15 years ago, experimental art collective Paper Rad had a series adaptation on Cartoon Network. To this day it remains one of the most polarizing and hated series to ever grace the network. In retrospect, what did you think of it?
>>153099510Honestly if the colors were muted by like, 20%, I'd've watched it.
>>153099510I think about how this show has the distinction of being one of the few American cartoons to be produced entirely domestically with a 100% unionized staff.
>>153099510I blame earthbound, it birthed these wacky lol so random but just ironically bad designers types
This is the network taking a chance of an adult cartoon for kids. CN always took chances like that, is how they got things like AT in the first place. At least is how I see it.I was a bit obsessed with this show for a few days trying to get what the deal was with it, and is a pretty interest art project, but not done for commercial use. Their artstyle is actually a byproduct of an self impose ruleset of artistic directives were they limit their usage of tools, kinda like to mock or copy dogma style movies or styles, that was never made clear. I even incorporated parts of it on my own artstyle since I started only using ms paint for my drawings for a while. They have a lot of material outside the show too, for one you have the almost pilot called cabin fever that is just an classic stoner acid trip animation, you have an music video that I actually quite like and very much surprisingly enough someone leaked the entire second season on youtube, that apparently was done at some point but never released. I watched the show a bit, it was just an avarage cartoon show with some really wacky visuals, but nothing outside that stood out much, whoever was running the show behind the scenes was really trying to make something out of it, tho. Second season for the little I watched goes more in to an season long plot? I don't remember a lot of it. But is by far one of the most interesting and unique pieces of media out there because how it end up the way it did given how it started.
>>153099513I would see some commercials for it, and they were such a literal eyesore that I could barely tolerate them

>>153100287tragic. they're right on the money of the show being too shouty, thats generally why i prefer the older shorts
>>153100279Exactly. They're so bright and dramatic that its hard to focus. I thought watching it high would make it better but it sobered me up enough to turn off the television.
