Is this any good? Or is it total schwarbage like I’m expecting it to be? The premise sounds fun, but a combination of factors:

>avengers vs x-men branding
>drowning in tie-ins
>2010s marvel
>centered around inverting characterizations during an era in which marvel, notoriously, fucked up basic characterization constantly

are leading me to think this will be shit.

Alternatively, are there any similar “bad guys go good and good guys go bad” marvel stories from before the 21st century that are worth reading in place of this event?

It's got some fun parts but the main story is pretty lacking. Most agree the best part is the Superior Iron Man series so make sure to read that at least.
