>Never watched pic rel when it was originally airing>Hear great stuff about it, especially the early seasons>Currently on season 3>Nothing but cringy reddit tier "humor", ukulele music, and traits that I've seen in every beanmouth CN show for toddlersI'm convinced that this show is only revered because of nostalgia blindness. This shit is awful
>>153086606People don't like when you say it but adventure time is a big factor into a lot of the shit that killed western television animation. People will say Steven Universe but if it wasn't for AT, Rebecca wouldn't be working at CN
>>153086606>Nothing but cringy reddit tier "humor", ukulele music, and traits that I've seen in every beanmouth CN show for toddlersWhat show do you think popularized those things, genius?
>>153086606It really doesn't hold up
>>153086606>nostalgia blindnessNah, I watched it when it first aired and it was great for about 3 seasons. Its style, ideas, and characters were very fresh at the time. Ironically it's "nostalgia blindness" from young'uns who only watched it 10-15 years later that makes it look stupid, zoomer, reddit and cringe.

I feel pretty smug for never having gotten gaslit into watching something that was so clearly terrible from looking at any given frame. The only reason anyone cared about this show was waifus, which eventually got replaced entirely by lesbians, and eventually by tumblr SJW garbage here and in every other show. Good riddance to that entire era.

>>153086606I never saw The Matrix as a kid, but I saw Shrek and a bunch of other kids media parodying bullet time and stuff, and so years later when I finally watched the The Matrix it seemed corny and unimpressive. But that's no fault of The Matrix, it was doing cool and original things, I was just tainted by the things it influenced downstream.
>>153086606>cartoon is for childrenWOOOW
>>153087960Exactly. Exciting original ideas get copied and parroted endlessly and then decades later they look tired, stereotypical and unoriginal, but they were still amazing first time they came out.
>>153087960>>153086780this>>153086606it's a "you have to have been there" situation OP
>>153086606>>153086669/threadIt was a breath of fresh air at the time it came about but it was absolutely not worth the consequences it brought about. If you really want to get anal about things however, just go back further and prevent the ATHF bomb scare from happening. That alone would have saved us from the death throes CN found itself in between 2008 and 2012.

>>153086606Show me a single AT character with s bean mouth
>>153086669people don't like it because it's not true. Pinning the blame on any one show is retarded, let alone one that made CN relevant again.
>>153090798Anon. It was relevant for 3.5 seasons. Then queers and satanists took over and used it as a child indoctrination vector.
>>153090779
>>153090817Season 5 was the height of AT's popularity.
>>153090817Sounds like you fell into a gay-hating rabbithole at the time the show was most successful and celebrated
>>153086606It was a quirkier time when we had options and AT was an exception instead of a rule. Plus part of the fun was watching it with other /co/mrades and making memes. Then every show became the same crap, and Sugar and Muto took over and turned Adventure Time into "dads bad" and "muh feelings muh relationships". It is generally agreed that the show should had ended at Mortal Folly. Personally I called it quits at Meat & Furniture.
What made adventure time fun was that it was a light hearted show that maintained continuity and world building. It had a fascinating layered plot where the show is either about a boy and his dog having wacky magical adventures, or it's about the last surviving human in a post-apocalyptic society where demons and fae reign supreme. And while the former was the forefront of the series, the latter was constantly lurking in the background. And despite the obvious gravity of humanity effectively being extinct, the show didn't address it simply because the main character was either too young or out of touch to understand it.There really wasn't anything else like it at the time.
Complaining about reddit on a show that's 15 years old is peak midwit.Quit trying so hard to fit in.
>>153086606Welcome to /co/, it never gets better.

>>153091061Beautifully put, anon. Adventure Time really was the perfect blend of silliness with edge that made it attractive to kids and adults alike. It was the first new cartoon in a long time to fit that "teen demographic."
>>153091061>>153092467Yup, that was it. Those days are gone.
