The people who posted that quaint screencap were a funny blend of superficially cynical but ultimately optimistic at their core. Then over the last 20 years, more and more countries fully came online. The average poster changed. The average American poster changed. The average mindset changed. They no longer have that dry but hopeful mindset, or even an inclination to make things fun for other posters. It's now an overwhelmingly negative mindset. Some even lost their minds and exist only to make things worse for others. Some don't even realize they're simply making it worse for others. Their terrible posts are just a byproduct of being unable to cope with the modern world. But, despite it all, I think people should strive to be sincere.
