Because for some reason they want to print floppies on high quality paper instead of newsprint like in the past. Japan understands this and still uses cheaper paper for weekly releases and saves the better paper for volumes.

Did I miss something here did you just really say Naruto is edgy, it's literally the most bland of the bland. As for bleach that's kind of just really cool art terrible story. Those are mostly for what 9-year-olds up to 13-year-olds and that's pushing it.

Dollar Tree used to sell comics, there is one near a city that is 20 minutes away that still has their comic stands from 5+ years ago set up. That's how I was able to get Superman #1 all star perfectly sealed. No idea if they are getting new comics.

What Dollar Tree does is they buy up unsold stock from companies near it and send it to stores for profit. They don't have to deal with paying DC for overstock, outside the deal DC comics had with Dollar tree 5 years ago.

Anon, this whole DC at dollar tree thing started only like a year and a half ago. They’re not actually old stock but reprints, weirdly enough.
Occasionally Dollar Tree would get some comic overstock like tpbs, but the stands all come from a recent initiative, not 5 years ago.

Modern floppies are too expensive and insubstantial. Only larger volumes will sell in this setting, that's how it is with manga. Americans aren't stopping on the subway to pick up every issue of Shonen Jump, they read online and/or get the collections.

In all fairness it was kinda hard to tell if they were just overstock initially, but since DC went back to the old logo they've switched all the logos on any of the books published from 2005-2024 initially to have the bullet logo.

It's because you get a bunch of manga in one magazine but have to buy separate issues for every title of American comics. Nowadays people wouldn't buy the single issues if they were printed on cheap paper because they would wait for trades. Japan is a commuter country so Japs don't care about paper quality of a disposable mag they read on a train. The magazine format also bypasses issues like collector sham and title relaunches.
