of Steel was written terribly, but at least it looked good. So it has some use to artists and whatnot.
The movie would have gone from a 4/10 to an 7/10 if his cape had been stretchy.
>>153083390>I feel like this is just two equally annoying extremesThe movies had some issues in common, like the fact that they're completely uninterested in the secret identity aspect.
>>153083818A serious issue MAWS had too. Nobody cares about tradition anymore.
>>153083828It sucks because that's one of the most interesting aspects as far as I'm concerned. Superman should be lonely, at least to start off with. He's a man of two worlds living two lives trying to find a way to belong while being himself.
>>153083850I feel like it undermines Ma and Pa a bit too. I always liked him having them around. It's nice to give the hero someone to confide in but also keep the secret identity thing.
>>153083883Personally I prefer when they die before he leaves Smallville. I like it better when Superman is on his own trying to manage his own problems and neuroses, often in not very healthy ways. Also it makes the split between Clark and Superman more tangible when they're not around.
>>153083326Yeah, Tomorrow Man fits him more than being full Superman related to.
>>153081325Superman son is a homo
